Currently playing the classic re2 to prepare myself for re2 remake. I played the re2 remake demo, it's awesome. I'm hyped. But when playing re2 classic I just can't dismiss that the static cameras have something special about it you can't capture with an over the shoulder camera. The atmosphere is different.
I personally think re2 deserves a Re1 HD like remake along side the current remake, so anyone can enjoy both versions. Or at the very least release re2 classic with a few improvements on steam.
What do you think?

I frankly think a classic quadrilogy release on Steam and consoles would be amazing. 1-3 and Code Veronica would just be amazing to play on PC natively without emulation.

ID: ht5upw8Yeah it kinda sucks at the moment. I tried to get the pc port running but it's just a headache, it doesn't run correctly and I can't get my controller to work.
I'm currently playing gamecube version (emulated) with AI upscale mod, it looks great. I just wish capcom can give us a proper port on steam or gog

As much as I would be fine with a basic port for current consoles. I really wish RE2 was made from the ground up in the classic style. Like the original got. Ever since I played RE zero.

ID: ht6ahi2No. A complete remake of RE2 like RE1 got in 2002. The RE HD is just a remaster of the 2002 REmake. If we are speaking of official versions of course.

My fellow RE enthusiasts, I have got to say, I want RE2 RE3 and CV to get the Remake treatment, just as well, I want RE1 RE0 CV and RE4 to get the RE2 Remake treatment.
I love RE games in all possible ways and would love to explore them in any manner possible.
I know a lot of people argue which they want, but I want it all!

I would love if Capcom would release a remaster of the Ps1 Resident evil 1-3 along with survivor games. It would sell like hotcakes as long it was done right and didn't end up like the GTA def trilogy.

I think RE 1 in the style of REMAKE 2 would do what REMAKE 3 failed to do in building tension and atmosphere. The pacing would be more akin to that of REMAKE 2, given the setting and the way the story plays out.
If they did do RE1 and managed to capture the feeling of Remake 2, it’d probably be the best in the series.

By that logic it would make more sense to remake RE1 similar to RE 2 remake so that people can enjoy it without the annoying fixed camera angles. RE2 already has both options in theory.
I personally can’t stand the fixed camera angles and tank controls, why I start the series with later games. I would love to finish a play through of RE1 and RE:0 but that likely won’t happen until they get remade. And since RE1 was redone somewhat (time is a blur) recently, I doubt it is high priority.
Mind you think it makes sense to re-release classics on steam if they can swing it.

Something I have to say: I avoided Re1 and re2 for the same reasons you mentioned. I thought I would hate fixed cameras and tank controls and oh boy was I wrong about what I thought I like it not.
The fixed cameras are just amazing, it made Re1 tense in a different way. Something 1st person or over shoulder can't replicate. I have to admit that I used alternate controls on Re1 HD but being forced to use tank controls on re2 classic made me realise that it isn't that bad actually. I can deal with it better than expected

ID: ht6w5kfI like the two types of camera angles, but fixed camera have his own charm. You never know what to expect when the camera turns. The tank controls make the game actually difficult, and that's the best thing to do when you want people to fear your game.

So long as RE1 is remade like the 2 and 3 remakes so that fans of both styles can enjoy it, it sounds great :). I’d buy it

I would have liked to have seen this in between REmake and RE4, but I think the time has passed. I'd rather see a remaster of the original RE2 for modern PCs and consoles.

I'm pretty sure you're able to set up tank controls for RE 2 remake. Although I would like a remake of the old game with a new coat of paint like RE1 got. But, co sidering The RE2 remake was one of my favourite games of the last few years, I can't complain. A code Veronica remake would be nice as I feel that deserves a remake as its the one RE game I haven't played (although have it on Xbox backward compatible and plan to give it a playthrough)

Don't forget with Tank Control too. It will add the feels we felt as the first time we play it.

they are redoing most of the games because uncultured people don’t bother with the older games because its “shit” apparently and the graphics are out dated . people just don’t see the forest for its trees. So they remaking most of the games so people actually give it a try
ID: ht8m8itIt's sad actually, so many old classic good games are getting dismissed from the new generation. Meanwhile I'm hunting the old school games on gog or emulators more and more recently. Old games are just different than modern games and everyone should experience both

I finished playing Leon and Claire A recently and I thought the same thing. I personally like the static cameras because it adds some difficulty and you don't know what's around the corner. I still love REmake 2, but an HD remaster would be nice

The remake for the first game is a straight upgrade IMO but i prefer the old versions of 2-3.
But if they get released on steam i'd buy em all!
