I'm working on a second playthrough now and that scene always gets me. The fact he is in stunned silence for a few seconds before letting out an "Ah shit!" is funny.
Plus, I'm no doctor but I don't think placing your severed hand on your wrist magically makes it work.

On that note, I don’t get why it’s a major plot element in Village. Like wasn’t it REALLY obvious that he was infected throughout the entirety of RE7
ID: gzk7jn3It was hinted at but it was never really explicitly revealed until RE8, and even Ethan himself wasn’t aware of it until the vision with Eveline near the end of the game. Most also just thought he was like Mia and only infected with the Mold, instead of being a complete Molded copy and the actual Ethan having died way beforehand.
