Paul Anderson never should have been allowed to direct the resident evil movies.
Hey let’s take the most popular horror video game series that’s filled with suspense, dread, and creepy atmospheres and turn it into a movie series where the main character is not in any of the games! Better yet let’s make it be my wife! Also let’s make her a super soldier and have the movies be action instead of horror!

ID: hniq8utHe actually met Jovovich while making the film, so it wasn’t about him casting his wife. Also it was Capcom’s decision not to have an established character as protagonist, because they didn’t want it to negatively effect what they could do with the games (like switch main characters each title, or introduce new ones). Anderson originally wrote RE1 to take place concurrent with the events of the games, basically telling another in-universe story. That’s why why Alice emerges into a post-outbreak Racoon City.

Did you all see the new agent "Smith" for the new matrix movie? The new trailer shows the new agent like he is but....he isn't even close to being on the same level of intimidating as Hugo Weaving.

Paul ws Anderson is garbage. He directed those movies so his wife can star in them. It wasn’t for the fans it was to fill his pockets. He did so well on Event Horizon but then just spit in our eye when he made Resident Evil 2 forward.

How? This has nothing to do with Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith. I think he's awesome in the role and is (in my opinion) the most iconic villain in movie history. I just didn't like how Wesker in the movies sound like Agent Smith for no reason.

Mr. Smith is iconic but he is hardly the most iconic villain in cinema. When people think sci fi and fantasy, Mr. Smith is not the first person billions of people think of. It's Darth Vader.

In all fairness, Wesker has a very difficult voice for someone to naturally talk for anyone besides his main actor.
