So glad that they came back

Before Tech TV and then G4 got butchered.

ID: hoewftm

The screensavers was a great show

ID: hoewo3d

No kidding, it and Call For Help, I learned a lot about computers just watching. Even introduced my family to internet browsers that aren't Internet Explorer. Tabbed browsing just blew my mind at the time.

ID: hof1q2x

Original original G4 was amazing. They had really neat commercials made just for the channel that were gaming related. Both TechTV and G4 were great on their own. Then the merge ruined both channels.

ID: hofcp1o

I still miss Cinematech and Eye Drops, those had some near animations.

ID: hof2h9c

ZDTV for the real ones

3 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:31 ID: hoeqx0r

This post gets a Four...

...out of Five.

ID: hoerldz

I instinctually read that in Adam's nasal cadence. Quality.

ID: hof336z

Weird because I just read it in Morgan Webbs perky upbeat voice.

ID: hoex4ue

Back in my day before internet was able to handle streaming video game reviews we bought video game magazines. EGM and PSX were my favorite video game mags for review and previews of games. If you got lucky it came with a cd or dvd full of game trials.

ID: hof1xhm

The official PlayStation magazine came with the monthly Demo disk of all the games coming out soon. That alone helped me buy more games as a kid then any of the reviews in the magazine ever did.

ID: hof88uu

Back in my day, before the internet... we had Nintendo Power, and later, PC Magazine.

ID: hof4p9h

wow EGM! I subscribed to that for years. I loved just having 1 reliable source for gaming news back then. Nowadays I get overwhelmed. Its information overload!

ID: hof6gt7

He still does this in the new reviews!

4 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:18 ID: hoeozem

That was peak gaming right there. Miss it. So much.

ID: hoey9z0

You know, they’re kind of back on YT

ID: hofafs4

And cable now!

ID: hofa0z3

G4 is back on the air. The Sess is back, no Webb though.

ID: hofc6lc

Do they have original or remade segments like xplay/aots/cheat? I’ve seen some new g4 stuff pop up on YouTube but it’s all been sessler or other hosts playing with or watching streamers.

ID: hofxfms

it's really the best part about the 2000's, the whole gaming era. right before microtransactions took over.

the game's industry was still mysterious and like this magical goal that every gamer kid wanted to do when they grew up

game's journalists still had integrity and were working for magazines with amazing articles and art work and interviews

getting demos sent through the mail was fun and you'd just play them over and over never buying the full games lol

you'd hear about secret stuff in games and would try them with your friends on the weekends...

man I miss it so much. It was like that in the 90's and I assume maybe even the 80's. I'm a 90's kid so i'm not sure what the culture was like then. but man...just thinking about being over at a friend's house with me, them, and other kids in the neighborhood all huddled in a room either playing games together or taking turns on a single player game like Resident Evil just glued to the TV. And the parents just not understanding that games were starting to be like really long cinematic movies.

if there's an afterlife, that'd definitely be in my top 5 ideal ones just on a loop. Me, the boys and our one female friend who is also one of the boys, all just having fun playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, 3, and 4 absolutely being terrible at it. but just having hours of fun...

I can only imagine our reaction to the amazing games of today (ignoring all the terrible stuff in today's games lol)

I worked in videogames in the mid to late 2000's, and happened to be at a lot of events where Adam Sessler and G4 would be at.

People love to hate on him for some reason, but he really impressed me every time I saw him. He'd be at every booth, every event, every party, talking to people, asking intelligent questions, shooting his scenes and then running across the show floor to get to the next event, while still stopping to take photos or give an autograph to people who asked for it. Worked super hard and it showed.

Sess, just here to say great work, and the industry appreciates your dedication.

Loved this show. I wish them both well

ID: hoepzb3

Hey Adam is back doing reviews for Xplay on YouTube and regular television!!

ID: hoeu4so

I just looked up his review of cyberpunk 2077. His reviewing skills have aged very well. He just needs a streamer mic so your ears don't bleed while listening to him.

Good to know! Thanks

ID: hof0sgs

Even my old ass ( Gen X ) used to watch this. Miss it

7 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:55 ID: hoeumxb

Is Morgan Webb back? big time crush on her back in the day

ID: hof49w6

I heard she kicks children, just finds random children and kicks them

I love her

ID: hofahsw

I thought her toddler punting youtube channel was a bit much, but she's got to pay the bills somehow.

8 : Anonymous2021/12/13 19:19 ID: hoey64m

I always enjoyed Cheat with Kristin Holt.

9 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:49 ID: hoetq83

We had these printed pieces of paper glues together like a book that we bought every month

10 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:21 ID: hoepflh

Never had them growing up here in Canada. I think G4 might've been a special premium channel or something.

But I used Electric Playground:

And Video & Arcade Top 10:

edit: and GamePro and Game Informer magazines. And I moved to GameFAQs in like 1999ish.

ID: hoeq98e

Fellow Canadian here. G4 was available but it was a premium channel as were most American networks. The mid 90’s to the late 2000s is where there was a big emphasis on domestic programming in Canada which ended up doing extremely well as it arguably marked the golden age of Canadian television

YTV Teletoon Family Channel (Canadian Disney) CTV CBC Showcase MuchMusic (Canadian MTV)

The list goes on

ID: hoer5c6

YTV was so influential for a lot of kids. "The Zone" was like MUCH music which was like early streamer culture. They tried to make it feel very much like hanging out with these personalities in between cartoons (or music videos for MUCH).

ID: hof3bx6

Ahh, Nicholas Picholas... There's a name I haven't heard for a while.

ID: hof48f9

Electric Playground is still alive on youtube as well! Halo Infinite Review

11 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:40 ID: hoesaml

this is Adam sessler and Morgan weeeeebbbb....

12 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:48 ID: hoetizi

I love Tech TV.

ID: hoewib6

We are dinosaurs

13 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:34 ID: hoerfug

I remember begging my parents for Morrowind after seeing the review on here. That game was so damn tight

14 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:27 ID: hoeqc4i

I miss Attack of the Show with Olivia Munn.

ID: hoerxhq

Morgan was better.

ID: hoexvxo

Morgan knew her stuff better. But Munn did have a better screen personality and well... she was hot

ID: hof6ou6

Attack Of The Show has also returned (find it on YouTube)

Obviously Olivia isn't on it, but Kevin is as great as he's ever been and the new co-hosts are just as great as Olivia IMO

15 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:59 ID: hoev9xh

I miss watching Sasuke on G4 they need to start showing that again now that they're back and have the rights to it lol

16 : Anonymous2021/12/13 18:36 ID: hoerq41

They’re back? Where can I find it

ID: hof73gr

New Xplay episodes

New Attack of The Show episodes

New G4

They also stream live every weekday on Twitch and Youtube. It's been great

ID: hoew0ht

They post everything to YouTube. The channel is G4TV. Adam Sessler is back with new additions The Black Hokage and Frosk.

17 : Anonymous2021/12/13 19:18 ID: hoey18a

The two episodes i’ll never forget of this show:

The durability tests of the xbox, gamecube, and ps2.

The horror “Saw” themed episode.

ID: hof3hve

I loved the durability tests. Even though none of it was surprising. PS2 failed first because those were always a bit finicky. Xbox failed second because its own massive weight destroyed itself. Gamecube won because the only faulty hardware Nintendo has really had is joystick issues and side loading cartridge slots.
