Hello community, we have an exciting announcement!
Reddit Gaming Partnerships and Capcom USA have arranged with us the opportunity to submit AMA questions for the Resident Evil Village development team! The questions will be answered on a later date in a pre-recorded video.
Everyone involved is running on a pretty tight schedule, so we’re going to need the questions by Wednesday morning EST May 19th.
Ask anything, it doesn’t have to be related to Resident Evil. Just please do not ask anything inappropriate and be aware no questions about any unannounced/future plan will be responded to. So whatever comes to mind, asking about favorite movies, exercise routines, if anyone can juggle, etc. Don’t hesitate to post that burning question you must have.

1) What's the canonical status of the story elements in Umbrella Corps?
2) What's the significance of H.C.F.'s "technical assistance" in Eveline's creation?
3) Who's "The Executive" in the Umbrella Corps mode THE EXPERIMENT?
4) Is the voice of Albert Wesker in Umbrella Corps just an easter egg?
5) How old is the fungal root/megamycete?
6) What's the story behind the 4 founders/kings who guarded the Chalice, and were they infected with the Mold?
7) Does the Cadou cause Lycan transformations spontaneously or are there certain conditions attached? Why do they become wolf-like Lycans in particular?
8) What's the extent of Miranda's ability to manipulate the consciousness of others like the villagers? Is it similar to Eveline?
9) Elements of Village are stated to be ancient or prehistoric, such as the stronghold, cave mural, ceremony site & Varcolac, exactly what time periods are all of these from?
10) A lot of plot information about Blue Umbrella is found only in Tokyo Marui airsoft booklets and manuals. Is there a particular reason for making this info obscure and exclusively Japanese?

One of the more interesting and controversial elements of RE7 was the resurrection of Umbrella. RE8 had only a few oblique references to them, mostly as part of costumes and equipment. Is this something that's being dropped due to poor fan reception, or will this thread be explored in greater detail?
In case you can't answer that, it seems like Elena was going to be an important character before she died. Was she originally intended to have a larger role?

Did you guys expect the fan reaction to Lady Dimitrescu or were you surprised by it?
Any info on upcoming DLCs? Would love to see some backstory/content on The Duke and maybe something on the Dimitrescu clan.
Will Ethan ever get a face reveal?
The game takes place in Romania correct? Why are all the characters apparently American and why is Dimitrescu pronounced with a French sounding pronunciation?

Who is Claudia Beneviento?
Did Donna or Moreau’s section get nerfed in terms of length or were they supposed to be the length that they are?
Does Donna channel her personality through Angie or does Donna make Angie appear to have her own personality?
Who was the one who wrote on the back of the family photo? I like to believe it was Donna, I think it’s a sweet thing after she didn’t really want to fight Ethan

Back in 1998, Sugimura-san conceived of ancient human civilisations which had arisen in the Stone Age because of such things as the Progenitor Virus. Was this used as inspiration for the BIOHAZARD Village, where there are ruins said to also be very ancient? I'm a big fan of the Drama Albums you commissioned as you can be creative with the story without having to think bout gameplay. Have you considered doing something like that again? I'm also a big fan of Dino Crisis - Many fans have imagined it is set in the same world as Resident Evil. Have you considered an MCU approach with your games, that some are set in the same universe?ID: gyirdcgHey where can I find more stuff on that ancient civilizations? Please answer what you can from these:
There were more scenes for the villagers in Resident Evil Village trailers, were these changes made early on or are there plans for future DLC? Miranda's power started getting "taken" which caused her to weaken for Ethan to take down. There are many interpretations but what's the real reason behind that? In the epilogue of RE8, apparently Ethan's model was used in the distance. Is there an intentional reason behind it? Is there an approximate number for how many years into the future was the timeskip in the epilogue? What's the order of the Four Lords' infection dates by Cadou? Donna should be last. RE7 referenced H.C.F. for collaborating with The Connections. Are there any future plans for them? And was Wesker himself involved? There were notes by Lucas about a person named "Oliver" he supposedly trapped until he died. But due to the lack of suspicion by his family, it's not quite clear if that person is real or an imaginary one made up by him. Was Eveline aware that Ethan died? What do you think was going to happen to Zoe if she wasn't treated in End of Zoe? How is Joe Baker doing? We read about Zoe in the report provided in-game, but nothing about Joe.You don't have to answer this question seriously, but do you think after the restriction lift post-RE8's events, Zoe met Mia and Rose? or continued contact?

Does Village time skip 15 years at the end in the epilogue or does Rose age rapidly?
Also, is Chris being cloned by the BSAA or is that just a reused asset of him at the end of the game when he’s in the chopper and sees they are creating B.O.W.s?

Village is my absolutely favourite game in the series, bar none. I also like the amount of concept art and models you can unlock.
I would like to ask though, were there plans to have Donna and Moreau's sections be longer originally, or were they always planned to be the length they were?

I recently watched some of the RE7 development video and the art director mentioned the team searched for some reference on the environment and Louisiana ended up as a result because it fits the theme. How did you guys come to the conclusion that Romania is the perfect location for Village (asides from its legends with vampires/werewolves)? What does the location distinguishes itself from all the competitors (if there were any) since planning phase of the game?
Also, is there any plan for DLCs for Village like RE7? I would love to spend more time in Village! -
What aspects of Resident Evil Village are you most proud of?
Are there any regrets or things you didn't have time to add or develop that you really wanted to?

First off, Village is now my favorite Resident Evil game. While not everyone likes it as much as I do, I thoroughly enjoy it. That said, is there anything that the team can share about the scrapped appearance of Ada Wong? Thank you!

Was Ethan’s story in Village outlined back during RE7 dev or did it come later? 2. I’d love to hear about the process of creating a sequence like Happy Birthday from RE7 and House Beneviento from Village - both of those parts of the game have really fun methodical puzzles that crank up the horror as you progress. I love Village so much so thank you and congratulations on its success! Can’t wait to see what comes next 🙂

Was the entirety of Village based on the pun of Lichen and Lycan sounding similar?

When Duke talks about the four lords, he says “Moreau is not the only monster that lives in those waters”. Did he just mean Moreau’s other form? Or were there plans for other water monsters?

Who created the chalice system in the area near duke in town? They implied it was there before Miranda found it.
Is Ethan intended to be the one at the end (using photo mode to see him) or was that a placeholder?
Also, what were the internal reactions to the baby part of the house?

I’ve been wondering this as well. They stated in RE7 that Ethan did not have enough mold in his system for Eveline to control his body. Yet in village they state he’s been dead and mold all along... so then why couldn’t Eveline control him in RE7? Why couldn’t Miranda control him either? How were he and Mia able to even procreate?! (Although I guess that they will explain with just “mold can reproduce”)
