- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles PS5 Gameplay

Shame every anime gets 3d arena fighters nowadays it seems.
Kill la kill and Demon slayer would have been great hack and slash potentials(anyone remember the afro samurai game?) But instead we get more of the same.

Man, why do all the good anime have to get such bland arena brawlers? There's so much more that could be done with the demon Slayer IP but all we are getting is a retelling of the first season with a small roster, and repetitive gameplay. This is reminding me of the my hero game all over again
ID: h4222jmYea agreed. I think the IP could be really good for a 3rd person action RPG. It could follow the story, but I think a separate story and character creation would be more fun. Each form could be a different skill tree, you could go deep into one or brach into multiple. So many interesting demons could make fun enemies.
ID: h41ytjzJust covers the first season? So no spoilers? Seems pretty short for a game, not sure what the price is though.
ID: h41e03qAll published by Bandai Namco which follows the same low budget formula.

The way the roster is divided is kinda wack. Like why isn't there any demon playable (except for Nezuko) when in the first season you had enough demons with cool powers that could create pretty unique movesets (Rui, Temari-girl, Drum-dude, arrow-dude) but somehow Murata is in the game?
ID: h41gyazWait are you serious, there's no demons in the game?
ID: h41koonNope, the roster can be found here
ID: h41rdg9The answer is very simple, DLC fest
-
As interesting as it looks, I've played too much Naruto to justify a purchase here 🙁
I'm hoping the release a demo to possibly change my mind.

This game looks amazing but as a fighting game player who has recently fallen in love with GG strive, I can't help but imagine the frustration Im going experience playing others online. This is obviously an arena brawler similar to the Naruto Ninja Storm games which is no problem for me as have always enjoyed those games, mostly for the single player content. These days, I need more than just a single player arena brawler to justify a $60 price tag.
ID: h409cz9Same devs.

If that's the full roster then I'm really concerned, dlc packs 1-20 put me off of games like this very fast.
ID: h41186aThese are the devs who made the Naruto Storm games and DBZ Kakarot. If there is dlc, expect MAYBE one story mode expansion that also adds characters to the roster. Either that, or a single character dlc pack.
They don't (or rather, haven't in the past) milked titles with dlc like any other anime fighter. They like to put out one game, then immediately start working on the next game as the focus is almost always the story mode.
-
Looking dope. Worried this will be a crazy dlc fest though with all the costumes and characters.
-
So is this an RPG retelling of the anime like Kakarot or just another mediocre anime brawler?
ID: h40gdzpIt’s Naruto Ninja Storm reskinned in the Demon Slayer anime.
Same devs, same exact gameplay type, even looks the same.
So maybe, maybe a little overworld with small paths to walk through like Ninja Storm 2 and 3.
But mostly likely it’ll be like Ninja Storm 4 where you just had a mission tree where you select the fight you’re gonna do. They removed the overworld aspect in that one. Guess to save dev time on newer games since Bandai Namco is getting cheaper and greedier.
ID: h40k2slGonna be a solid $39.99 purchase in November-January (at least for Canadians).
ID: h4062zkI did some googling. Its by the people who made Kakarot. The store page says this
In solo play mode, walk the path of Tanjiro Kamado whose family is slaughtered and sister transformed into a demon. Experience the story depicted in the anime ""Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba"" as Tanjiro fights to restore Nezuko's humanity and battle the demon threat!
This seems to be the story mode trailer
ID: h40k5jxNo RPG at all.

Imagine Demon Slayer as a Sekiro-like with casual difficulty
