Seeing how he’s a massive Warcraft nerd and how he nailed Geralt from Witcher, Henry Cavil would be perfect to play the Role of Arthas Menethil if there were to be a Warcraft Netflix series

A movie about the first W3 campaign would be awesome. Portray Arthas as the quintessential white knight and watch as he slips into revenge and madness. Then he kills his father at the end. Would be epic.

And yea really build up their relationship, like it would be unimaginable that Arthas would kill his own dad. And the impact of how far he has fallen

ID: hiejppd

And then, here's the best part, skip over about two seasons of character and story development so that Arthas goes directly from "Hey, everything's great, but I think we should check out what's happening at Stratholme" straight to "This kingdom shall fall, and from the ashes shall arise a new order that will shake the very foundations of the world." in about two minutes of screen time.

Hey, it worked for Game of Thrones, and the last season of that was just great so why not, right?

Bruh

I still don’t understand why they didn’t do that for the actual movie

I played Warcraft iii without playing any game prior. Still one of my favorite stories played thus far.

ID: hifjffn

I don't think I was ever conflicted as much with making the decision and pulling that sword. Poor Muradin

ID: hifcity

Exactly

ID: hifyuwm

because it seemed like they wanted to continue and eventually get there, so they started from the beginning

ID: hif22zh

I think the campaign is too long to put in a movie. Would be better if they made an maybe 8 episode series instead. Culling of Stratholme and his final standoff with Mal'ganis would deserve their own episodes.

ID: hiff9yl

"What are you doing, my son??"

"Succeeding you, Father."

I used to sit in the throne room waiting to raid with my guildies and listen to that betrayal on loop.

I hope another Warcraft film is coming in the future especially with Arthas. His story is the best Warcraft has to offer, in game or on the big screen imo

ID: hieusz8

Me too. I'm not a huge Warcraft fan, but I actually thought the movie was not too bad at all. It was an interesting story and it was a fun watch. The only thing about it is that it was overly ambitious. I felt like there was enough material for 2 movies crammed into the one, and it felt rushed.

Aside from that, I rather enjoyed it.

ID: hif68yy

Yeah the warcraft movie they did make seemed to be laying the ground work for more movies which obviously never happened because it flopped but there are better stories to tell in the wow universe than the one they went with to lay the base, namely Arthas and Illidan

ID: hifv7ky

I like Warcraft 1's storyline, that's where I got hooked, and Medivh, but idk if I liked the way they showed Medivh in the movie. Arthas also has a good storyline.

ID: hiex8pl

Arthas was right at Stratholme and was the only one with the guts to do the right thing. While he did get a little too obsessed with revenge, he didn’t go nuts until Frostmourne. With the way Wrath of the Lich King played out, I feel like Arthas never actually turned to the dark side, he just couldn’t overpower the Lich King.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

He went pretty nuts as soon as mal'ganas started baiting him to Northernd. IIRC, he burns down his own ships, blames it on the mercenaries that HE hired and who were helping him, and he even went as far as to have all the mercenaries killed so they couldn't rat. All that plotting and murdering, crippling his own army, just so they wouldn't have an excuse to retreat which was clearly the wise thing to do. And this was all BEFORE recovering frostmourne is memory serves right. That's pretty fucking nuts if you ask me. Mal'ganas was the first seed of corruption if you ask me, followed by the entire content of Northernd itself, long before he even comes in contact with frostmourne

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

ewwwww

ID: hifk0jz

I feel like Arthas was a brittle person. While it was the right thing to do, Stratholme was a perfect blow to the fault lines in his person and all of his relationships.

ID: hifin8q

WC3 is still peak warcraft storytelling to me.

ID: hifkwtu

I think him killing Uther to steal his father's urn is more significant than actually killing his dad

ID: hifrz58

what are you gonna do? piss in it!?

ID: hifwt21

Blizzard is not the company they used to be. A Warcraft movie or show at this point would likely be a huge mess

ID: hif6rva

Make it super dark with GOT level of cinematic quality and I'm so on board.

ID: hiff8ap

I think they should skip all that and do a movie about Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands. Portray Sylvanas as the quintessential master tactician and watch as she just gets mad and burns things down. Then she yells "I will never serve!" at the end of the movie. Would be epic.

(kill me)

He has seen this and has said he'd LOVE to play Arthas.

ID: hifs4sl

source???

ID: hifwqt0

I think this is what you're looking for.

ID: hiftn3b

Just trust me bro

4 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:25 ID: hif3vha

Sanguinius please

ID: hifj34v

Eddie Murphy style movie where he plays Every Primarch + Big E

ID: hifjz19

Might have to bring a couple Wayans brothers in

ID: hiftnza

Crucify me as heretic for this but I can’t see him as sanguinius maybe corvus corax

ID: hig1w8i

I think he could do Big E

5 : Anonymous2021/10/28 16:26 ID: hiecey5

Stop, I can only get so aroused. This would be awesome. Arthas is one of my favorite heroes/villains.

ID: hiegb5p

Greek tragedy at its finest

With all the shit Acti/Blizzard is going through right now, the Warcraft IP is pretty untouchable from a studio standpoint

7 : Anonymous2021/10/28 18:52 ID: hieyyxq

I would love to see this, BUT Activision Blizzard owns the IP, so you know they wouldn't dare let anyone on the project take any creative freedom to make a master work of cinematography, it'll be a market researched, test group garbage fire, even with Henry Cavill

8 : Anonymous2021/10/28 17:22 ID: hiel4az

Damn, he fits perfectly!

9 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:08 ID: hif1c5y

I think I’d rather have him play the role as my best friend irl

10 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:25 ID: hif4006

It's funny to take a picture from someone who already thought this was a good idea and then post it as if you're having this idea.

11 : Anonymous2021/10/28 21:24 ID: hifllr1

If they did the Warcraft 3 campaign, yes. But fuck Blizzard.

12 : Anonymous2021/10/28 17:09 ID: hiej1fr

Been a while since this was reposted

13 : Anonymous2021/10/28 18:19 ID: hieu0e0

That's a fantastic render. I would watch this for sure.

14 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:47 ID: hif7a20

"What are you doing my son?" "Succeesing you father." After all these years, this still gives me chills.

15 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:33 ID: hife2ih

When you hire Cavill, you’re also hiring your continuity person.

16 : Anonymous2021/10/28 21:05 ID: hifixr8

I feel like Henry Cavill should just play every role going forward

17 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:24 ID: hiftvve

no one call pull it off, there is no talent alive to be able to adapt and write a script for Warcraft, it has been obvious that writing has going downhill, it sucks because I would love to see Warcraft as a series in the level of GoT.

18 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:46 ID: hifwrx5

Blizzard is not the company they used to be. A Warcraft movie or show at this point would likely be a huge mess

19 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:20 ID: hig18em

Anything activison can fuck right off

20 : Anonymous2021/10/28 18:39 ID: hiewxv4

I’d be irritated if he did anything with Blizzard now. Fuck that company.
