I've heard nothing but good things about the single player

After playing the latest garbage Ubisoft has put forward (I was a huge Assassin's Creed and Far Cry fan until the latest of each game came out) I was ready to swear off open world games, as they just keep getting bigger and more empty. Halo Infinite feels like a good sized, well filled out map with fun side objectives. Not so big that you're spending half the game getting to the action like the chaff. The gameplay is also very smooth, the enemies and weapons are varied and allow different strategies, and the characters are all really likeable.
ID: hny84tbHonestly? I thought the campaign was very lacking, though not as bad as 5. It left me with more questions than answers.
ID: hnz32h7Campaign is fantastic, and they did the right thing with the open world. Stubborn old halo fans won’t like it, but I personally think it has breathed new life into the series.
Multiplayer is awesome too, outside of Reddit. What’s really good though is the esports so far, never seen so many edge of your seat games.

ID: hnyedtzI am the same but I skipped Xbox this gen because I can just play their first party games on PC. Sony also looks to be going in the same direction. If they start releasing on PC the same time as PS then I might skip PS next gen and go PC all the way.

The trilogy had both great MP and Campaigns. ODST as well. Reach too.

Halo’s open world was a massive turn off for me when it was announced. I am, to put it mildly, sick of open world games SO packed with meaningless crap to do that it takes me out of the game and becomes a checklist. Assassins Creed is the worst for this, Far Cry isn’t much better, Cyberpunk…well let’s just not go there.
I do love open world games done right, however. RDR2 is my favorite game of all time, Witcher and Skyrim are right up there. However, I see what Bioware did with the needlessly open worlds of ME: Andromeda and DA: Inquisiton, both established linear franchises, and I just didn’t think 343 could make a Halo game that kept the feeling of the original series while also making it open world. And they didn’t.
They made it SO much better. The open world is there, things to do besides the main missions are there, but you can totally ignore them and go from one mission to another. You never feel like the travel time between missions is too long or tedious because they managed to EXPERTLY space enemies out so that just as you get tired of walking, warthogging, ghosting or, my personal favorite, grappling through the world you hit a clump of enemies.
And even more awesome and very immersive is you get to create unique and fun strategies to take out these enemies. I’ve had scenarios where I take enemies out from a distance, where I go in guns blazing with a warthog full of (surprisingly smart) marines or even situations where I would use my grapple hook to conduct lightning raids on the enemies, hitting them from one side of their base and then quickly grappling away, rinse repeat.

Real shame about the multiplayer though. Everything about the gameplay is top notch and then they went and made it the 2nd most predatory Microtransactions multiplayer to date.

Fuck platform exclusives, coming from an Xbox gamer. I want you PlayStation gamers to play with us and us with you in other games. I'm tired of playing cheaters on PC crossplay on Halo infinite... I wish there were an option just PlayStation and Xbox.

Yep Halo fans have been asking for an open world Halo experience since forever. And it’s amazing, the map isn’t overly unnecessarily large which is nice. Story was good not great though
