This is actually a pretty fun game. It's more action packed than RE 2 remake, but I enjoyed the fast paced gameplay. If you like RE4-6, this game is worth a shot. The combat is better than RE2 remake IMO because you have a dodge button now. Doing perfect dodges is really satisfying. If you're a veteran RE player, I would play it on hardcore. It's not that hard of a game once you get good at dodging and ammo is not as scarce as it may seem. Also, you don't need ink ribbons to save on hardcore either.

I think the dodge mechanic is one of the main things that makes the game feel more action-horror than straight horror like RE2R was. That and the infinite knife.
A massive part of what made Leon and Claire feel so vulnerable in RE2R was how hard it was to evade zombies and other monsters lunging at you. Then having to sacrifice a knife until/unless you kill the zombie you put it into. Taking that away for RE3 took a big part of the tenseness and scare factor out if it for me.
I think RE3R is a decent game, I platinumed it so clearly I enjoyed it, but I think a lot of the criticisms it gets are quite fair. It does feel rushed and carelessly handled compared to RE2R.
The main positive I take from it is it gave us a fantastic Carlos. I really hope we get to see him again in another game at some point.

All the "not faithful to the original game" arguments aside, I think this would be a fun 20-30$ game, the problem is it was (and still is) sold for 60$ despite having absolutely no reason to be priced that high.
For 60$ I demand much more content. At least have a decency to put there some additional SP game mode like mercenaries.
ID: huhfnciIt's 70% off at Steam right now and it's on sale constantly, no one should be (or is) paying full price for a older title like this one
ID: huhyyirI paid full price for it upon release and am still unhappy about the quality of the game and the amount of gameplay.
ID: hui06j0I had it pre downloaded because the original re3 was my favourite ps1 game, I was a bit disappointed but I dont regret buying it.
The only other games I pre downloaded (pre ordered) was mgsv and re2 remake and I taught they done an amazing job with that, i would have preferred if they had took more time making re3 and instead released some dlc for re2 i would have happily paid for it.
ID: hui69fjTell that to the people that bought the game day 1
ID: huhiveaBut the non-sale price is still 60$ and people are buying it for this price (which is reflected in some steam reviews). Its an official price tag that is way too high and it cannot be really justified by the fact that it is on sale from time to time. Not to mention poor suckers like me who preordered it. On the bright side I learned my lesson and will never preorder anything again* 😀
*with the exception of Total War: Warhammer 3 but its unusual case where you exactly know what you will get and the CA is extremely transparent when it comes to this product
ID: hui1zt9I bought this on release because I'm a fanboy and I was rather disappointed. RE2R was so good and it didn't live up to the hype. Still haven't finished it but one day maybe.
ID: hui3qfgThis game's biggest sin (aside from the price) is probably being really disappointing when compared to the two games it inevitable will be compared to: original RE3 and RE2make.
ID: hui00q9That’s my biggest gripe is the little to no content because RE: Verse was supposed to make up for that but it’s been a year and we haven’t had anything from them yet
ID: hui0vrvYou mixed up RE:Verse and REsistance - though its a fairly common mistake because both are PVP games with extremely similar names 😀
The game that was shipped with RE3make was Resistance - it was released and left to die unsupported [*] RE:Verse is a game that was supposed to come with RE8 but was delayed and we still dont know release date.

To me it was purely "okay" and got slightly worse as it went on.
I wanted the grimy, run down disposal station, not NEST 2.
To be fair, the final boss music was epic.
But it's the only RE game I've completed in one sitting.
ID: huha2i8Agree on the disposal station. Would have been so much better than nest 2, which shouldn’t even exist in the first place
ID: huhca2oYeah, it was definitely too short. I beat it on hardcore on my first playthrough in 10 hours.
-
I enjoyed it, I just found it to be way too short!
-
Bad remake, great game. I think that the combat is better than RE2 because they nailed the difficulty, you can actually kill your enemies on RE3 while on RE2 they're bullet sponges. Doing a perfect dodge with the hot knife is super satisfying too
ID: huhju5eperfect dodge with the hot knife is super satisfying too
I love doing hot dogger-only battle against rooftop Nemesis boss. He is burning, whole place is burning, your weapon is burning and its a fun dance of dodging and slashing.
-
i like the game a decent amount, despite all that they took away from the original, but i finished it in less than a day, way to short
-
Definitely was a fun game but overall was just disappointed with the overall project.
-
Yea, it was a good game. It just really sucks that they cut so much comment, like wtf
-
Fun game, just can't justify the price tag. First playthrough, Hardcore, over in less than 5 hours. Very little replayability after that, it's been a long time since I felt that ripped off by a game.
-
The gameplay is great it’s just too short
-
I picked it up for $30 at GameStop and I love it. Loved the 2 remake as well. They’re different styles, but that’s fine.
ID: hui10xy$30
This is a giant factor. This game should cost 30$, not 60$ - then reception would be wildly different.
-
It’s a very fun game, they just needed (still need) to add more single player content. They bundled in Resistance to try to justify the price, but no one wanted / asked them to do that. We wanted a top quality RE3 remake. RE3 Nemesis was and still is my favourite RE, and while I did enjoy the remake, it’s not as good as the original.
Graphics and gameplay are superior to RE2 remake, and that’s saying a lot. Voice acting is also fantastic. The fact they didn’t even add mercenaries though is what disappointed me the most. RE2 remake got so many additional game modes and RE3 remake didn’t even get the additional mode from the original game! Then they announce that they’re going to work on RE Village DLC due to “high demand”, but what about RE3? Pretty sure there was huge demand for more content and they’re just ignoring that. For some unknown reason they seem to have no faith in the game.
-
Is a very fun game (I get the platinum trophy in his first week) but COULD BE A WAY BETTER REMAKE (more Raccoon exploration, the decisions, puzzles, a Mansion flashback, more Nemesis chase, etc)
It feel a very short and rushed production that the original RE3 don't deserved...
-
The only good thing about RE3 Remake were the characters. I really liked all of their performances and how they were portrayed except, of course, for Nemesis who I felt was less interesting than his original counterpart and less threatening than Mr. X from 2 Remake.
Every other aspect felt like a step down from RE2 Remake and it really felt like they just threw it together to capitalize on the success of RE2.
If they would have treated it with the same level of care and resources that they did with 2 Remake, it could have been really special because what's already there isn't that bad, it's just that it feels half-baked.
-
A lot of the hated is overblown, its not the worst thing in the series or the worst game ever. I'll gladly take it over Survivor or Umbrella Corp. But it is definitely a downgrade from RE2 remake in terms of content and length, to a point where 60 dollars is asking too much. I will concur the dodge mechanic once you get a hold of it is pretty fun. It's worth playing but its imperfect. 7 outta 10.
-
Gamers have a tendancy to really shit on something if its not the way they envisioned it.
ID: hui60vvYeah, honestly if you go into the game thinking it's going to be really shitty, it'll surprise you. It's probably not worth paying the full $60 but still a decent game to play.
ID: hui69v5I enjoyed it a lot. It felt like a popcorn flick version of the RE2 remake. That’s not a bad thing at all! Re3R also had the coolest final boss in the series imo.
-
I loved this game tbh. I'm not gonna lie in re1 remake I wasn't a big Jill ran but this game has made Jill one of my favourite female characters ever.
-
Replayed it yesterday and I still really enjoy it. I just think it’s got a myriad of issues and some truly baffling decisions, both gameplay and story-wise.
It’s still a fun, 8/10 game to me though.
-
Felt a bit underwhelming/short compared to RES2 remake but it's still definitely an awesome game. Already finished it quite a few times.
-
I enjoyed it a lot. It was lacking in replay ability, but not every game needs to be played 3 times to be good.
-
This sub loves to pile on about every bad thing about certain games and completely ignore all the bad parts of other games.
-
They balanced the classic survival horror feel with action very well in my opinion. I loved the game.

Yeah, I think they were going for more of an action horror game. They give you enough ammo and unlimited saves on hardcore mode. I'm not sure what Capcom wants to do with Resident Evil. RE7 and RE2 Remake are survival horror games, but RE3 remake and RE Village are action horror games. I'm not sure why they're returning to action even though RE7 brought the series back from the dead.
