Definitely not a motherboard I'll want to purchase. HOWEVER it is something I can't wait to hear updates about, especially around the UEFI. Interesting to see if EVGA could bring better stability on the software side to the AMD offerings.

Reduce the distance between the memory controller and the dimm slots. Allows it to overclock memory better.

I don't think the DIMMs are any closer or farther than they would be if the socket wasn't rotated 90 degrees, like they've been doing on the other mainstream platform Dark motherboards (starting with the Z390). I thought it was partly more a design decision so that you can have the 24-pin and 8-pin power connectors mounted horizontally on the board and all next to each other (to help minimize cable clutter from them connecting two separate locations on a test bench), but also have them powering the CPU and other devices without needing to pass by the memory slots, and thus, in theory, reducing any extra interference with the memory traces resulting in (theoretically) better memory tuning performance (in addition to it being just a 1 DPC board).

The DARK boards are geared towards overclocking, so you're never going to see them have 4 DIMM slots on a dual channel CPU.

Evga's dark lineup of motherboards are made for the best possible overclocking. Hence why it only has 2 dimm slots

The only way we'd get 4 is if they decide to do a FTW alongside the Dark. If they do, and if it's anything like the Intel side, you might miss out on a few features and things like power plugs will be different, but it'll be same quality, plus RGB if that matters, and $100-150 less.

I was either getting this or the Rog Dark Hero. Went with the Dark Hero. But this board also looks mighty fine!

Looks great! Definitely not for me, but I hope this sells well. I personally would jump to buy one of the X570 boards if it had four dimm slots. Here's to hoping they eventually make an x570 FTW board too!

They are making a ftw board and if you want 4-dimms on this board, i think you’re missing the purpose of this board. It’s designed for xoc enthusiasts.
