- EA's new launcher
-
My drives were getting full so I decided to do some spring cleaning with my game installs. When I opened Origin to uninstall Dragon Age it gave me the typical "Dobby requires updates" window so I opted to load into offline mode.
Turns out you can't even view your game library in offline mode, so... update Origin it is. Got into my library and clicked Uninstall and it opened the Microsoft Program Manager for me. Thanks EA.
ID: grpup2dID: grqrgf0So what I’m hearing is: for the love of god, don’t buy EA
ID: grqyyn7Fuck games that require launchers. I'll buy them but never download, I just download a pirate version since I just bought it.
Fuck origin and all that BS. When I want to play I should just have to double click, nothing more, anything between me and the game is horse shit.
ID: grr4s08My thoughts exactly, I wish I could go back to the old days and play all my games through Steam.
ID: grr0j2jIt’s been how many years at this point since Origin joined the market and they still can’t do basic stuff?

Extra Panel: Some Context
ID: grp4cw4I always uninstall softwares with Microsoft settings... feels like you're just trying to beat a dead horse. It's de seriously not that hard nor time consuming
ID: grpshfuMost other launchers give you the uninstall option directly on the game page though? I'm sure a lot of people would complain if all the stores being put up suddenly stopped offering cash back and you always had to go to an ATM down the hall.
ID: grpg2joWrong phrase I think? It'd be more of a dead horse if this was an exceedingly common complaint and the solution every time was to uninstall through windows. Maybe for you that's happened, but I've always uninstalled games through whatever launcher I was using. I've never seen a launcher without the option.
ID: grp4z08Yeah I do it through the control panel too if the launcher doesn't have a feature to remove.
ID: grq6o7nI always uninstall softwares with Microsoft settings...
I always use it too... for software with incompetent developers. Uninstallation is the most basic feature here, do not defend EA for failing to add it. They should be better than that.
ID: grp7wu9I use ccleaner to do all of that jazz
ID: grpdce1Revo Uninstaller for me. Get rid of the registry files it leaves behind as well as well as folders and files.
ID: grpoym9Custom uninstallers are better, as long as Microsoft uses it then it's fine.

Ok, going through the comments I'm just curious: why the hate on Revo Uninstaller? I've used it and it seems solid enough. Is there something wrong with the company at large? They can't be nearly as bad as EA on a whole LOL.
ID: grqaas3Weird. I just had to use Revo to do a deep clean through my registry to pull out corrupted keys for a program that a normal uninstall/reinstall wasn't correcting.
ID: grq7anoYeah I don't get it either. People even downvoted someone who mentioned CCleaner with no explanation.
ID: grqbfehSo for CCleaner it's because they basically added some kind of system monitoring back in 2018 IIRC, also it's basically uneeded. You shouldn't really touch the registry unless you know what you're doing as it can cause more errors and issues than it fixes. Also windows has built in tools to clean up disk space, remove temp files etc.
For Revo, no idea. I personally just use Geek to uninstall. Not sure what controversy Revo has.

Another issue I get with EA Play launcher is the constant crashing and force logging me out. "BETA" is right
-
They’re probably planning to start charging to uninstall games now
-
Simple solution - stop playing EA games. I did years ago and haven't looked back.
ID: grq8t46But... But battlefield.
And Titanfall 2
ID: grqnajkNot worth supporting EA.
ID: grpmz28Yer, but they are kinda free
ID: grqadjdEA and Epic both keep trying to hook me with free games, but like... I've already got like 150+ games I've never played in my library, I'm not sure "free games (that aren't the ones you want)" is ever really gonna pull me in anymore.
Maybe when I was younger and more optimistic about ever clearing my Steam backlog lol.
ID: grqaxvtSome EA games are really good tho
ID: grq5rnbSadly they bought Westwood. And so the own Command & Conquer 🙁
ID: grqftkmThey then proceeded to kill Command & Conquer.
ID: grqtqkoAnd haven't put out a good C&C game since they took it over in 2000.

Just take the L from play and it makes sense
-
Is that why it’s called EA Play on Gamepass...
ID: grq3sqrGood point, it's not called EA Uninstaller.
-
I've been saying this since Spore... stop buying EA games
-
There is no soul in tEAm.

After having not even opened the Origin launcher for some months, I noticed that there were background processes going on tied to it. I ended them. Couple days later, after having not opened Origin still (and it doesn't open at launch) the processes were back.
Uninstalled Origin. The background processes are now gone.
I'll just play other games rather than deal with crappy data stealing companies.

EA needs to die at this point, so toxic!
-
Uninstall this game for 9.99! (This it a random reddit comment)
ID: grp46a8Now only for 99.99!
ID: grqo1brand extra registry cleaning and option to keep/delete save files for only $59.99 each
-
TIL not everyone uses CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller to uninstall programs on PC. Heathens.
ID: grqcc8uwhy would i install extra programs onto my computer when i can just uninstall them using the built in windows ones just fine.
-
Loaded up Squadrons to pew pew at some badguys.
4!! popups on the main sscreen saying do this do that, you can do this too.
Fuck off I just want to pew pew.
ID: grqq7r6I install It on my Xbox one.... a lot of "read documentos" AND ASK FOR A EA PROFILE TO play ONLINE.... In a console! My firts time...
-
Why would anyone play an EA game at this point in time?
ID: grqj6ooI do, just not the newer ones.
ID: grqjt65battlefield 4 is still rad. and I crave a good bolt action shooter in battlefield 1, from time to time. But, yeah... that's literally it. EA should just give up.
-
This comic presupposes that someone would willingly not only install the EA Launcher, but actually install EA titles.
It could be worse, I suppose. Doesn't Ubisoft's launcher still try to install a rootkit, or did they knock that off when they got called out on it?
-
The wording makes it look like he wants the player to uninstall hil cause I read his head as a word in the end
-
For anyone curious, the game in the image is "Plants vs Zombies : Battle for Neighbourville"

I uninstalled a couple of games via Origin last year or so, was confused by how I still had so little space on the drive compared to what I should've had.
Turns out Origin only told me one of the games was uninstalled and removed it from the list of installed games. All the files were still on the computer and had to be removed through out of launcher means.
