Set during WW2, but you switch between an American fighting the Japanese, and a Russian fighting the Germans on the push to Berlin.
It had some crazy good set peices, and let itself be a little unique (even if one mission is legitimatley just a montage of 'Enemy At The Gates' moments!) I'd really reccomend it.
Reznov (pictured here, and voiced amazingly by Gary Oldman) shows up again in Black Ops 1 as well (which a lot of people loved, but personally it was a bit hit, and miss in my eyes). He's probably tied with Captain Price as best Call of Duty character.

When I played CoD there was no story, there was no voice acting.

To an actual CoD "veteran", the series died with CoD 4 and 3 didn't exist because it was Wii exclusive.
