I'd love a remake that takes cues from Souls games. I think the game already has a bit of the same vibe, and even has an in-lore story for the death mechanics!

I've heard of these games but haven't played them. The story and writing are really great, but it's basically a puzzle platformer, right?
ID: h42s33gThere are environmental puzzles and there are platforms but there's also a lot of resource management, combat, exploration and even metroidvania aspects. All this with a heavy focus on a great narrative.
It's basically what you'd get if Uncharted and Dark Souls had a baby that was made up of their best parts.

ID: h42p8dnIt's more like God of War (2018) or the 3D Zelda games (specifically Ocarina and Twilight Princess). Open world, big outdoor areas, dungeons, a mix of exploration, combat, and puzzles, new powers to unlock that let you explore new areas, etc.
Honestly, in terms of the design and scope of the game, it's shockingly modern. It came out on the PlayStation 1, but if it came out on the PS4 or PS5 it would pretty much fit right in (graphics notwithstanding).
ID: h42pc7oThe kain branch were mostly action, the soul reaver branch were puzzle adventure. Still a good amount of combat but broken up a lot by puzzle sections that I though were really cool.

Never played this game but the art design has always looked amazing. Gives me Darksiders/Castlevania vibes.
