There's a fucking Slaughterfish to the left of the pier that gave me a fear of underwater in pretty much ALL videogames
ID: hjexx2qMy advice to you, then, is to never play Subnautica.
ID: hjezpidOtherwise known as Thalassophobia the game.
ID: hjf1dojRecently updated to Sennheiser HD800s. Heard this was a master class of sound design. Swimming around, seeing if there is any way to approach the ship that won't kill me from radiation and night falls. I should start swimming back to the pod, maybe vision is a bit better underwater for reasons. Nothing but quiet and dark. Then there was a noise I will never forget and don't ever want to know where it came from.
ID: hjf0rhtRecently played it and the first Leviathan made me audibly scream out at a video game for the first time even though I played RE2, 7 and 8 on midnights.
ID: hjezazfOne time when I was up at my summer family cottage I did a running jump off our dock into the water. What I had forgotten about was the fact that my brother had caught a huge musky earlier and had him chained to the last leg of the dock where I jumped.
I remember turning around in the water and opening my eyes and being face-to-face with this 4 foot monster of teeth and almost shitting myself. However it was not this day that I Developed my fear of the water, it is just always been there
ID: hjf2uouEven scarier dude, was taking a run down my dock to jump and halfway stopped in my tracks as there was a giant rock I had never seen before in the water. Stood there for a second and it moved. It was the giant snapping turtle that lives in the bay and I was seconds from cannon balling onto his back
ID: hjew0y6Ah I see you've never been a giant turtle trying to disarm bombs underwater.
ID: hjewbelWhile avoiding electric seaweed.
ID: hjezjyyHalf-Life did that to me.
ID: hjf3iwpIt was the fucking red eel in Super Mario 64’s Jolly Roger Bay that did it for me.

Gives me hero of kavatch vibes
ID: hjegmhzAs a german I always hated that town. They used to greed you with Kvatch in the german version where it Sounds like Quatsch, which means something like "nonsense". "Hey, it's the hero of nonsense"
ID: hjehccrRip they’re like ayyye what’s up, you’re a joke bro
ID: hjejq2yI still get that feeling when I loot the Shield of Kvatch in Skyrim. :-/
ID: hjf43t9"Hero of Nonsense" is some straight up Shivering Isles shit lmao. I love it.
ID: hjezbsnAs soon as I get back to my desk, I'm going to order a custom shirt that says "Hero of Nonsense." That's my new favorite phrase.

One of my favorite Breath Of The Wild-likes was Morrowind.

Still not as bad as "Like Skyrim with guns"
ID: hjez4cfThis game has a slightly above average difficulty, "Truly the next souls experience"
ID: hjg1wzaClearly taking the Strand-type to the next level
ID: hjfh1ipHow else are you supposed to describe what Fallout is like

BOTW was known to inspire scenes in Rivendell in LOTR... not the movie. Tolkien was a huge fan of the game.
ID: hjfj8p8He also got the idea of orcs from Blizzard.
ID: hjfoc9lI feel like there was some fantasy convention where writers negotiated on which characters were universal and which ones were limited use. Like “Here’s how this is going down, orcs, elves, and gnomes are all on the table for free use, but Hobbitses are right out, boys.”
-
well i mean they started making games for all those guys in smash bros, totally kewl
ID: hjf0qf8True.
Was playing smash bros with my nephew and he said Sora was coming to smash.
I playfully said who is is Sora? He said he’s in Smash bros.
Me: is he in any other games? Him: no just smash.
ID: hjeudwxthey even made a real life job out of that guy mario.
ID: hjevovwDoing shrooms nonstop is a real life job?

This game looks a lot like Skyrim /s

Literally seen this comment a lot about Elden Ring since the game play trailer dropped.
ID: hjep9zmYou mean Breath of the Souls?
ID: hjer9h7Souls of the Wild?
ID: hjf5mi9Nah, I mean Dark Souls : Breath of the Colossus
ID: hjeozl7[removed]
ID: hjezq8aElden Ring is quite literally the Dark Souls of open world games
-
Kinda like how people compare games to Dark Souls, even when the game predates Dark Souls by like ten years.
ID: hjf94c6The one that got me was Crash Bandicoot being compared to dark souls lmao
ID: hjfcndfNOT comparing a game to dark souls is the dark souls of games criticism
-
Gives me pong vibes
-
Even Elite Dangerous?
ID: hjfcu5pEspecially Elite Dangerous.

By Azura! By Azura! By Azura! It's really you!

Botw is the reason final fantasy got started. Check your history n00b
ID: hjf2kbxThere's literally a BotW reference in the first Final Fantasy
People will say this is photoshopped.

Such an epic E3 intro
Guy playing through the opening dungeon, shoots an arrow into a bucket hanging on a well (a well underground in an abandoned prison wing? w/e) AND THE ARROW STICKS. Not only does the arrow stick, but the bucket swings and comes to a rest with a slight offset due to the new center of gravity. Amazing physics for the time.
THEN THE DUDE GOES AND PULLS THE ARROW OUT AND RE-USES IT AGAINST THE SKELETON AHEAD.
