Damn. That's a huge undercut on the Steam Free Weekend sale price. Only 4 months after release and already 85% off, yikes.ID: gq4gijw
Is nice to see games being more affordableID: gq4cgkm
Par for the course for Codemasters ganesID: gq53hnp
I'm going to take advantage of this top comment to inform people of Ace Combat 7 having a historic low (according to isthereanydeal for my region) on GMG as well at 72% off $16.63.
To those that have played the season pass content, is it worth it to get the deluxe edition for the extra ~$7?ID: gq5gl4j
Bought it yesterday for that price. DammitID: gq5m3fc
Something tells me the Year 1 DLC won't see a notable discount for some time.
If you loved motorstorm/arcade racers, there is a good possibility that you’ll love this game.
If you love sims and want a sim, there is a good possibility that you’ll hate this game.ID: gq66476
I enjoy both, but this game... I don’t know. Something is just weird about it? If that makes sense? It felt like there was a giant gap in the game that they left or something. It also felt cheesy... I love arcade racing games like FH4 and I loved dirt 4. Just couldn’t get into this. Ended up just getting dirt rally 2.0 since it has VR support and it’s been a blast!
I picked it up and got a free steam game voucher that gave me Next Up Hero $19.99, can't complain, thanks GMG.ID: gq4iy41
i got InnerSpace, also can`t complainID: gq5paef
i got Gun Monkeys
As someone who plays a lot of racing games, Dirt 5 was pretty lackluster.
I played without a wheel during my time with the game due to my g27 having optical sensor issues again (but that is something else entirely), so I don't have impressions on how the wheel plays with the game. But overall control of the vehicles with no assists on is actually decently satisfying with a controller. They don't overly stick or randomly lose control, and the control you have when sliding feels appropriate for what they are going for (though gymkhana doesn't feel great imo).
Game looks alright and is worth this price, it has dynamic lighting but it never seems to make the game look great. It looks pretty sterile a lot of the time. It also plays great with ultrawides and super ultrawides, I have a 32:9 display and it handles it great. With the gauges stuck to the center of the display perfectly, instead of hugging the sides of the screen. Optimization also seems fine as well, though it can have a stuttering issue with AMDs overlay if you track your framerate and system resources that way.
Also the dynamic weather system never feels like it is used appropriately, I never felt a huge difference if a storm showed up or not. Though I would like something like driveclub's weather, where it gets pitch black and rains hard enough where you need to use your memory and mastery of the track to make it through. As it stands traction and lighting conditions do not change enough to affect the challenge of the game.
What I do have severe issues with is the AI of the enemies even on the hardest difficulty, they are severe pushovers if you are competent at racing games. There is hardly any rubber banding (which is appreciated) but they take extremely poor racing lines even when they aren't fighting amongst themselves. I'd frequently have 10+ second leads within 2 laps, and I wouldn't even put myself as a great racing driver. This is what really made me drop the game.
I tend to avoid online until I feel comfortable with the tracks and a majority of the cars, but I dropped the game within 10 hours before I got to that point, so I have no opinion on online functionality,ID: gq5d92t
What do you think of wreckfest? I've been having a lot of fun on that game besides the loop tracks, the dirt ones are really fun.ID: gq5lhpu
It's not great with a wheel. It feels like they built it around a controller (which I'm sure they did) and just mapped the same controls to a wheel. I tried it first with a wheel, but went to a controller pretty quick.
It's fine as a mindless arcade racing game, but you're right the AI is shockingly bad. The only time I haven't won is in the sprint cars. Those things are impossible to handle and even the AI can't drive them. They end up in the wall as much as I do.
This game was $29.99 last week
How long will the deal last?
I would like to wait till the price reveal of Forza Horizon 4.ID: gq5lepc
FH4 is much better than Dirt 5.ID: gq5jof8
What price reveal? Is it going on sale soon?ID: gq54zpe
Exactly my thoughts as well, anyone knows?
it's on xbox game passID: gq4r61h
Can xbox game pass play with steam players?ID: gq5kbnz
own every other dirt game on my steam account, in this case, game pass still isn't a strong enough case to play it there.
Literally downvoted for saying I am buying a game.... in a gaming discount subreddit. Sucks y'all mad at people with money I guess.
spinning wheel out of stock ?ID: gq5rkwt
yeah I saw out of stock as well.
This doesnt surprise me, the game isnt that great at all
I have it on PS4 and play it from time to time, but I think it reminds me more of a remaster than of an actual new game
But at 8,14€ its a really good deal and hours of entertainmentID: gq50f1p
Literally crashes ever 3 races and eventually will crash and delete your entire save data. Pass
Tempted to grab it just for the price, though I'm not sure I'd play it before it ends up on Humble or cheaper for the complete edition haha. Plus, it's on Game Pass right now too...ID: gq4uh6q
The driving sucks IMO, I wouldn’t bother
Not surprising unfortunately, the series really fell off from the Xbox 360 days of the original title. DiRT Rally 2.0 is a much more polished title though it's basically a simulation racing game and less arcade-yID: gq5igb2
I've purchased Dirt Rally & Dirt Rally 2.0 and Dirt 4, all for less than $5 each. I can't really tell that there's much of a point to Dirt 4. I've got Forza Horizon 4, and it seems to satisfy most of what Dirt 4 offers. Forza is an arcade racer that doesn't go within a country mile of a racing simulator, and so Dirt Rally 2.0 is what I play when I want something that requires a lot more attention from me and has a much lower margin of error. If I'm in the mood for something less strict than DR 2.0, I don't know why I'd pick up Dirt 4 instead of FH 4.
Idk I'm having a ton of fun with this game so it's surprising to see so many people shitting on it.
£6.66 cursed price
This game just got an all time high of 1,203 concurrent players online, (probably because of this sale) a quarter of what Dirt 4 has. They are selling it cheap as it was not much of a sales success by the look of it.ID: gq6f3hu
I also think it had that many concurrent players because it was free to play for the entire weekend!
I’m just not getting some of the hate this game’s getting. I played it during the free weekend and had a great time with it. Not to the point where I was ready to drop $30, but for $8? Hell yeah.
It looks, plays, and sounds fantastic. Very much an arcade experience, which is what I love. Among racing games it may not be a filet mignon, but it’s a damn good hamburger.
It’s a terrible game. I have game pass and uninstalled it after an hour. Graphics are terrible ( it’s not the same team or engine as previous games).
There are invisible walls around the track, basically not a good game at all.ID: gq5d6sx
PC port is awful and this game was definitely bullshit rushed out for the new consoles. Never uninstalled a Codemaster game so quickly before. Thankfully Wreckfest was also added and that game is great
Sadly as others have said, Dirt Rally 2.0 is a much better game.
I’d recommend buying Dirt Rally 2.0 instead.
I play Dirt 5 on game pass only because it’s “free” and even then it’s hardly worth the time.ID: gq55isu
They are completely different games. Someone who might like dirt 5 will probably not like dirt rally and vice versa.
Im not sure why people dont like this game. Its really fun on PS5.ID: gq50ilb
I have it on ps5, was fun but crashes every 3 races and eventually crashed and deleted all my save dataID: gq4p4cu
I've been playing through it on PC since launch. I've been enjoying it but it's not perfect. Very limited selection of cars and it feels like there are only 6-8 tracks. There are more, but they are slight variations on the others. The environments just feel very rehashed by the midpoint of the career. I'm still having fun with it, but it feels kind of sparse on content. Also, I don't care at all for a couple of the race categories (mainly the sprint cars), but there is some variety in that at least. It's good arcadey fun similar to Motorstorm.
Probably a price mistake.ID: gq4h2oi
The game isn't very appreciated. Considered by many to be the weakest in the series. I found it cringy and very unpolished personally. So maybe it flopped hard?
So at this point it's just matter of time until it's bundled as every codemaster game ever.ID: gq5rboc
I can already smell it in a future Fanatical bundle.
Bruh why is this game always on sale or legit free?ID: gq6s7w2
It's never been free on PC at least
