- The game looks absolutely breathtaking, its hard to believe its the same RE engine that created RE7, RE2R and DMC5, it feels and looks so refined and optimized at this point with no huge dip in frames, stutters and freeze.
-
Guarding looks amazing. You can see his pores and veins!
ID: gwmmxltID: gwmola8You can’t see such clearly detailed skin textures in seven. In Village you can clearly see folds in his skin and his pores stretch. Seven never had that
-
It ran fantastic on my rig! I have a GTX 1060 6gb and Ryzen 3 1200! I was surprised to see a nice 60-70 ish FPS.
-
What you mean it's hard to believe it is the same engine? RE2 and DMC5 both looked gorgeous and ran 60fps on PS4.
This engine is really good. And am not surprised at all that PS5 elevates it further.
-
What GPU/CPU?
ID: gwmpbch3600x and 2070 super
ID: gwmr8h9thats so weird. I have 3060 ti and ryzen 5 3600 but performance was rubbish on my pc...im sad...
-
Just played through the two demos and the graphics and performance were excellent! Playing on a 9700k, 2080, 16gb ram at 1440p max settings (with ray tracing) hovers between 60-75 fps, without ray tracing it's flying at over 100fps, often at my cap of 143fps.
-
I used Shadow PC to play the demo, set it to the "Graphics Priority" preset and was getting somewhere in the neighborhood of 90-100 FPS (at 1080p because that's my monitor resolution), I imagine it'd be even higher on "Performance Priority". The only spot where it felt a little bit chuggy was whenever the flies were swarming in my face.
-
Bethesda should take notes from Capcom in regards to their own in-house engine. The RE engine looks absolutely gorgeous. DMC5 and Monster Hunter are gorgeous and Village is next level. Meanwhile they intend to release ELDER SCROLLS VI on the same engine they used to make Oblivion. It’s ridiculohs
ID: gwo3byoThat engine is getting really really tired. Bethesda can try and slap as much makeup on it as they can but it’s always going to be a fucked to death tired old hooker at this point
ID: gwo49qtYeah it showed it’s age massively in 76, runs like crap because of the map size and how much is going on around it with other players etc.
They need to just design a whole new engine, otherwise I won’t be jealous but rather I’ll pity Xbox if the next ES is exclusive
ID: gwoh500Gamebryo actually goes all the way back to Morrowind.
ID: gwp0rziI believed it did but didn’t want to pull that claim out of my ass without evidence aha
-
RE engine is really well optimized. Nice job Capcom.
-
It has a ton of slowdown fighting the vampire chick actually.
-
Wish my base PS4 made it look that nice!
Just after playing the village part of the latest demo and the textures/animations from the wheat/long grass in that bit where you fight the werewolves actually looks kinda awful and took me out of it a bit. Lots of low re textures on other stuff like bricks in walls etc too.
Guess its time for me to upgrade
ID: gwmx7d9Even on ps5, some of the textures textures on buildings and the ground don't look very good. Otherwise it looks good, the hdr and ray tracing is good.
ID: gwmmg1wReally? I played on base XB1 and I thought that section looked great.
Maybe it was my brightness settings hiding some of that, idk

How do you get those metrics in the top left corner? Is it part of steam?
ID: gwmry4xRivatuner Statistics Server, which has tons of customization and can be tweaked to your liking.
ID: gwmswatMSI afterburner+Rivatuner, you can find it on guru3d. I also highly recommend it if you a reference card like me that heats a lot during summers, you can tweak the fan control while keep the temps of your gpu in control. I also recommend watching tutorial on youtube, since setting it up for the first time might be bit difficult
ID: gwnsc6mThanks for the info. If you don't mind I wanted to ask about your temp reading in the picture. Is that's a pretty high temperature for the gpu to run at? I'm still kinda new to pc gaming so I worry about the temp of my parts. The demo must have been pushing my system cause the gpu fans got louder than I've ever heard them but the temp didn't go above 60c I believe. Think I'm worrying too much about the heat?
ID: gwmv44qSteam does have a very basic FPS counter that you can enable in the options if you don't want all of that information.
ID: gwmyso2If you just want fps, nvidia does it Just press alt+z. No need go install any extra software.
-
Finally someone else who was blown away by the engine from the demo. I swear to god I busted a nut while playing the castle demo with Lady Dimetriscu, not because of her but because of the graphics, framerate, and temps.
-
it ran pretty alright on my pc, got some little stutters here and there but nothing terrible. i played at max settings tho
-
I got a stutter when one of the daughters bit me, but it seems to be an issue a lot of people are having and will be fixed no doubt. Other than that it is a well optimized game, I used a Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1660 super.
ID: gwpieq3ye have this aswell
-
is this the demo of RE8?
ID: gwmytx3Yes, it came out today in the morning on steam
ID: gwmyunzthank you! good to know!
-
The engine is superb, I wish more games would be as optimised on PC as RE8.
I was pulling 90-100FPS on 4K, settings all maxed (image quality still 1.0) and RT set to High on my 6800XT.
-
Is there a difference in having it installed in my hdd instead of my ssd? Asking cause ssd has less space .
ID: gwn3n3fDon't know about full game, but i installed the demo on HDD
ID: gwne3rkIt’ll mainly affect how fast your game starts up and how long it takes to load into the game. The newer resident evils don’t have that many loading screens so it shouldn’t change gameplay that much
-
sexy game, is a sexy game.
-
I see you have RTSS overlay working, why to me doesn't show up?
-
Yeah, I ran the demo like butter with a very modest gaming laptop (8GB/1660ti max-q). Both RE7 and 8 are so beautifully optimized.
-
Is RE engine old?
-
That looks absolutely gorgeous. Just played it on my 5/X, looks great yet the bar is raised on PC... To be fair, as it should be.
Did you run it with RTX on?
-
It's very good optimized, even in a ryzen 5 3400 G the game runs smoothly
-
after grinding in cyberpunk 2077, i feel like revisting old games. the frame rates were so bad in that game that even old-ass games like killzone shadowfall seem like next gen games because they run so smooth compared to CP2077.
-
RE engine is amazing, all these game runs smooth and looks decent on base ps4.
-
I want to play it with rtx off. Both the demos on ps5 it feels incredibly floaty to me. It doesn't give you the option to cut off rtx to play with a higher frame rate like the full game will.
-
no huge dip in frames, stutters, and freezes
My RX 580 4gb: starts sweating
-
Can’t wait to play it on my ps4, and have it explode XD
-
The graphics are pretty good; no argument there.
-
I'm impressed. It's rare that a game with RT holds 4K/60 without DLSS even on high end PCs.
-
I have framedrops hard when vampyr lady disintegrate
-
I tried the demo last night and my laptop really struggled with it unfortunately
I’ve been able to comfortably play the newest resident evil games like the seventh game and the remakes on pc without any issue so I believed that village would run adequately
The castle segments were okay for me but the village segment was unplayable
I tried freeing up all my RAM and adjusting various graphical settings to be less demanding
Unfortunately the village segments of the demo didn’t run any better for me
I’m not very knowledgeable on pc gaming and performance settings so i hope there is a solution to make the game run
I really badly want to play village and i hope that my laptop is capable of running it efficiently
-
I have a 2060s/i7 8700 @ 1440p and was getting between 120-144fps in the castle 100 in the village (everything on high or max). With ray tracing on medium I got between 65-85 in all areas (couldnt really push RT too high on this card). I thought this was some crazy results though for this card.
I played this on ps5 as well and wanted to compare the difference before I purchased it. You really notice the ray tracing on PC, it must be set to low on ps5 (or lower). It makes everywhere look a lot better.

eh...apart from the one bad water texture i saw in toilet in underground prison, the game looks absolutely beautiful you have to be using magnifying glasses to point any bad textures which i don't think i found any and then again, i am still playing on low-mid texture quality high 1gb, there are i think 4 more options after that.
-But Capcom sure as hell went all out creating this large Mediæval castle that is a giant maze and goddamn, its almost as if it is real and alive from the tiny pattern design to large paintings and huge golden chandelier that beautifully reflects and bounce lights off the walls and surface.
-
agreed so far the level design is super sick
-
The textures can be meh at times for all the RE games, but the way it all comes together in looks and appearance is just stellar.
-
how the hell did you pull that off? my 3090/3950x were only doing about 50-70fps with everything maxed, 4k, image quality 1.5. IQ 2 brought it down to 35fps.
-
FE 3090/5950x. wasnt image quality the setting that was actually resolution scaling in disguise when you read the description? if so, i left that at 1. pretty sure if you set it to 1.5 you were scaling your 4k up to 6k and that would explain your crummy performance. i could be misremembering or just flat out mistaken tho but im pretty sure i remember reading that setting and realizing it was just resolution scaling for people with trash computers
-
Nah I played on my base PS4 and it ran fine at 40 FPS with little dips here and there. It’s not that bad it’s definitely not unplayable. I would hope for 120 FPS and raytracing but probably unlikely. Ray tracing is kind of crazy, it really depends what RTX card you have.
-
Base ps4 is i think 30 fps
-
It runs like crap
-
It feels like they’ve aged Ethan’s hands like 30 years from 7 just to show more detail. I mean seriously, why are his hands do different?

I’m not Downgrading it, because they did it better here obviously, but you could also see the fine details like that in 7
