- I make maps for Dungeons and Dragons and have been making my way through recreating video-games that I grew up with using a map-making program called Inkarnate. Every map is playable and usable

Inkarnate is a great tool, and I really dig the classic D&D looks they went for. Really reminds me when you could get these pre-made maps from starter packs and expansions back in the day.
One of the best value for money things anyone can do with this service is getting a single month of Pro Membership and create tons of individual tiles for interior and exterior maps, a bit like the tile packs you can buy from Wizards of the Coast, but customized to your own liking, and save them on your computer, and for 5$ you have literally thousands of tiles in high quality.
You can then either use them mix and matched for your games online, or print them on cardboard and have for a modest price more tiles than you can ever need for you TTG activities. For 5$ its really worth it, and even if you dont end up printing or using all the tiles you create, just for tat price its hard to beat the quality if you like that classic D&D looks.
My best buddy is a DM and he has a folder on his computer with like 50.000 tiles of different sizes, biomes and shapes, we created using Inkarnate and Photoshop.
ID: h4wqj8gMy Patreon has 300+ maps built with Inkarnate 🙂
ID: h4ws63pJust took a look on your posts and it looks like you really like doing maps. And its nice to see that you took a completely different aproach than my buddy did with his tiles. You went for full maps as he went for creating smaller pieces and dioramas that could be used to create full maps. I should really try to convince him to post some of them on Reddit D&D boards, as some of them are really nice.
Keep up the good work 🙂

Sick man!! I used to do similar for Pokémon games on a program called advanced maps. So much fun.

I'm curious if you've ever looked into Wonderdraft? I got it a while back and have wondered how it compares to Inkarnate
ID: h4yp203Wonderdraft is for world and continent building, dungeonsraft is for dungeon-building.
Inkarnate has all of the above.
Inkarnate also had a free version.
Pro Wonderdraft: One time purchase, downloadable file and super customizable assets Con Inkarnate: yearly subscription

Dumb question from someone who's never played D&D: what would make a map unplayable?
ID: h4yf9oeGood question, but the imo the scale has a lot to do with it.
Imagine Google Maps: you want to take your bike from point A to point B- but your looking at a state/region/area map that isn’t going to show you an exact route to take…you want a street map.
DND maps work in a similar way: maps that are usable in combat usually have a scale of 1-square equals 5 (or 10) ft. vs larger maps where squares are equal to 1+ miles or ‘400ft’
These maps are divisible enough that if you placed a person or character on the map, you can still see them and have the 5ft-square rule still make sense in terms of scale
edit: I’m a bit drunk RN so I hope that explanation makes sense

i don't know why but this kinda reminds me of the GTA San Andreas map, i really dunno why
