Voided my 6800’s warranty, like 2 months after I got it. Totally worth it. Junction temps do not exceed 70c. I captioned the pics, so my gma can understand what I did. It was a great deal of money, but I intend on putting it on a 6900xt one day

I suggest to use HWiNFO over HWMonitor, as it's (hwinfo) is better maintained.

But otherwise congrats on your mod!

Thanks. I actually had a very strange issue when I used hwinfo. After running for a while, seemingly at random, my system would reboot. When I was troubleshooting it, I started thinking back to what I had recently changed, and I landed on hwinfo pretty quickly. I Uninstalled it, and I never had the problem again. I've just been using the overlay in Radeon software, in conjunction with nzxt cam

It's possible that hwinfo is defaulting to a way of polling your system that causes crashes, which is weird, because hwinfo is usually very good on not doing that. Nevertheless, HWiNFO exposes different polling configurations that you can try out that could remedy it.

I seriously still suggest HWiNFO because there are no other hardware monitoring tools that are as comprehensive and as fast-paced as it. Unfortunately.

Legally your warranty is not voided. "Warranty void if removed" stickers have always been illegal in at least NA.

ID: h5jd54k

Not illegal, but unenforceable. They should be illegal though.

Anything that intends to mislead a consumer as to their rights should be banned and heavily fined.

Yep plus one can always change name and post a sob story on how AMD denied his RMA one day 😉

I knew the risks, that's for sure. I'm not the most delicate person on the planet, but I sure as he'll tried to be during the swap. I had a fair amount of confidence, too. Been tinkering since like 2003, with a few years as an overworked field services tech. I figure that, worst case scenario and the pcb gets rekt, then I get to put it on a 6900xt sooner than I had anticipated. Wouldn't be so bad

Great job. I put my open case in front of an air conditioner to get those temps on my 6900xt.

My only complaint isn't even really a complaint: I had to order the case I have now, because the one I had previously had the power supply shroud on the bottom, so the clearance for intake fans was not big enough for this behemoth rad/fan/pump. The tubing is so thick, that it's tough to manipulate. I have a kraken z63 for a cpu cooler now, and the tubing normally rests on the rad on the roof for that, so I put a piece of thick slate I had for some reason between them. The build is still a mess, I'm not happy with the kraken wiring at all, I gotta try and hide them better still. But it works, for the moment

I agree this looks horrible. A bigger case would have easily solved this

What cooler is this?

Nice.

Adding water cooling to graphics card is a high-risk, high-reward situation. Unlike water cooling CPUs.

I'm still scared to death for modding the card that way. That custom loop kit I've ordered for my card had been sitting for more than 2 months... I am waiting until the warranty on my card run out first.

I tore down and repasted my 2070 prior to this, thankfully. It is stressful, of course. But apart from the performance gains, that solid red led on the stock cooler was driving me insane. Good riddance to that thing

Wow, the EK kit is already end of life?! Been debating on purchasing it for months.

Great stuff OP. You convinced me to buy one....

Happy to help!

I did some screen recording the other day. Ultra nightmare preset 1440p

6800 was a great card, but unfortunately they moved it into artificial legacy state about a decade ago. Today you can use it in a retro PC or something.

We got John Titor up in here

It was what I could afford
