You're home now. A Resident.

Hello, there is a crap ton of lore, alot of which takes place between games, to learn but you are one of us now. Basically reddit is the mutacyte and we are all the mold.
ID: gylveqiHonestly if other installments' stories are as good as 7's I'm all in. Probably going to pick up Village soon.
ID: gym1nst7 is great and Village is even better, welcome to Resident Evil! Hope you enjoy.
ID: gymouee7 then 8 is such a great place to jump into the franchise if you're a newcomer. I jumped in at RE4, which was probably the next best game to jump in at prior to 7. RE4 and RE8 felt very similar to me. If you like the feel of 8, I'd recommend going back and playing 4, as it was super solid. 4 was so good that 5 and 6 basically tried to copy it with limited success.
ID: gymtdnvI'm pretty sure you'll enjoy RE8. It's a strong follow-up to 7.
I also recommend picking up the RE2 & 3 combo pack, especially if you catch it/them on sale.
ID: gymsiutHell yea, play 7 and 8 back to back first! It’s a perfect entry point (this coming from a day 1 fan) and If your interest is piqued, capcom has made it quite accessible to experience this story from the beginning. Enjoy being sucked into this wonderfully gory and crazy universe!
ID: gylw1f4Honestly I feel that 7 was a weak entry. That said when combined with 8 it becomes so much better.
For some of the best story in the modern games get Remake which has remastered on PS4, Xbone &PC, RE2R & RE3R.
All of these should be very affordable right now

Welcome to the family son
ID: gymlxqvI scrolled way too far fuckin down for this comment.

still too scared to play resident evil 7
ID: gymc579I don't do scary games. The only other scary game that I have beat is the original Dead Space. I tried Alien Isolation and I put that shit down in about 2 hours. RE7 had just the right amount of scare for me to have my heart rate up at all times, but not so scary that I don't want to keep playing. That's just me tho. The Bakers being kind of cartoonish evil helped.
ID: gymg2zzYeah I prefer to just watch other people play scary games. Alien Isolation was pretty fun tho
ID: gympc2qHow'd you handle the beneviento house?

Here’s a lock pick. It might come in handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.
Welcome to the best franchise ever invented!
-
Welcome to the sub! This is a very chill group of people; if you’re an RE fan, you’ll fit right in. Enjoy discovering the series!
-
Unless you plan on playing every mainline game, YouTube will guide you to understanding.
-
You'll understand alot more talked about on here if you go play 8, it's also the sequel to 7 so it'd continue where you left off. It's the newest one so it has the most talk right now. However most of the games in the series are great and you should check them out if you get a chance.
-
We have such sights to show you.
-
When people tell me that re lore sux I direct them to the wesker reports on youtube
-
Welcome. I certainly hope your experience has been friendly and not metaphorically getting sucker punched
-
“Welcome!” - Merchant.
-
Exactly how I felt after finishing the RE:2 Remake lmao
-
I’ve played the majority of the main games and still have no clue what’s going on
-
Resident Evil franchise: Ive got something that might interest ya, hehe
-
All you need to know is if a man named Redfield starts telling you about his sister and his “bloodline”, kindly decline him.
and watch out for stray boulders.
-
All of my knowledge of Resident Evil before playing 7 comes from spending ridiculous hours on Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in my college years. Wesker pulls a rocket out if his ass in that game.
ID: gymsiyaTo be completely honest in RE5 Wesker could have pulled a full mlrs truck out of his ass and people probably wouldn't blink an eye. XD
-
My only advice is that when you get to RE5…find a friend and do some couch co op! It’s honestly such a fun co op experience. I believe if you play it on PS4 you can still do online co op with a friend.
-
Go ahead and play Village, then go back and play RE1 (remake), 2 (original), 3 (original), CV, and 0 in that order.
After that hit 4, 5, Revelations 1, 6, and Revelations 2
Then finish up with the 2 and 3 Remakes
ID: gym9r8bHonestly the original RE 2 & 3 should of been bundled with their remakes.
ID: gymixloYeah, it would have been really cool if you could unlock the original games in the remakes. Hopefully they'll re-release the og trilogy at some point
ID: gym4ljiI like that recommendation. I didn't have an easy way to play the original 2 and 3 because I'm terrible with PCs / emulators. So I played the Remake of 2, Remake 3 and Code Veronica X PS4 port. I also played both revelations games (sort of hated both. Kind of understand why Revelations 2 is a cult hit but Moira's crowbar can only take that game so far.) I also played 0 before 1 but not sure I would recommend doing that.
ID: gymsnrlThis is actually a pretty good play order.
ID: gymtln7You can actually just skip 6. 0 too for that matter.
-
Just play RE4 and you'll understand 90% of the posts and memes here.
-
Big zombie bad. Nemesis is your nemesis.
-
literally me, but my first RE game was 4
-
“You’re confused by all this aren’t you.”
-
Resident Evil has the best community for any games series out there!
-
7 was the first I played too since I have gone back and played 2 remake, 3 remake, and 4 and I love them all
-
Welcome to the family, son! It’s a great series to play & this is an awesome community. Settle in & one of us may bring you a Jill Sandwich!
-
I just know that all of this started because some Final Fantasy look alike ho wanted revenge on an evil company that killed him.
