For a year, I spent all my spare time working on a charming souls-like game with wacky bosses. It has just reached a new milestone and has a trailer! As a solo dev, your feedback, opinions and criticism are very vulnerable to me!

Looks good! Like others said character animation needs some work one standout point is when they're dodging the tree. Both dodge and tree animations look a little stiff. I think it could use some more hit reactions too. Maybe a bigger effect around the character when they're hit or a good amount of jerk/stagger. It looks like a fantasy world. Maybe adding bigger attacks with large ghost bear claw hands on even with regular attacks could make the combat look and feel better.

This looks great, especially for a solo project! I like the idea, too.
Hate that "hands spread out" running animation, but that's because I detest the chibi thing, but it works with what you are going for.

Honestly i have no idea how it feels like to make a game but by just seeing your game and also that your a single dev thats really impressive i doubt i could make a roblox game or something but if i had a choice i would play that for 3 hours straight
ID: h60ditmsolo dev isn't easy haha, especially when I can only work at night. But the support received from everyone gives me the motivation!

Wow, this game looks great (especially the art) even if it was a large team that developed it. But for being a solo developer this is insane to me what I'm seeing. Seriously, that's some real talent. I'll be putting it on my wishlist on Steam. Good luck with the game. Will be rooting for ya

I trained in game development for 5 years, and this is amazing for a solo dev and a year of development. Very very good job OP and I see a bright future for you. Make sure you get copyright for stuff you legally can as I made a solo developed game and the idea got stolen within a few months and went on to sell 75,000 copies while mine sold 1000. Theyre game was of higher quality but had the exact same premise and style which was very clearly taken from mine, it was a blatant rip off and when I wanted to release a sequal I got told I wouldn't be allowed as they had the rights to the idea. I was very pissed off. Get all the protection you can while you can.

Love that it isn't just another grimdark Souls clone. The world needs some whimsy these days and beating enemies with a plushie fits the bill!

Oh it's a great way to help get an audience, it just gets annoying when everything is a ___ like game anymore. It's like their is no unique gameplay or anything so games just run together. It's kinda like when everything was a zombie game or a battle royal.

What do you mean by souls-like? I find that term heavily overused nowadays. It looks fun and I like the art style but I don’t see how it’s anything like dark souls at all. Other than maybe the giant bosses.

good question! Indeed it has a broad definition, but in my case, I'm referring to elements like difficult, boss fight focus, involves stamina, and checkpoints 🙂

The "wacky" elements is intended, and will be part of the gameplay mechanics 😛

Could be interesting, but you really should have an animation for that, to emphasize that you're supposed to be falling through the floor.

Looks interesting. I’m personally interested in what i think is shooting the teddy bear? Feels like there would be defensive fights. Saw on the page that there is “partial controller support” and wanted to ask what that means. Getting my first gaming laptop next week (never had a PC) and prefer controllers over kb+m.
