I loved this aspect, as I was a big fan of the Mass Effect series and always thought that Femshep was the superior protagonist. I liked that when 3 came around she got more representation.
As good of a voice actor as Mark Meer is, he doesn’t hold a candle to Jennifer Hale.
She’s my favourite voice actor ☺️

I never played Mass Effects. There is female Shepard? Didn't know that. Is it like in Fire Emblem or Pokémon where you play as male or female protagonist?
ID: gvz685qYea, you choose your sex, background story, appearance, and class all in the character-creation at the beginning of the game. Before even the first cutscene.
"FemShep" is obviously voiced by a different person (Jennifer Hale, if you know her), but the character lines are identical regardless of whether you choose male or female Shepard. Your romance options change though.
The remaster (Legendary Edition) of all 3 original trilogy games come out in 18 days! I can't recommend enough that you give them a shot!

Also your customized appearance carries over between games.
