- Anyone else here thinks the RE4 Gamecube PAL case art is freaking amazing. I just found out about it today (yeah....). Compare it to the lame NTSC(USA) case cover art we got.

I like the PAL look more, but it looks like it could work for any horror game. The USA art isn’t nearly as cool looking, but it reflects the game a bit better.

Yes, it's one of the best box arts in gaming. Box art in general has become incredibly bland and lame. It's always a 3D model posing on a generic background or no background at all. Or a closeup of a face or something. Nothing beats great 2D art as your cover.
That being said, as a kid I often found myself wanting to get my hands on the US version of games since I'm European and the US ones were fresh, exciting and out of reach.

I love the 'only for Gamecube' on the top left corner of the US one. Darn it, I don't have a Gamecube, how shall I ever experience this game now?!

I think that in the 00s marketers would advise to always put big guys with guns on covers, so the buyer knew what he was buying. The last of us was one of the first game to challenge this. I like RE4 PAL cover more, it doesn't show what the game is about but it nails the atmosphere.

Honestly love the Wii version where it’s white on black really pops IMO it’s wild that 4 and maybe I guess RE2 are the only mainline ones I can think of that go for a more artistic cover over in game models or locations.

I find that American Cover Art is usually a bit dull compared to other countries.
“Main character on a blank background holding a gun or sword.” I guess they spice it up a little with the ganados but not by much.

The PAL version is probably my favourite but I picked up a copy of the Japanese version this weekend and I really like it 🙂

The red Japanese “limited edition” Code: Veronica case is my personal favorite, but I also think every other variant of RE4’s cover is better than the US one.

I remember when this game came out and I saw preview pics of the two versions on the web somewhere. Even though they were tiny crappy pics you could see the clear winner.

hell yeah lol. i have the limited edition re4 and it has the first cover inside. I think re7 had a mode where the sky was red and the trees are black (ethan must die?) and it reminded me of this cover.

The US cover is better though.
ID: gq6k2w5The US cover looks like something 16 year old me would have hastily thrown together in Photoshop. Especially with that dumb white glow around Leon. No graphic designer or any visual arts professional would choose the US cover as the better box art.
