ID: h0rfp5cWhen you look at art concepts in re8 they talk about this. Originally for the fam dinner scene, the devs pictured a square table. But after going to the US south for inspiration and seeing a family gathered at a round table (likely with a table like OPs) they decided that the round table family dinner scene was a better suit and thats how we ended up with that.

The design of this table is most likely so old, that it's already in public domain. So it's completely OK to use it as a model in a game.

My grandmother had that table and chair set as well, passed it down to my dad when he got his house. Even has the split in the middle to separate it and add an extension slat for more table room.
