I cant imagine a person playing like this
ID: gvx5dtqID: gvxf22oAs a programmer I can hardly imagine anyone programming on a portrait-oriented display. On top of that this many screens is rather complete overkill for productivity, especially in this orientation, and this is coming from someone with 3 monitors and has been really wanting a fourth for years.
ID: gvy6j8uMore like a systems administrator looking at the status of multiple servers and critical systems.
ID: gvykqckWhat's weird about this setup is that it's not really even portrait anymore. This person has arranged 5 displays so that overall they're back to ultrawide. Why not just get an ultrawide monitor at that point and a window manager. The built in Windows one is even pretty good.
One portrait one landscape makes sense to me, but this is pretty nuts.
ID: gvyen8xIt you’re actually a programmer, you know this is almost more unlikely than gaming like this lol.
ID: gvxsbduPretend you're a big daddy from BioShock.
ID: gvygz32I had three monitors in a horizontal configuration for a couple years. Very few games supported it and it added very little to gameplay at the cost of extreme performance penalties. Truth is, you almost never take your eyes of the middle screen and the other two are a distraction at best.
The one game that was an exception was Elite: Dangerous, a greater field of view made a lot of difference (I look forward to trying it in VR). Also, I don’t play Eve Online (I don’t need a second job), but I imagine having 2-3 monitors would be helpful to show all the spreadsheets you need.
ID: gvyb3tcI haven't played with 5, but I did a lot of playing on 3 for a while and honestly you just completely stop noticing the bezels after a little while.

Those screen bezels are way too big!
ID: gvzkyy5Yea, this image has been around for a long time. Pretty sure thats battlefield 3 hes playing which is 10 years ago this fall.
-
Make the center 3 screens a single large screen and this is usable.
ID: gvxlz3kThat's my current setup and it works really well. I use the vertical display for email/slack so I can just glance at messages without flipping back and forth.
ID: gvyo150Yeah same, I use the side ones for quick books and email
ID: gvyg0d8This dude really said “5 regular screens are cheaper than a ultra wide” and he would be right if he was going for 4K.
ID: gvys24uThose look like 32s. A 55inch is about as tall and you can use a TV. Unless you are getting a 120hz 4k screen, I don't think it would be cheaper than 3x 32s.
-
A single monitor curved around 65‟ wide and say 14” tall would be amazing...and ungodly expensive.
ID: gvxe7a1VR headset would be cheaper and a better experience. And then you have a VR headset.
ID: gvxw5y8VR Headsets don't currently have the resolution to do "desk work" any amount of fine detail (like reading an email) has to be blown up to be too large to be useable in VR still.
Someday... but not today.
ID: gvycmbsVR headsets are: too heavy and bulky to wear for extended sessions, don't have high enough resolutions yet, and don't have a wide enough field of view. It looks like you are looking through a porthole that has a screen door on it.
ID: gvxksj4I don't know if that exists now, but it definitely did not exist when this was first posted online.
ID: gvyc2n0Curved screens are awful. Every single video game, TV show, and movie on the market assumes that your screen is flat. Video games can't be made compatible with curved screens at all unless their graphics are 100% based on raytracing.
-
The breaks in monitors wolud kll me
ID: gvx66p3That's exactly why it's not common to do this
ID: gvxl0puThey make monitors without the bezel around the screen. Those are typically what are used for this kind of setup.
-
At this stage i'd just not play the game
-
That looks like the worst possible way to try to play a game.
-
For those who haven’t figured it out - This is obviously a developer play testing their game. Looks like battlefield 3/4. Hence why all of the vertical screens - its not for playing, it’s for coding
ID: gvy33o6It's BF3
ID: gvxza2rWhy do you need screens like this for play testing?
ID: gvxztatYou don’t, you use them to see more code. It’s a programmer testing the game.
-
THIS PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH JUST USE A FUCKING ULTRAWIDE ITS PROBABLY CHEAPER TOO
-
4K TV - play without the bezels.
-
That Logitech G710+, still have and love that keyboard.
-
Mom said it's my turn to repost this.
-
It’s like 20% bezel
-
These Screen obarders would totally fuck with me.
-
I'd rather play on a 18 inch CRT, than this.
-
Love how the left two screens are a completely different landscape
-
Really well
-
The monitors alone hurt my damn brain.
-
Doing this with borderless monitors would look sick! It's Not practical but yeah.
-
You were so busy thinking about if you could you never stopped to think if you should.
-
Worst setup ever
-
This is why I don't like windows
-
Dude must really like bezels. And I mean really like them.
-
It must be like wearing those Kanye West shutter glasses
-
Although this would be amazing for EVE Online and other spreadsheet games.
-
Do not want
-
Yes actualy it,s so cool

Looks like a coder testing something out, it's f generally people writing code that have this
