Nintendo 64 resident evil 2 scenario C. Does it exist? I remember this as a kid and leon had military attire on with a sub machine gun in the dark room.

No scenario C. Probably just unlockables for clearing the game

ID: hmsjg88

I'm freaking out, I remember the save file being the color purple unlike blue & red.

ID: hmskym1

Damn, now when you said it, I feel like I've seen that too. Yeah, there was definitely a purple save screen.

ID: hmtacmm

I have a sneaking feeling that purple meant you'd completed both A & B scenarios.

Claire was red and Leon was blue (on Normal) so to show you'd done both it would be purple. It would make sense with the idea of unlockables too, as you'd done the game twice by then

ID: hmt7t64

I believe you’re either talking about Hunks bonus campaign. If not then it must be some mod of the game like the ‘Forgotten Soldier’ mod.

ID: hmtkjli

There is no scenario C, save file color can be affected by difficulty. So it would likely be purple if you chose a lower difficulty.

RE2 does have unlockable costumes, you can use them in any scenario.

ID: hmuutvq

Arranged mode lets you start a new game with unlockables without unlocking them beforehand. Maybe you mean that.

ID: hmumari

There was a different mode where the game was easier to play. I think it was assisted or training.

I never played the 64 version, but his alternate costumes are different from the PS versions. He does have white camo pants and leather vest for a "biker" theme as well as an outfit that is basically his blue RPD uniform with a bulletproof vest and RPD hat. He has green pants and a blue tank top with RPD on it in the PS version. His other costume is a leather jacket and blue pants.

Only thing I can find about purple saves is that the save color indicated difficulty settings. Purple would have been on the easy end.

If you are visualizing green military gear, is it possible you may be thinking of Carlos in Resident Evil 3? I don't remember if he ever goes to the dark room though.

4 : Anonymous2021/12/01 13:45 ID: hmsmfre

I'm pretty sure the outfit you're describing is one of the alternate ones for Leon you can change into at the darkroom lockers after you get a special key for beating the game a certain way (I can't remember how off the top of my head).

ID: hmsn8ns

I actually think it was something to do with avoiding being bitten or shooting any of the zombies until you got to the underpass just before the station. If you’d been successful up until that point a zombie spawns and if you killl him he has that key? That’s how I remember it.

ID: hmsnlud

Yeah that definitely sounds right, the zombie turns out to be Brad right? Can't believe I forgot about that! Man it's been too long since I've played the original

ID: hmsoix8

close, you had to avoid picking up any items at all til you got to the police station then brad vickers would be in the underpass and take i think 20 hits to kill

ID: hmsovhe

Do they still have weird things like this in new games? This is crazy

ID: hmsr9s3

you had to kill brad under the station without having picked up any item up to that point to unlock the key if I'm not mistaken.

ID: hmsrp7a

Yeah that sounds right, I can't believe I forgot that!

You were probably playing the Arrange mode on N64. It randomizes ammo and health drops I believe. You probably got the special (costume) key on that save file.

That or you’re misremembering extreme battle mode where you can play as Chris and other cast not in the game.

Edit: typo/clarity

ID: hmt5i48

I think Extreme Battle is not in the Nintendo 64 port, but I agree that OP was probably playing Arrange mode.

ID: hmt5zrl

Crazy that Arrange mode was a thing even back then. It should be a standard game mode on all survival games especially the RE series imo.

ID: hmt61yk

You’re 100% right it’s not, I just mean he may have remembered extreme battle in the past, and is getting things mixed up.

6 : Anonymous2021/12/01 19:26 ID: hmu06ty

Maybe you had too much green herb.

7 : Anonymous2021/12/01 13:39 ID: hmslqmj

Sounds like you're describing the Hunk mini-game?

ID: hmslzr1

No because you play as leon

ID: hmsrxxt

I know you could unlock different outfits but don't remember a scenario C

8 : Anonymous2021/12/01 13:53 ID: hmsneos

I think the purple save might have been from Extreme Battle and you can play as Leon, Claire, Chris or Ada.

9 : Anonymous2021/12/01 14:10 ID: hmsperq

The military outfit was an unlockable. I'm pretty sure Leon wears a hat and a camo tank top.

As for the purple save screen, do you mean the text of the save file was purple? I think they had a color-coded system to denote what difficulty you were playing on. Like green was easy and white was normal (if memory serves correctly).

ID: hmsunzu

Yeah the text read: Leon Scenario C in Purple

10 : Anonymous2021/12/01 13:48 ID: hmsmszp

I've read they had an incredibly difficult time on this port. RE2 on PS1 was two 700mb discs. On N64, it is one 64mb cartridge. They had to make all kinds of shortcuts to fit it onto one cartridge. I have a hard time believing that they would include extra content.

I have completed the authentic N64 cartiridge version many times, as recently as a few years ago. I've never seen any evidence of extra content.

ID: hmsn8nj

There is a military costume for Leon in Nintendo 64 version. As far as purple screen, I'm starting to believe we played on some poorly calibrated TV that made blue purpleish..

ID: hmsoaim

I used to get into arguments over which colored GameCube was actually blue, and which was purple. I see the same damn color which is purple, people swear there’s a blue one but I haven’t seen it.

ID: hmtjlcm

The main memory save on the 64 was lower quality audio and every other frame rendered for the cutscenes, they run at like 12-15 fps because there isn't actually additional frames to even render. I also believe the resolution was lower for all backgrounds.

You could definitely get Hunk and Tofu as well on the 64 however it was way harder.
in the PS1 version you just had to complete all the scenarios. On the 64 version you had to finish Leon or Claire`s scenario A in Normal, under 2 1/2 hours, saving less then 5 times, getting A or B rank. Save so you will get the R. Launcher, then, using the saved game, finish the B Scenario in less then 2 1/2 hours, saving less then 5 times.

AND then the Save file would say hunk/00 or something like that, and upon loading that save file it would boot you into 4th survivor. all the content was on the 64 as well just WAY harder to get to the point were people thought it wasnt on the cart.

ID: hmtxc8j

Yeah, whenever a game was available on both systems, the PS1 version was always the superior one.

11 : Anonymous2021/12/01 14:15 ID: hmsq3zg

It would be so cool a Scenario C covering what Ada did like Separate Ways in RE4

ID: hmtih1y

technically there is a C scenario wich is Hunk scenario.

12 : Anonymous2021/12/01 14:57 ID: hmsvl7a

I think you are remembering Hunk's escape?

13 : Anonymous2021/12/01 15:23 ID: hmsz8ss

Now I gotta dig it out and find out

14 : Anonymous2021/12/01 15:35 ID: hmt0ywl

Theres no Scenario C, but there is a different Military Leon Costume in the N64 version. The submachine gun might be Arrange mode as you start with that in it. Arrange mode didnt change the Save text color as far as I know though.

15 : Anonymous2021/12/01 17:22 ID: hmtgy51

Is Hunk on the GC version? Could be that

ID: hmtk5m0

He is on the GC version

ID: hmtkd27

Thanks, never played GC version. Always wondered but never to the level where I’d Google it.

16 : Anonymous2021/12/01 20:42 ID: hmuc5yj

There was a scenario C in your universe but due to a timeslip that affectuated an alternate universe (they are infinite) you caught scattered memories from an alternate you, hence the mandela effect. That universe also had the full length RE3 remake as well. You got shafted my dude.

17 : Anonymous2021/12/01 14:42 ID: hmstilf

Mandela Effect maybe? I'm not crazy I remember something like this.

ID: hmsyxka

I think you're talking about Alternate Mode on the PS version

18 : Anonymous2021/12/01 14:46 ID: hmsu2y0

nostalgia!!!!

19 : Anonymous2021/12/01 14:56 ID: hmsvhj7

No i don’t remember a scenario c, I’ve played this version the most since it was my introduction to the series. As far as alternative outfits he has a biker outfit with camo pants as well as a cool dark blue Rpd stars out fit with long sleeves bulletproof vest and a cap which I would always use because it looks so cool.

20 : Anonymous2021/12/01 16:19 ID: hmt7gja

The costume I believe comes from getting the special key from Brad. If I’m not mistaken the purple save may be the arranged mode.

21 : Anonymous2021/12/01 16:50 ID: hmtc3kk

just unlockables bro

22 : Anonymous2021/12/01 17:30 ID: hmti64j

fourth survivor is probably what your thinking about with the sub machine gun.
I believe the save file lone after finishing the B scenarios is purple indicate you've completed them. I'll have to double check. There is also the PS1 Dualshock edition that has a mercenaries mode people seem to forget about as well lol. probably the best non mod experience for RE2 as well.

23 : Anonymous2021/12/01 19:01 ID: hmtwd9m

EX files

24 : Anonymous2021/12/01 19:59 ID: hmu5e6a

Human memory is notoriously bad.

There is no "Scenerio C"

Leon A,B Claire A,B Hunk Tofu

There are alt costumes for the characters
