It’s kinda crazy how fast you level up in Fallout 4 just from building.

ID: hgfqw14

Really? Didn’t know that

You cannot kill that which has no life.

Leveling up your weapon skills requires using those skills. Naturally, there are only so many enemies in the tutorial area.

But there's also Ralof (if you side with his faction), your immortal 'ally' (unwitting sparring dummy) 🙂

ID: hghf3me

Basically you can pin the ally npc the tutorial gives you against a wall and stab him in the back repeatedly while sneaking to level up your sneak and weapon skills. Hes flagged as an important npc so he can't die and sense you can rest skills when the reach level 100 you can get to whatever level you want before you leave the tutorial cave

TLDR: you can repeatedly penetrate your ally from behind for infinit xp

6 : Anonymous2021/10/12 22:03 ID: hgeqc2q

But... How? Enemies wouldn't respawn until he leaves the area.

ID: hgesb3b

Attacking your companion. They never die or turn hostile, so you can sneak attack them for sneak and weapon xp.

ID: hgf0zlq

Sneak + One-Handed + Destruction probably, since you want to be as efficient as possible.

ID: hgg61vz

What are you doing? I'm on your side!

ID: hgfvof2

Ooooooh!!! Nice!!!!

ID: hgeze52

Because of the way skyrim's level system works, you don't have to advance "mainline" skills or kill enemies to level up. You can grind sneak/melee/archery against your companion, sure, but you can also stand there in a fire spamming healing spells or trap a single enemy and repeatedly cast conjuration/alteration spells to grind xp.

The real question is why the fuck you would do this much leveling in the tutorial dungeon other than some twisted sense of accomplishment. With the number of hours it would take you could instead do so much else in skyrim, or even just play a different game.

There's a guy playing World of Warcraft who every expansion levels his Pandaren to the new level cap without ever leaving the Pandaren starting zone. He's done this mainly by picking flowers and mining ore for minuscule amounts of exp, but some expansions let him get relatively larger chunks of exp in other ways, but it still takes him ages. Blizzard went and made an NPC that wears similar gear and just runs around picking flowers and mining ore continuously to acknowledge him.

TL;DR: For every perceived challenge, there's someone willing to do it.

ID: hggmpq3

Dude's just being cautious

There is no telling what kind of danger awaits outside the tutorial zone

ID: hgesdy7

I guess you can attack Ralof/Hadvar without them dying

ID: hgff5mj

In the starting cave where you can either kill or sneak past 2 bears, if you just find a corner, stay sneaking , and walk into a wall or something and you're constantly gaining sneak xp. Just wrap a rubber band around the thumb stick and play on your phone

ID: hgf3udp

There’s a thing where you can spam the stealth skill by hiding from Alduin since he is technically an enemy it will go up

7 : Anonymous2021/10/12 21:52 ID: hgeosh5

It’s also the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever heard of.

ID: hgeyvb8

Ever heard of that guy who refuses to chose a faction for his pandaren in world of warcraft, and leveled all the way to max by mining and picking herbs in the starting zone?

ID: hgf4veo

true neutral.

ID: hgf53pj

I remember reading about that. Think there was something similar for Runescape where someone maxed in some aspect in the tutorial island.

That kind of stuff just reminds me of the South Park episode where they all train in the starting area by killing boars.

ID: hgfvmu6

I can kinda understand it there cause it's an MMO where you can show off to other people and there isn't an easier way to do that.

I don't understand the Skyrim bit. I could just console command and give myself all those levels without leaving the intro cave.

ID: hgfalf7

Wasent theres guy who lvld max in ff7? I think starting area took few year.

But the enemies scale. Not only are you subjecting yourself to this miserable grind, you're also making the rest of the game harder.

17 : Anonymous2021/10/12 22:05 ID: hgeqkkk

I tried that, I got to lvl 10ish before getting bored, spent about 30 minutes doing it

ID: hgexlis

ID: hgezoa5

probably a combination of boredom and a sense of "Why not". Skyrim is a big game, but without modding it is possible to "been there, done that" the entire game. However, it can still be someone's favorite game so they pick random self-imposed challenges to try and spice it up. Some people enjoy the weird sense of accomplishment of "I succeeded against this random, arbitrarily hard challenge"

The primary risk is being left with a feeling of "well, now what"
