I'm on my 5th round of this game. I'm addicted to completing the challenges. I just did the 3 hour Speedrun on casual; it's pretty easy if you have an infinite magnum and you run past enemies/don't collect treasure. I started the knives out challenge today. I'm honestly having the most fun with this challenge.

REvillages replay value is only seconded to RE4s. Personally has nothing to do with the challenges though.
ID: ht5xfoxID: ht80d0sAgreed the challenges were a great addition and I have gone out of my way to complete them. Plus the variety in all the bosses/areas to explore really help set it apart from every other game.
ID: ht6hsigIdk, personally, I would put RE2R a bit higher in terms of replayability than village, but a lot of that could be due to the fact that it had not only the achievements but the online website that gave you different ways to beat the game every week. I wish they kept doing that for other RE games. Gave INSANE replayability value, I think RE2R still has them going too!
ID: ht7wfewI just played through RE 4 back to back for the first time in years and honestly I was pretty bored the second go round through RE 4. Meanwhile I’ve probably played village at least five times now and I’m never really bored.
I got a notification of a reply but looks like it got deleted?

I am honestly curious. Village was my biggest gaming disappointment because it lacks replayability in my eyes. I mean I did most of the challenges but through the middle of my second playthrough I fell out of love with the game as I realized just how railroaded the whole thing is with huge gaps of nothing between very basic fights. I don't mean to rag on anyone I just really want to know what makes it so good for others, maybe I could rekindle my liking for this story. Do you guys not mind the linearity and the lack of action?
ID: ht8hvcuThis was my issue with it too. Very strange pacing, level design and a lack of enjoyable combat encounters. I don’t hate VILLAGE, but it was definitely a step down from 7 in my eyes.

Same. Just finished all the main story achievements today. Took me 5 playthroughs total. My 5th playthrough was just trying to find the missing goats of warding which was a headache. I had 6 missing and most were right in front of me but I couldn't see them because they blended in so well with the background. I only have the two mercenary achievements left. One is getting a combo of 30, apparently 10% of people unlocked this. The other one is the rarest achievement in the whole game which is to get at least S rank in all stages in Mercenary mode. Not sure if it is really that hard or just because people never bothered with Mercenary mode...

Can you skip dialogue/cutscenes? Biggest reason why I never replayed 7 was cause of unskippable stuff. If Village lets you then I'll definitely look forward to that. Plus I know it's a bit faster paced in general (haven't played it yet but have watched most of it)
ID: ht6yd0tYea, pretty sure all of the cutscenes are skippable.

Immediately after I beat the game, I started another play through. And then another. Now I'm on VoS at Miranda, but I never bothered to upgrade any of the magnums. I'm a little stuck lol love the game though

Agreed. 100 percent the most replayable game in the franchise for me

I have to disagree personally. I havent opened village since beating VOS without unlockables. The game just has way too much downtime moments like the beneviento house and too much janky gameplay style changes and scripted sequences for me to get into the groove playing it. 7 has the same problem with its opening tutorial and unskippable cutscenes but the gameplay never feels as disjointed. village is certainly a great experience on its first run, but after that... its just a no for me to replay

I like doing the challenges for the achievements and the extra content points. It makes every playthrough more fresh to me. They're unnecessary though if you're focused on upgrading weapons or trying to do Village of Shadows difficulty.
