Post your general impressions of the demos

Poor fucking Ethan! "Oh man, a group of survivors, I can make this work. Elena seems nice."
Aaaaaaaand they're all dead.
ID: guxwvtpID: gv1wh6iSame, I can’t even describe it. Listening to Ethan genuinely distraught for what seems like the first time over her death really sold the scene for me. “Why does everyone keep dying on me” and “Why the fuck does this keep happening.” I felt terrible, but it also made me want to go into that castle even more. They are completely nailing this game so far!
ID: guy8d7nThe fact Elena saves your ass with that shotgun made me fall in love.
She doesn't have a "Oh no my father!" moment until later after she gets shit done.
ID: guxylajAgreed, but Mia gets kinda a bad rap due to your first impression of her being a psycho with a chainsaw.
ID: guza1b8you should have a bad impression of Mia. she's literally a bio terrorist, fuck mia
ID: gv16fzoI reckon Elena's still somehow alive as she's holding a lantern in one of the trailers.

I was really impressed with it! I ran out of handgun ammo and then cowered in the church. Had a blast.
ID: guxlrw3Yeah it was awesome! I fought the three Lycans in the field with my knife after I ran out of ammo. It was fun blocking and dodging in a knife vs claw fight
ID: guxp6iiDodging?? How?

Was about to unlock the gate with the two crests when my time ran out... but it seems like that might be the end of the demo?
Those fucking werewolves were serious bullet sponges. I wonder what the most efficient way to approach them will be...
ID: guxhpgtI feel like once you have the ability to upgrade your weapons, you’ll be able to rip them apart, but yeah I gotta agree that they were hardcore bullet sponges.
ID: guzpg3eI know. Shot one in the head about seven times (Standard) and it was the eighth shot that took it down.
ID: guy3pmjThat could just be for the demo. The one molded in the RE7 demo took way more shots to kill than in the main game.
ID: guxi5me[deleted]
ID: guxph1iYou didn't need to kill them all. If you stay by the house with the old man and his daughter they will run off after killing two of them.
ID: guyhutxI just straight up skipped them.
-
Made it to the gate where you put the crests.
I liked Elena for the 5 minutes we knew her... I feel like we will get a swerve with the Mother Miranda character.
ID: guzvyj2I’m quite adamant that Mother Miranda is somehow able to morph into the old witch lady, I mean near the end of the demo Mother Miranda mercs the shotgun guy before “disappearing” into the grass, and then a couple meters over you see the old witch lady standing there.
That trick might have worked against Ethan the first time when he was down in the bayou, but who do you think you’re foolin’ this time huh?
ID: guxotelI liked Elena for the 5 minutes we knew her...
Was it really Nicole Tompkins?
ID: guyw8oiI've watched a lot of Nicole's streams, that's got to be her.
ID: guxojiyDefinitely and I’m calling it now, Elena with an offscreen death MIGHT come back in some form or a miniboss.

The environment and animations are GORGEOUS. Even on base PS4 I was really impressed. And even though this demo was pretty short and simple, it made me way more hyped than I was previously. I was skeptical of village at first but now I can't wait for more.
Though, there are a couple things that are a little silly. The cryptic old lady, letting the clearly infected guy into the house, Ethan trying to drive a car through an entire house...
ID: guzn08rAlso played it on base PS4 and the frame rate was surprisingly good so far
-
Hmm, werewolves, vampires, an obsession with blood, villagers praying to Great Ones...Ethan should really look into getting a saw cleaver and some quicksilver bullets.
ID: gv1csqnI was getting father gascoigne vibes from the dad
-
Loved it. I wish I knew it was a one and done though. I thought I would be able to play it again. Wasted a bunch of time looking around and exploring. Lol
ID: guxl159Nothing wrong with getting immersed!
-
There’s a gem if you shoot the glimmering eye in the statue in the middle of town.
ID: guy3d0uOh damn! I thought there was a small sparkle. Thank you. There's two goats if you missed them too.
ID: guyhkk4There’s also a gem in the church.
-
Love how Ethan showed more emotion! He has more lines in that one demo than the entirety of 7 lol
-
the grass section had me pretty spooked, couldn’t see the lycans(?) other than the grass moving so that definitely made it pretty fun in my run
-
Has anyone found a lock pick to unlock the drawer ?
ID: guxmwudNope. Probably not in the demo. But something to remember for the full game.
ID: guxwdefWe need the dummy finger for the lock pick.
-
So my 30 minutes ended just as I took my first shot at the old man werewolf 🙁 Otherwise it seems like this is shaping up really well! The atmosphere has already sucked me in.
-
God this got me so hyped for the final game. I was playing in the dark with my headphones on max volume, and the part with the werewolves chasing you through the grass scared the hell out of me. I was worried this game wouldn’t be scary, so that set my mind at ease in that regard. My only complaint was how short the demo was.
ID: guxlwe2The werewolves in the field were scary
-
Completed in 24 minutes, watched all the cutscenes etc but didn’t stay too long in any place. Was really good on PS5, visually and gameplay. The audio however I found was horrible through my TV... could barely hear Ethan but the girl’s voice was piercing my eardrums even on low volume
-
Well, let's just say I didn't think it was possible for me to be even more hyped for the game but now here I am. The game looks amazing and the village has this depressing dread about it that just sucks you right in from the get-go. The little tidbits of exploration and "you need a specific item for this" already has me eager to jump back in and figure everything out.
While there wasn't much in the way of combat, I definitely liked how the enemies were using the tall grass to conceal themselves and the shotgun felt as satisfying as ever. Though the pistol didn't really seem to have much of an impact on them at all.
The story bits we got I thought were fantastic. Just in 30 minutes you can notice how much more effort they put into Ethan's character this time around. The amount of emotion he was showing near the end of the demo should hopefully alter the opinions of the folks that complained about his lack of it in 7.
-
I don't actually get why they made it timed
Just made the whole experience a lot less enjoyable because I felt very pressured to blast through it but then ended up finishing it with 8 minutes remaining. Like it's not long enough for it to be limited to 30 minutes.
-
As others have said, I feel like Ethan had WAY more character in this demo. Definitely stood out to me and was appreciated. The lycans were spongy but honestly I loved it, totally made me feel powerless. Once I saw a 3rd one pop up in the field, I was like fuck this im out and ran into the house where the story cut scene began. Really impressed with the demo and cant wait for next week’s demo / the release.
-
The duke said “what are you buyin” 10/10 game
-
I find it kind of funny that the merchant is set up in the castle. Like, “Don’t mind me, I’m just gonna sell arms and munitions to the guy you’re actively trying to kill.”
-
First impression, well at first I was like oh sick, we get to like actually meet characters from the village? And then they all just died. But it really makes me feel bad to see Ethan suffer after all the shit he’s gone through since now he’s out looking for his daughter when he really just wants to live a normal life.
Graphics are amazing, wish I could play through on PS5. The werewolf guy, he has a lot of health bruh. But mainly I’ve just found myself thinking more than ever, who the fuck is Mother Miranda and like what did she do to these people?
I’m most excited for the Castle section though, i’m really hoping that that they make the castle a total Spencer mansion/Raccoon City PD type thing, there’s sooo much potential there.
-
I will use any platform to complain that Carlos’ voice actor is Chris for Village.
That is stupider decision than boulder punching.
-
Missed the first, but played the second demo this evening.
Re7 was a gamble that was able to revitalize the franchise, but it's understandable that it was kind of low budget given that it's format and story were very much a risk.
I just wonder if we will look back on Re7 as being fairly janky. Re2 Remake, Re3 Remake were both really polished, but now Village seems just seems lightyears beyond Re7 in terms of environment, controls, upgrades etc. Maybe I'm just hyped but it seems significantly better in basically every way. And I really like Re7
-
Definitely too short and the time limit didn't really let me soak up the atmosphere. That said, of course I took what I can get and I want more!
-
Ethan: Why won’t these villagers trust me? I did nothing to them!
Ethan a moment earlier: Goat statue that says don’t touch? Don’t mind if I do!

I was invested more in Elena over the course of the demo than I was in Mia in the entirely of VII tbh. I felt awful watching her die.
