Scrubs was an all time favourite so I decided to subscribe to Disney+ for a long overdue rewatch. (I’m in Canada and it wasn’t available on any services until now). I thought I could really use a good comedy binge right now, but this time around I’m so sad.
I always loved the character Ted but I never realized how prominent he was in the show until my current rewatch. I found it very difficult to finish the first season, between Sam Lloyd’s death, John Ritter’s appearance, and the beginning of the Ben story arc.
I know when I reach the Hey Ya scene in season 8, I’m going to be a mess.

Scrubs is such a bittersweet show sometimes as it is. I watched it first as a teenager and as I become more and more familiar with life, tough stories and lines keep coming back to me. I try to remember when a dead actor makes me sad that when I'm watching someone's performance, I'm helping immortalizing them.

Do you listen to the scrubs rewatch podcast? It would go great with your current rewatch.
ID: gq5ff77No I haven’t! Thanks for the tip - I’m going to get on that!
ID: gq5n3jiIt's amazing how many has-been actors try to relive the days when they were actually popular by starting podcasts. See: Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey

I love his Hey Ya cover in Season 8, but his Take On Me cover in Cougartown is great too.

I have a super hard time watching scrubs cause my brother and best friend died during covid at 26 and we used to watch scrubs together and heavily relate to the main characters cause he was black and I am a white jew but we loved each other like only best friends who grew up together can (I was 2 when he was born and was at his birth cause our moms were best friends) our relationship was very similar to that of Zach Braff and Donald Faison minus being doctors. We were film makers instead. May he RIP.

I totally get it. Sometimes it can be helpful to think about it in different terms: ultimately, it’s fantastic that Sam Lloyd’s performance as Ted is forever recorded and lives on to make us smile to this day. It’s a really wonderful legacy to leave behind. I suppose rewatching some of the episodes where characters cope with the acceptance of death might also have a new meta meaning too. What helps with John Ritter is my belief that he’d be extremely happy with how well his son Jason Ritter is doing in the industry, a legacy I’m sure he’d be very proud of.

Ones for when I'm sad... and ones for when I'm really sad Teddy will be missed
ID: gq75yq5Well, see ya tomorrow!

"I'm not upset."
"Ted we found you in the park throwing rocks at old couples."
"WHY SHOULD THEY BE HAPPY?!" -
His rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in the show really hit hard for me too. Such a great singer in addition to being just so funny. Re-watched the show on Amazon Prime Canada last year during quarantine.

Currently rewatching it on Amazon Prime. I didn’t realize it was on Disney+! Is the original music/soundtrack on the Disney+ version? I know on the podcast they talk about some of the original songs not being in the show because of licensing issues, not sure how it works with Disney.
ID: gq76a7jDisney+ doesn't have the original soundtrack sadly.

My favorite show of all time. It's so good! Tragedy what they did to the end, wish it could have properly ended.
ID: gq75tg8What do you mean? It ended in Season 8.
ID: gq77rpaGuess it has to be said a million and 1 times, the last season was a spin-off, this has been confirmed numerous times

Man, I had completely forgotten he passed. What a loss, seemed like such a sweet, genuine guy

It was a silly but nice little show.

How do you watch other old shoes?

You know people die, right?

ID: gq650i2What's your problem? Both of your comments in this thread are needlessly cruel and just bitchy.

It's essentially like their Ghost but they are not trapped here because of it.
