- That Cover was always terrifying than the game as a child
-
I thought Ken Shamrock was in the game when I was a kid.
ID: hof3n1fID: hoffc6pLmao, I’m picturing Ken Shamrock putting the Tyrant into an ankle lock.
-
The Deutsch really gives it the final horrorific touch
-
Almost everyone I knew back when this first came out was convinced that it was Chris. Apparently, it's not. It's actually Richard, and it's taken from a comic which was distributed with the game when it was first released in the US.
ID: hofkizxDidn’t know this, and yes, I thought it was Chris too.
Odd for a background character to be on the cover though.
EDIT: Turns out it might not even be Richard Aiken either:
ID: hofqwxbGames from the NES through PS1 era were just... bizarre in terms of production. All sorts of weird stuff crept onto covers, into manuals, into magazines etc. Because all the companies were operating in ways we'd find unfathomable today.
-
I always wondered what that gun was supposed to be.
ID: hoe637vYou can get it if you slap Wesker at the very entrance of the mansion for suggesting to split the tam
ID: hoely5tI've always assumed it's an assault shotty.
ID: hof6hcsDesign a gun Back Third - M16 pattern Middle Third - ??? Front Third - ProfitID: hof24v7Yes
ID: hofqpqcIt's some awful sadistic mashup between the shotgun at the front, and the rest being some kind of assault rifle with no magazine
-
Never understood what was going on in the background or what his face was doing.
ID: hoem7jzDunno but if you look hard enough you can see zombie faces, spider legs and for some reason, chicken feet.
ID: hofjrgqCrow claws I assume since, ya know, looks like he was killed by a CROW..or something!
-
His face says it all survival horror.
-
Man I miss these drawn artworks back from the 90s games. They had so much more effect and created excitement for the game. Nowadays, the box arts look glossy and lifeless to me.
ID: hof3t33I actually like the RE8 cover and RE7 gold edition covers
-
My older brother got it when it came out, and we were sure it was about a psycho dude who chases you around a house based on the cover.
Even after beating the game, he thought this was a secret boss or something, never thought of him as Chris lol.
ID: hofl80vSupposedly this is not Chris, or Richard Aiken (as previously thought), but a conceptual character that never featured in the game.
ID: hofxxphInteresting, I knew about the robot/strong guy and the black technician/comic relief character but never knew about that guy lol
-
That eye though…
-
Chris always looked like he was having a stroke on this cover to me.
ID: hoflcvlSupposedly this is not Chris, or Richard Aiken (as previously thought), but a conceptual character that never featured in the game.
-
What is even happening in the background?
-
The most iconic and misunderstood cover art ever.
-
Ah ja die deutsche Version, so lob ich mir das!
-
More Terrifying than the game??
-
For me, being an impresionale kid, and playing this game at 13 years old for the first time, back on 1997 was terryfing. And remember looking at dude at the cover and think 'boy, oh boy, I wouldn't like to be in this man's shoes'.
I mean, look at him, his face is broken by fear, it's like in the middle of a psychotyc breakdown, it's fucking terryfing and insane to the bone.
-
No!.. Don’t go! is way more terrifying
-
Cover the left side of his face and he looks angry and defiant, ready to face anything. Cover the right side, and he looks terrified. It’s pretty cool.
-
Chris looked like a cross between Bruce Campbell and Duke Nukem just had a stroke.

If Ken Shamrock was in the game he would've killed the Tyrant at the start
