Yo ngl, getting that sword in halo3 was the hardest achievement. Killing two people with one laser sniper shot was hard (before when vehicle kills didn’t count)
ID: gqo7mmwID: gqoa1mvI wish they kept that site going. Would love to have been able to go back and look at all the clips and screen shots it saved from back in the day with my friends.
ID: gqoe1wtHoly shit I remember the top 10 halo plays of the week. Was that on attack of the show?
ID: gqoevhbMine was sticking some random dude with a plasma grenade halfway across Foundry.
Match had just started, and had decided to lob a grenade hoping it would catch some schlub. I think watched the replay like 40 times lol.
ID: gqoee26How’s you manage? Vehicle kill? Hallway?
ID: gqnr2o8Nurgle!
ID: gqoe3mmYeah
ID: gqnwgfmVidmaster Annual flash backs still haunt me to this day. So many resets...
ID: gqooh74Vidmaster Challenge was easily my favorite gaming memory. Four ghosts on Installation 04 over Xbox Live was so much fun.
ID: gqoh234I was so jealous when my friend got the "Get a double kill with a single Spartan-Laser shot in Lone Wolves“ achievement and then later he got the "Perfectionist" achievement as well.
ID: gqofda8Getting the recon was way harder IMO, got that like a year before they gave it to everyone after bungie left Microsoft. The worst was the junk in odst, that was insane and took me like 4 tries of either someone leaving, dying on the last wave, or losing connection

Tbh when the old John wick skin first came out everyone was scared of a player who rocked it
ID: gqnrgufWhy? Did it give you a carpentry skill boost or something?
ID: gqntdbnIt was the maximum tier skin, and getting there wasn’t as easy as it is in newer seasons. Plus, back then most people didn’t really know how to play, but John Wicks were known for being really good.
ID: gqoba8mIt was the last skin bec the game was new back then if you had it it meant you
1 bought the battle back then not every one got it
2 you needed A good amount of playtime to get it meaning you were good at the game
-
Correct me if i'm wrong because i don't play fortnite, but don't you get the john wick skin by completing the battle pass?
ID: gqnvfisThat's supposed to be John Wick? Looks like a Persian club owner.
ID: gqo145gIt was their off brand “John Wick” they later had an actual Wick skin that came with a collaboration event.
ID: gqo35csThey didn’t have the rights to his likeness. So this skin was just “The Reaper”. Another similar skin of actual John Wick/Keanu Reeves would come out a while later.
ID: gqnmr5rI think you have to pay for the battle pass...
ID: gqnsc00Only have to pay for it once though, if you save what you earn
ID: gqnmuhhYou still need to work hard to complete it.
ID: gqnnk0dAnd that helmet in the Halo picture was obtained by jumping through the rings... not very skillful.
ID: gqnpfldThe Katana on the back is what’s special.
You had to 100% the game’s achievements for that.

Remember when I saw this meme 3 years ago

The rogue helmet was one of the armors that required skill in online

If the worst micro transactions in a game are cosmetics then I say we’re lucky.
ID: gqojomw*looks at Battlefront 2 on launch*
So glad people revolted against EA for that. Otherwise Pay-To-Win microtransactions would be infesting every Triple-A game with multiplayer.

I like when you can tell a comment section is full of salty teens.
ID: gqnr0p620 years from now, all the Pokemon karma-whoring nostalgia posts will be Fortnite karma-whoring nostalgia posts.
ID: gqo2o3qIt's already happening/happened with minecraft, I remember 7 years ago when reddit hated minecraft like they do with Fortnite now
ID: gqp141qIKR. People will shit on Fortnite by using nostalgia from other games as a comparison for upvotes. It’s getting annoying now since it’s just that “my generation of games is better than yours” posts are still getting posted

top 10 pictures you can hear
number 1: HAYABUSA

Back in my day, we had to travel 10 miles up a steep hill to earn cool skins!
-
I don't feel like this is necessarily a bad thing when it comes to a F2p game.
Like with rocket league it's the same case. And I feel like the skins provide the game with enough revenue for it to be f2p. Epic games are a bad example because the skin purchases are the lifeblood of the game with that business model and they don't offer a tactical advantage.
Ive played rocket league a mettic fuck ton and I don't mind the fact I paid a bit extra to get nice skins over time. Especially cuz I didn't ever feel like I needed to buy anything in order to get better. I bought it purely for cosmetic value. It was kinda dumb as a $20 game but now that it's f2p it makes sense.
In fact didn't HALO 5 do loot boxes that you could use to essentially buy your way into getting an advantage? I know for a fact one of the recent halos did this and I would have been better to compare to that especially because the stuff in that scenario gives a real advantage
What's fucking ridiculous is when a $60 game has all the cool skins locked behind an additional paywall or a massive grind without any skill based awards. Especially AT RELEASE
ID: gqo80cnYeah not sure why fortnite is ALWAYS used as the example for ‘MTX bad’ when it has probably one of the best models for a F2P game… but I guess to these people epic should just host fortnite servers and develop content / skins for free out of the goodness of their heart. It makes no sense to me why people cannot comprehend that a business needs to make money.
ID: gqozlw2Yeah introduced the battle pass to the masses, had no gambling what so ever and you could earn v-bucks with the pve fortnite.
for all the shit it gets (without asking if warranted or not) monetization is not one of them. Like imagine if fortnite didn't introduce the battle pass without the ability to unlock the next one for free. no bp would have that now, even in paid games like call of duty
ID: gqojhqqIn fact didn't HALO 5 do loot boxes that you could use to essentially buy your way into getting an advantage? I know for a fact one of the recent halos did this and I would have been better to compare to that especially because the stuff in that scenario gives a real advantage
In a specific game mode only. (War Zone) Which is basically Big Team Battle with AI enemies running around too. Normal game types (including Ranked) were not effected by anything in loot boxes.

I'm 25, I don't ask my mom for stuff anymore
I ask my wife's boyfriend
-
I didn't play both but still, the idea of unlocking skins by getting achievements sounds really good.
ID: gqo7ekeAnd that's exactly what the fake John Wick skin was. It was the last tier Battle Pass of that season. And you had to do challenges to earn that tier (not like now with just xp).
Really terrible example from OP.
-
Just because I suck doesn't mean I don't like playing dress-up with the bros.
-
ppl say cosmetics dont influence gameplay and they are wrong, people went and WILL go out of their way to look cool, so people changing the way they play to get a skin does mean that it did influence gameplay
ID: gqni11vSome cosmetics did in halo. For ex wearing security helmet made your head a big ass orange target compared to say rogue helmet
ID: gqoco5kSame with the swat game mode (headshots only with battle rifles).
Not only was the head hit box significantly higher for all Elite alien armor, but one of their helmets sat more hunched and lower on your body. So you couldn’t actually see the hit box when you were aiming from behind.
-
Almost like halo 3 cost 60 dollars to purchase and fortnite is free
-
I mean There was a video showing where every location was for the gear but still it wasn’t as easy as paying 20.. the good ol days. I remember printing out 50 pages for resident evil back on GameCube lol those were the days!
ID: gqohculMan has the sword, that was effort to get
-
Look, as an adult that works full time and can only play so much, I don’t mind some in game transactions when they relate strictly to cosmetics.
-
Pepperidge farm remembers
-
Dude I remember that halo! Haha I loved games that gave cool cosmetics for game achievements.
I remember getting the locust mask on my Xbox avatar for something I did in gears of War lol
-
These posts are so fucking cringe, dude. Also, unlocking Hayabusa didn't mean you were good at the game, it just meant you Googled all the Skull Locations. They don't take any skill to get.
ID: gqnm6b7The sword, also in the picture, required all achievements unlocked, which was a serious goddamn feat.
ID: gqnxafaIt's just a shame they added a bunch more achievements over time, making it fairly easy to get the required 1,000 gamerscore for the katana.
ID: gqnhxnlRecon was the real shit

My greatest Halo 3 achievement was getting a killtrocity with a single Spartan Laser shot. Had a great picture of it on Bungie’s website, too
