Launchers are fucking cancerous and I'm sick of them.

Me too. they can go die for all i care.

Yea even GOG Galaxy, which you allow access to your libraries to put them all in one place, opens the other launchers to play/uninstall games. It is sooooooo fucking annoying. I am logged in in Galaxy just launch from there ffs.

Do games from the Epic store really open Steam?

I've never played games through Epic. I've downloaded tons of free games but never played them.

Origin, UPlay and other apps like that I get (don't agree with it but understand it) but opening Steam? that would be extremely odd.

Apparently having a subscription to EA Play on Steam will make your free Epic game download on Steam instead, surprisingly.

For Honor lol.

I hate when I download a 100Go game on epic games but when I start the game that begin to download in the launcher of Ubisoft... So I downloaded twice the same fucking game. The stupid trick is to download directly on Ubisoft launcher.

I kinda like Ubisoft's approach to EGS.

"Fuck it, just play the game".

Every Ubi game I got for free from EGS just simply works without EGS.

The game realised that Epic is shit and opened the better launcher for you.

PC gaming do be like that sometimes.

mhm..... so its pretty much normal nowadays to open up 3 launchers first in order to play a game on pc. Perfect.

I wanted to buy Read Dead Redemption 2 recently, but it was £20 cheaper on Rockstar’s launcher. I just cannot cope with another launcher (I stopped after having 7) so I didn’t end up buying it. Steam or nothing for me from now on. Sucks!

I did that and paid extra for Steam version

Abandon Steam and their wicked ways and join us in glory of GOG and other actually customer friendly platforms. Death to DRM, rise my brothers against the predators and abusers at Steam, EA, Epic, Ubi and all!

9 : Anonymous2021/03/08 09:37 ID: gq70y47

Just buy DRM Free games (DRM free stores GoG, itch.io)

10 : Anonymous2021/03/08 09:47 ID: gq71ifh

didnt happen to me.

I got steep on epic and it installed on epic then opened ubisoft and installed again and now it crashes every time it opens from epic and now my brain hurts

Even worse: I had SWBf2 on Origin and later redeemed the free copy of the celebration edition on EGS to get all included skins. So now, instead of using only Origin, I have to have both Origin and Epic Games Launcher open at the same time to play...

My two biggest isssues and the reasons why I hate having a load of different launchers is because

1.) you loose you sense of identity if your username is taken on the other platforms, I believe I currently have 4 different usernames due to this and it can get annoying and is certainly something people on consoles don't expereince on a game to game basis.

2.) Games are all over the place and it can feel slightly weird, we can often have game series spread across 2-3 different launchers because of this (Hitman 1-2 on Steam and then 3 on Epic, same with borderlands, Subnautica, Battlefield, Battlefront, Assassins Creed - the list goes on)

In the grand scheme of things these are very minor issues I know but enough for me and I assume many others to hate/dislike multiple launchers - that is not including things like security issues etc

For the console players reading this, how would you feel if you couldn't neatly organise your games, had different names for different groups of games, had to put payment info into upwards of 5 different platforms, have to put up with some of the most tedious storefronts and in a recent more rare case (that I think has been sorted) - have to buy two games that you already own on other platforms just to get access to the content you already have (Hitman 3 for those wondering)

(the reason I mention console players is because they can literally be the only one siding with multiple launchers as those on PC either tolerate the multi launcher or hate it, no one in the world likes the multiple launchers and if they do then they are a sadist)

Solution: Just buy games from Steam.
