Didn’t they do this as early as Code Veronica X in battle game?

Actually RE Survivor was the first official RE game to do first person.

Yeah, thats a mod that allows to play in fps in main game

ID: hhx257e

It was a Mod so so official .

Indeed! It's way more immersive regarding atmosphere and scenery. The only drawback is that you cannot see your character. That could be solved with classic 3rd person cutscenes but that would break immersion a bit.

Still, I take every camera as long the game is good.

A big problem for me with first person is that you cannot run away from an enemy while looking at the enemy, which makes for poorer controls. You have less control over the character, who is a big clunky box--essentially taking up the whole screen.

I mean, you can run from an enemy while looking at them. It's called walking backwards.

Just watch out, much like real life you may have something else behind you now

I'm going to have to disagree with that. The RE engine was the best idea they'd had in years.

5 : Anonymous2021/10/24 22:06 ID: hhwz14d

I like it both 1st person and 3rd. Of course I liked the original games and I was skeptical of 7 being in first person but after playing it and village I’m pretty happy. I’m glad the remakes are also in 3rd person so we get both ways.

6 : Anonymous2021/10/24 21:54 ID: hhwxc7n

Unpopular opinion here but I rather have the camera view like the original games had or the 3rd person shooter view (RE4, RE5, RE6, RE:REV etc) Not really a big fan of FPS

ID: hhwy3gc

It has its perks for horror but I'd argue Resident Evil is not the franchise for FPS horror

ID: hhx2xd9

Agree. I don’t hate the approach. It’s just not my fav.

7 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:44 ID: hhxbb4v

Ideally, we'd have the option to switch. This might be blasphemous, but I like the over-the-shoulder third person view.

8 : Anonymous2021/10/24 22:13 ID: hhwzvjs

Hell no! RE works best in third person.

ID: hhx70ef

Nah it’s definitely scariest in first person

ID: hhx8ds6

I agree with both of you lol. I much prefer 3rd person but that part in Village wouldn’t have been nearly as scary if it wasn’t in 1st person. But I tend to care about the characters more if it’s in 3rd person

9 : Anonymous2021/10/24 21:27 ID: hhwtr69

But is RE4 VR not a different experience compared to just first person ?

ID: hhwvwxj

The perspective is still first person so it still counts.

10 : Anonymous2021/10/24 21:47 ID: hhwwep0

Yea. Wish they would do one more game from first person point of view.

ID: hhx83cv

My guess is 9 will be first person

11 : Anonymous2021/10/24 21:11 ID: hhwrhxw

I agree i love that it’s first person, i hope it continues to be that way or that they made the games cater to fans of both 1st and 3rd person like GTA did.

12 : Anonymous2021/10/24 22:16 ID: hhx0ak3

3rd Person all the way it's so much better look at the pc mods of 7 & 8 In 3rd person it looks awesome

13 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:15 ID: hhx7sk3

I enjoyed 7 but I do want a new mainline RE in 3rd person.

14 : Anonymous2021/10/24 20:45 ID: hhwnpf3

re 3 has First persin?

ID: hhwnvsp

Yes. The scene of jill killing herself actually she's looking at a mirror

ID: hhwpbm2

ah that's right. in the beginning.

15 : Anonymous2021/10/24 22:33 ID: hhx2hzk

Both have its perks definitely.

Tho I foresee that first person migth be the future of games , the technology to improve the immersion of player will advance drastically

ID: hhxb06b

I'd have to leave gaming all together then. I'm not a fan of the perspective at all, unless it is optional and can be used in tandem with 3rd person.

16 : Anonymous2021/10/24 22:47 ID: hhx47zj

I think 4 was meant for first person

17 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:00 ID: hhx5vqa

I love both, but I do just love a smidge more the immersion you get from the first person view.

18 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:02 ID: hhx66wt

Where is umbrella chronicles and darkside chronicles? They can count as fps i think

19 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:19 ID: hhx89ej

If Half-Life Alyx has taught me something, it’s that spending time with a sidearm makes you very fond of it.

20 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:23 ID: hhx8qtv

I hope they move away from it to be honest. I really want a proper non-remake entry in the series that plays like 2&3. That gameplay is too good to not do an original game with.

21 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:39 ID: hhxaqu3

Capcom should release a DLC applied in RE2Remake and RE3Remake, like an unlockable feature after you complete the game, similar to the Evil Within 2, where you can switch between 1st or 3rd person.

22 : Anonymous2021/10/24 23:44 ID: hhxb8vk

REmake had the best camera imo. It really tous with your mind at various points. After the dog hall for example (mansion) you come through the door and the camera is up close in a real uncomfortable position. And at some points on the gamecube version it was hard to make out what you’re seeing, adding to the horror. Also the room on the second floor with the mirrors was incredible. Every camera angle they put their time in to make it as engaging as possible in those tight corridors.

I don’t mind 1st or 3rd person. But the old camera view is the obvious winner for me personally..

I miss 3rd person. And coop
