- So I am a pretty big fan of the series as a whole (movies included as they are just wholesome fun). But two games I never gave a full honest try are RE0 and RE6. are they worth playing at least once?
-
People hate on 6 but personally I liked it
ID: hcu7gqzID: hcu7pbaIt is more action oriented than horror but it’s a natural progression from 4 and 5
ID: hcujedqIt is. The main draw of RE6 is its combat mechanics. If you play it, approach it with the mindset that you are exploring those more than the environment.
It’s far and away the deepest third person shooter ever made. The amount of control you have over your mans in astounding. You have options. Learn them and use them!
ID: hcuklueSame. At least 6 had the controls to support the action unlike 5.
-
RE 0 is one of my favorites it’s very difficult but I like the challenge.
ID: hcu10f3The whole no item box thing always stressed me out tbh
ID: hcu1lb5Oh just wait until the monkeys
ID: hcuikrwDropping everything in the main hall is the clutch here.
ID: hcugt7rIt's actually not as bad as long you use Rebecca as a walking item box and billy as a shooter with all guns and ammo. Basically when you approach the door first enter as billy clear all the enemies, then come back as Rebecca and collect all items. The problem is that your have to go trough so many doors, that without door skip mod your gonna riot lol
ID: hcuom4fIt would take me like a full minute to pick up what I want successfully when there are other items close to it
ID: hcu1ltqIt can be.

Re0 by far has the best pre rendered graphics in the series. The fixed angles and gameplay look FANTASTIC. That at being said 0 has some of the worst qol mechanics in the franchise. Re6 if you forget it’s a Re game is actually some good fun. Play it with a friend on the new console and you’ll have a blast.
ID: hcu8yujNow that should like a good idea
-
I'd just say go for it, at least with 0. If you've watched all of the movies, 0's by no means any less worth your time and 6 in aparently a riot if you've got someone else there to laugh with.
ID: hcu14dcOnly thing I remember about 6 coming out is all the giraffe jokes
ID: hcu220bI almost forget about the weird looking "6" just before someone says the word "giraffe"! Bro, the game was ironically hilarious even before the damn thing came out!
-
If your a fan of series why not they both have their issues but I think there are good elements of both games and I enjoyed playing them mostly when I did
ID: hcu1684I think I will.
-
People rag on it a lot for leaning heavily into the action side of RE. RE6 is still a ton of fun especially with a friend to play it with you
ID: hcuaexsThat's what I'm hearing!
-
Zero has a solid story. Definitely a bit more difficult with the fixed camera angles and the mimicry Marcuses. I re-played through it a few times recently and still found it enjoyable (especially with the added Wesker mode).
RE6 is alright. Still too dark (lighting-wise) for my taste and that actually detracts from a lot of the story imo. Some good moments in the game tho.
ID: hcu8qwcWhat's wesker mode?
ID: hcu9bdyYou play as Rebecca and Wesker throughout the story instead of Rebecca and Billy. Rebecca still calls out to Wesker as Billy and the cutscenes just splice in Wesker over Billy's (along with using Billy's voice lines). But Wesker can combine herbs and has some extra abilities that can really hurt or even instakill enemies. He can also run fast through an area with a charge up.

RE 0 is amazing
-
Definitely give 0 a try. While, IMO, it isnone of the most difficult games, I remember it as being of of the most survival horror-y, if that makes any sense. With 6, I didn't much care for Chris and Pierce's campaign. As an action game, it was solid, but felt like I was playing Call of Duty, not Resident Evil. Leon and Helena's campaign was, IMO, the most fun. Though, to entertain myself more, I often found myself running towards enemies as Helena, drop kicking and then elbow smashing them. Ada's campagin was a close second best for me. Sherry and Jake's campaign was mostly fun, but I remember being in a section, IIRC, towards the end of the game where I was trying to accomplish something and enemies kept continuously spawning over and over out of a grate. Also, I used the stun rod a lot as Sherry, that was fun.
ID: hcue80rSounds fun!
-
I honestly really liked 0 it was the first resident evil game I actually completed and really enjoyed it.
-
Youre missing out on RE0, it's underrated.
-
6 is pretty fun but idk about 0 I didn't play it because I don't like fixed camera angles
ID: hcu79u5That's a fair point. I love and hate them
-
I loved 6 in 2012 but after playing RE2 & 3 Remakes and Village I just couldn't stand playing it for more than 10 minutes today. That said, it's probably occasionally on sale for $5 so why not?
Has a lot of fan favorite characters at least.
ID: hcu7p0nWhile it looks like a bad re game it looks like a pretty fun action shooter
ID: hcu7wowIt has some decent gameplay moments but an over-reliance on QTEs that not only ruin cutscenes but take you out of the action regularly.
Just my opinion - your mileage may vary.
-
Definitely worth playing them at least once. I mean it's something new to play and there's some lore you may want.
ID: hcunvlpFair point
ID: hcuo8sdYeah. If you enjoyed the entertainment of the movies, I can guarantee you'll have fun with RE6, especially if you can find a friend to play.
RE0 is pretty much like RER but it has some harder enemies and inventory management is even more crucial. A challenge is fun though.
-
I’m playing re0 now, it’s very reminiscent of Re1 remake. I would play it.
-
They're both ok, Re0 is a lot like Re Remake just a little awkward with it's character switching mechanic and the fact that it has a item drop mechanic, where you can drop items anywhere and pick them up later. So there are no item boxes. Re6 is all over the place, but it's worth at least a playthrough of all of the campaigns, just be warned, Ada's campaign's attempt at Stealth especially at the beginning sucks.
-
Re6 is heavily action oriented, it's probably the most reminiscent of the RE movies. It does not play like other installments, and the mechanics are more solid than you would think, just take the time to understand how it works, and you'll do fine. Worth a try at least once.
-
I definitely have criticisms for 6 but it's still a blast. They have a slow-ish forced tutorial that covers roughly half of the controls and then they just never tell you the rest, but it's a really fun game when you aren't out of ammo.
-
Imo, 0 is a pain in the ass. The constant back tracking of items is what really grinds my gears and it took the fun from the game because of that. At least for me, meanwhile RE6 is incredibly fun, sure it looks stupid in some instances but it’s really fun especially if it’s co-op.
-
If you liked the movies chances are you will like 6, as it is also wholesome fun. I would give 0 a try as well, but don't go in with the expectation that it is a regular fixed camera RE game. Play how it wants you to play, or else you are going to have a very bad time.
-
Maybe RE0, but trust me, a lot of the mechanics are going to be a pain in the ass, as well as a lot of enemies
ID: hcueho6Oh really? Is there alot of ammo?
ID: hcugsq2Not really, more like too many weapon types (like molotovs for example), no item boxes, so you have to keep your items on the ground and come back for them and really powerful enemies, combined with you having to take care of two characters that both need healing, use up ammo if you give it to them and mainly suit you as an item box mostly
-
Played zero a little, was to hard back then and haven’t tried since. But I’ve always heard positive things about it. 6 is usually really looked down on but I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of it. With them being dirt cheap now I’d personally say it’s worth the money spent to play them. I do however highly recommend if you play 6 to do it co-op. AI isn’t super helpful and I found it a lot more fun with another person.
-
Sure. At the very least to see if you like them.
-
0 maybe not 6 absolutely with some drinks and friends
-
Both are worth it once. I personally haven't been able to play 0 twice, it's item management is annoying, other than that a damn good game. Re6 is an action fest and depending what kind of characters you like or hate some of them can be very annoying (I hate Jack and his campaign even though I like Sherry who acompanies him). Still playable for one time, especially co-op. Mercenaries is amazing, again if someone plays with you

Idk it just seems like a cool action game
