- After 1.5 years of work, we’re revealing our first-person adventure game, Arctic Awakening!
-
Arctic Awakening is an episodic narrative adventure set in the unforgiving Arctic. Your plane crashed in a storm, leaving only your AI drone for company as you journey to find your missing co-pilot and uncover the dark mysteries buried beneath the ice. You can watch the reveal trailer here:
Our team of 4 has been working on it for around 1.5 years and plan to release on PC, Mac and game consoles in 2022. You can wishlist on Steam at
Happy to answer any questions and always love getting feedback!ID: gspbotrID: gspbuvjThanks!!
ID: gsqxmzrLet me just explain to you how happy I am you didn't include a temperature mechanic. I wanna feel atmosphericly cold not be annoyed by some mechanic where you have to keep warm. This is the exact kind of arctic exploration game I would actually get
ID: gsqyun1Thanks, we feel the same way (and we are really leaning into the atmospheric elements)!
ID: gsqfatdLooks awesome. Hope you guys took some learnings from The Long Dark.
ID: gsqv31lSo you made the Long Dark but added a robot?
ID: gsqyxlpMaybe you can also walk further than 10 feet before you have to make a fire?
ID: gsqnzobWishlisted! Looks cool!
ID: gsqoxx5Thanks!
ID: gsqwjw9Is there any planned native Linux support?
ID: gsqwptgYes, we are planning on releasing on Linux as well, though we didn't want to list it just yet as we don't have a fully functional build for Linux.
ID: gsqzm3iLooks interesting! Any plans to bring it to Stadia?
ID: gsr2u9bThat is something we'll definitely be looking into as we get closer to release!

this looks exactly like the game 'project winter' but in 1st person
ID: gsph25hSomehow I hadn't come across that one. Looks neat, I'll have to check it out!
ID: gsqzzv7Its basically a winter among us that sucks
-
it looks lovely! Reminds me of fire watch.
-
Looks amazing! Good job everyone!!!
ID: gspbu76Thanks, appreciate it!
ID: gsqk2rbWill it be multiplayer so you can adventure with your friends?
-
Oooh. Getting some The Long Dark vibes which i adored. Looks absolutely stunning, will definitely be purchasing.
ID: gsph2svThanks so much!
ID: gsqslfmwill definitely be purchasing.
It’s always cute when the marketing team pretends to post independent comments in praise of a product.
ID: gsqxz6gO.o Lol, okay, the language was a little stiff, but check my account - I'm not on a marketing team, I just thought the game looked good.
-
So you’re releasing the long dark 2.0
-
Has a firewatch feel. Looks like it will be a fun and hearty game to play on the big screen! Can't wait
ID: gsq789lThanks! Firewatch is definitely one of our favorites 🙂
-
no, no, no. It is supposed to be a battle arena with lots of micro-transactions!!!! You lot are going to make the MBAs cry.
-
Dang! Can’t wait to play this. Looks incredible. The trailer was great. Good work everyone.
ID: gspy70xThanks, we really appreciate it!

At what point do you create a script and how do you find voice actors for video games?
ID: gsq3ilqStory development started about 6 months before any actual development on the game, so that was nearly 2 years ago. The script still isn't 100% finished, though all of the story elements were finalized nearly a year ago. Finding voice actors is based on the budget, but we are working with a few different talent agencies to help with casting professional voice actors since the quality of the performance is one of the keys to the game's experience.
ID: gsq76rgThanks for the reply, looking forward to the game!
-
OKC represent!! Looking forward to playing this, looks like a good "shut brain off and just chill" game!
-
I'm sold. This type of game is my fave genre... story teaser has me hooked already! and so far the visuals look amazing! i will 100% be playing this on release.
Congrats on the accomplishment!
ID: gspopgeThank you, really appreciate it!
-
Visuals look great! How many hours a day you guys put into this?
ID: gspkgjoThanks! We work on it mostly full-time in addition to continuing to update some of our previous games (though this one is very different from what we've done before).

Idk if it’s because I’m viewing it on my phone and not a large tv, but the field of view seems a little off, a little too wide, and it makes some of the perspective projection seem a bit odd when panning.
I always had this problem in my own OpenGL programs so I’m not sure what to say.
It’s really bad particularly at 16 seconds when panning up, the left side of the hut seems to warp.
I don’t mean to criticize, I think the art direction is beautiful. Just wondering if it’s something that could still be adjusted or if it’s intentional.

THIS IS NOT A SUB FIR ADVERTISING!

Alright, sign me up. Looks fantastic, like a world I could escape into for hours at a time.
ID: gspc72uThe dev shared this link for it.
-
Wishlisted!
-
Looks cool. Can someone recommend a solo survival game like this? Looking for something that is very well rated and gives off old Myst vibes.
-
im totally getting this, survival games is my fav genre
-
Open World
Crafting
SurvivalLet me guess... Coming to Early Access?
ID: gsqwv09This is more of a narrative/adventure game than a survival/crafting game. We have no plans to do early access.

I always try to support indie games as much as possible, but the game looks boring as fuck. I see very little gameplay outside of lighting a fire and walking around. This game looks like every other indie narrative “game” out there. What makes yours different from the rest? What’s the gameplay hook?
ID: gsprynhThere is certainly more to it than just lighting a fire and walking around, this is just an early preview and a few select images after all. The gameplay is designed to drive the story forward, not the other way around. Not every game is for everyone though, and that is fine. If you don't like games like Firewatch, Life is Strange, Telltale Walking Dead, etc then you probably won't like this one either.
