For me, it’s tied between GameCube and PS1

If I stick to the picture, PS1 indeed! That retro futuristic sound was out of this world. It was always hyping to hear it before playing some Tekken

ID: hhwq0zs

Simply epic.

ID: hhwxdry

I remember playing Tekken at Blockbuster, Free Arcade, it was great.

I remember syphon filter 1 and the first tomb raider being the first realistic shooting games i played and I would get excited hearing the start up sound knowing I had the next 2 days to just binge play with my brother taking turns.

Technically on the PlayStation, you got 2 for 1 when playing a PS game. You got the Sony boot sound and the PlayStation black screen sound.

3 : Anonymous2021/10/24 17:06 ID: hhvr4ue

Playstation 1 was so satisfying to listen to

4 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:48 ID: hhvoiek

Kinda have a sweet spot for the original PS-sound

ID: hhwqo90

The BEOWWWWWW of the Sony logo was so foreboding. Either you’d get to play and you’d get the SCHWIIING of the PS logo, or you’d get the boot menu and it meant your little brother had been flinging your copy of the new demo disc that had an entire playable level of Rosco McQueen Firefighter Extreme around the house and scratched the shit out of it

That startup screen would leave you hanging for an eternity before that “everything is ok” schwing.

Unless you were alive when PS1 came out you will never really appreciate how epic the start up sound was in comparison to the systems that came before it. When you turned it on for the first time it made you think "wow this a premium entertainment system" instead of just a toy. That ended up being true for me in a way since at that age I also used it to play my music CDs

especially when followed up with the mgs konami jingle

Edit: Here’s the best version of the boot up

Ah, it sounds just like I remember...

ID: hhwbqna

Came here for this sound effect

ID: hhwtrh4

The Jason Derulo/DJ Khaled of OG start ups

ID: hhwfe9q

Always felt like a bit of a justified flex. Hearing human voices on consoles was kinda rare at that time so for me that was just awesome.

ID: hhwcaqz

Came for this.

ID: hhwmys7

Most Sega games didn’t have that sound though. It was mainly used for Sonic games.

ID: hhwjj1n

About the only thing I remember about Sega was that startup sound and just how cool it was.

ID: hhw0hlj

The best commercials ever made. "The Bully"

ID: hhw0wgv

In italian sega means the action of "jerk off" for males lmao

6 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:48 ID: hhvogls

Ps one, all the way!

7 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:49 ID: hhvoj6b

Why isn't GameCube on that picture it was obviously the best

ID: hhvozy1

Showing the Z button alternative to friend who didn't find out yet was the ultimate flex

ID: hhw41gi

Don't forget the super secret 4 controllers plugged in holding Z startup

ID: hhw9w4x

I remember I found out that one by accident.

ID: hhvowk0

I definitely won't forget the good old sound of that gem

ID: hhvptnq

I mean, it has Nintendo up there.

8 : Anonymous2021/10/24 17:03 ID: hhvqouu

The true answer is the ps2

9 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:53 ID: hhvp6k2

GBA was really refreshing, and is tied so hard with golden sun for me

11 : Anonymous2021/10/24 17:04 ID: hhvqukg

The PlayStation 2 sound for me.

ID: hhx452m

Yeah, if you weren’t awake yet, that start up sound will get you there lol.

Okama GameSphere

...Nothing comes close

ID: hhvzmaz

15 : Anonymous2021/10/24 17:10 ID: hhvrmmi

Ps1 all the way

16 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:48 ID: hhvogbk

Idk about best, but I'm least likely to forget the Sega sound.

17 : Anonymous2021/10/24 18:57 ID: hhw7rt7

18 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:53 ID: hhvp6h9

Xbox 360 for me

19 : Anonymous2021/10/24 17:30 ID: hhvun3y

Original Xbox. So much nostalgia to that start up. Booting the console way to early in the morning, trying to turn the TV down to avoid waking anyone up.

ID: hhvwj8o

Blub blub blub blub. Aaaraaarrrrwoooooaaaar!

20 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:57 ID: hhvpu78

21 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:47 ID: hhvobh5

Dreamcast ftw

22 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:59 ID: hhvq3cv

SEGA, but only the games that actually audibly said it. Sonics are the only ones I know that did it, but there may be others.

23 : Anonymous2021/10/24 19:01 ID: hhw8g0d

NES & SNES. Didn't waste my time with start up sound, just straight to the game.

24 : Anonymous2021/10/24 16:48 ID: hhvogw7

The EU Sega Saturn sound.

25 : Anonymous2021/10/24 18:21 ID: hhw2cs3

Ps1 or Sega for me, hands down.
