Which game is the hardest (any difficuly level) if one would like a challenging and stressfull time?
-
Code Veronica and zero
ID: hvftfqbID: hvg69qtI like a challenge but I hate it when dealing with the game system itself is the main boss haha
ID: hvfsm01Came here to say this. Both of these games slap. In terms of fun, but also in terms of...your face.
ID: hvg7k6xFirst time playing Code Veronica on the dreamcast, I get up to the plane, and I'm in bad shape. Not too much ammo, not full health, but I save the game. I never got past the fight there, I had to just start the game over.
Replayed it on the PS4 a few months ago and I still get so scared as I approach that point of the game.

Possibly Code Veronica on a first blind playthrough. It's arguably one of the easiest on repeat playthroughs though.
For most difficult across both first and repeat playthroughs then maybe Zero.
-
Code Veronica
ID: hvfqju7Hands down
ID: hvg3z19I second that! And one of my favorites.
-
Code Veronica is the only game that I softlocked myself on the first playthru.
0 is a nice runner up since for some reason when you get hit you're locked in a very long stun animation so the enemies can attack you repeatedly if you are running thru an area solo or something.
I usually ditch Rebecca and play as Billy whenever I could while clearing enemies out the way, then bring Rebecca to help with a puzzle when needed.

Code Veronica or Zero.
-
Og re1 arrange mode and code veronica

OG RE3 on hard mode always gives me the roughest time. I think it’s because the dodge button is the same as the aim button and it screws me up, plus aiming at Nemesis with tank controls is hard enough as it is but when you factor in his speed it gets super annoying.
ID: hvgn2dmYeah the dodge is super janky for how crucial a mechanic it is on hard.
-
Challenging and stressful? Maybe try the REmakes or Outbreak on their hardest settings.
Maybe RE0 as well but that's less of a personal experience recommendation.
Since a lot of people are saying Code Veronica, I'm going to push back against that and say it'll probably stress you out, but it might not really challenge you. Possibly having to restart because the game put you in a bad, maybe even "unwinnable" situation because you weren't reading a guide doesn't strike me as challenge, but just annoying. Your mileage might vary, but I wanted to at least give you a heads up.

I’ve only played from RE4 onwards. Hardest game on first playthrough was RE2 remake.
ID: hvfuwqqHave played the same ones and agree. Biohazard probably 2nd for me.
-
Re2 remake. People overstate the difficulty of code Veronica and zero.
ID: hvgkrdhThey do but I'd still say the 2 remake is easier
-
It looks like we're all in agreement here haha. And I happen to LOVE both CV and 0.
We might also consider original black label RE1 (no aim assist).
-
I’d say RE2make and OG RE1, hard mode blind playthroughs are beastly. But it’s a fair fight, they provide a genuine challenge and never (or at least very rarely) feel cheap.
Zero and CV will probably give you more game overs but it’s mostly a couple moments of bullshit (especially in CV) as opposed to really feeling like a genuine challenge you have to think about. Zero in particular is probably more tedious than tough.
-
Outbreak. The only RE I really struggle to play.
-
Zero. Some of the puzzles are so obscure, and the lack of items boxes. Not to mention some really tough enemies.
-
Resident Evil 0 by far

If you okay Re0 on hard mode, you’re in for a hell of a challenge

And most of the time because of item managment
