Flame retardants are slowly being phased out because they can affect the nervous and reproductive system and more. An EPA report related to the risk evaluation process for HBCD, a type of flame retardant, references multiple studies finding potential effects on liver and thyroid function and the endocrine system.

Yes, this is a real thing. I ditched my matress and bought a hemp one and is the best decision we made. Also our pillows now are filled w buckwheat husks.

Damn. Sleeping is like one of my favorite things. I bought a new hybrid mattress that is foam like 2 days ago. Even the reviews some mentioned the chemical smell.

The chemicals making up the mattresses aren't killing you. You're dirty ass is killing you. You're supposed to replace your mattress every 7 to 10 years. You're supposed to change and wash your sheets weekly. I bet 99% of people don't do either. Thats what killing you.

Bought a 100% tallalay latex mattress about 5 years ago and haven’t looked back. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I was just thinking about buying a Japanese futon, like literally about an hour ago while watching Anime.. funny this comes up now... Not like the folding couch but the mattress that you roll up when you're not using it.. basically the futon couch without the couch bit..

I have thought in the past that coils in mattresses were suspect. I thought of Tesla coils and entertained the notion that the true purpose of the coils was to create an unhealthy EM field around the body. I see that foam mattresses are the next generation of mattress design and suspect that the toxic elements you noted are there intentionally as well.
In addition I think fads like My Pillow are similar to common pillows in that their chemical composition causes them to retain and even perhaps generate heat in order for the consumer to have a less restful nights sleep.

I haven't slept in a bed in years. I have two fairly thin square pillows that I lay on the ground.
If I get drunk enough I don't even use the pillows.
