My personal theory for RE9: it will be about Blue Umbrella as good guys VS [Spoilers] as the new baddies.

My theory mainly comes from the fact RE7 put some attention to the fact that Blue Umbrella are looking to redeem themselves from the mistakes Umbrella made in the past, and Village showed us the BSAA using BOWs as combat weapons.

So a role reversal would be neat, where you're allied with Umbrella to take down the BSAA who are now the new villains.

I know it's a bit flimsy considering we have very sparse info but I thought it would be cool if it happened and it's my personal hope for RE9.

What do you guys think?

It's plausible. Could be like Blue Umbrella has to deal with people inside their organisation that are secretly trying to revive the Umbrella corporation or their founders like Spencer as a superhuman leader.

Some kind of civil war where the heroes get mixed up in. With BSAA & Blue Umbrella

Makes sense. They'll probably use Rose as their own bioweapon atleast that's what i thought after seeing RE8's ending.

I think RE9 is going to be the end of the main story before they do some kind of a reboot. If that's the case, the major villain is going to be Brandon Bailey and The Connections. They've been around for awhile and have been major background players for 7 and 8. It also wouldn't surprise me if it's revealed that this is the unnamed organization that Wesker and Ada have worked for in the past. They have infiltrated the BSAA and that's why they're using bio weapons now. But ultimately, I think the major villain will be The Connections.

I could see the BSAA be a live long enough to become the villain type thing.

So I'm basing this off of files from Umbrella Corps and translations of Tokyo Maurui gun manuals that I've heard discussions/speculations about on the Resident Evil podcast (formerly the Project Umbrella podcast). Blue Umbrella is a newer branch of the B.S.A.A. and was made up of former Umbrella employees who wanted to 'make amends' for their past sins. At first, they used the legitimacy of the B.S.A.A. to resume making their anti-B.O.W. weapons like the Albert 01, and those anti B.O.W. rounds. Secretly, they began developing B.O.W.s again and eventually pitching them to the ever more corrupt B.S.A.A. as a safer alternative to human operatives to deal with 'rogue' B.O.W.s. We see some of these new 'operatives' at the end of 8. Chris, ever the loose cannon and always paranoid of corruption, realizes that something is not right in the B.S.A.A. He voiced his concerns at the beginning of Not a Hero, and he used the time between 7&8 to build up a group of agents more loyal to him than to the B.S.A.A., which he found in Hound Wolf Sqad. From files, we read in 8 the B.S.A.A. suspects Chris is going rogue but hasn't been able to stop him yet.

So the way I see it, the B.S.A.A. is becoming a vessel to for Umbrella to be reborn. Through years of beurocracy and corruption, the B.S.A.A. has been worn down, and reformed into the exact thing they were created to fight against.

All I need is for Jill to be in the game

I Doubt it if they Continue With rose’s story where looking at a 20 year time jump putting Jill in her mid-late 60s and Chris would be nearly 70

I haven't played RE7 yet, but do we know who Chris is working for? It would be a pretty cool twist if it turns out blue umbrella was backing him.

He was working with Blue Umbrella in RE7.

Sweet, I find that pretty badass.

Let's have the bsaa be led by Jessica...pahleez! We need more of that sweet ass

It would be a cool to see all our favorite characters clash into one final send off if they plan on 9 being the end.

I hate it.

It's going to wind up culminating in Rose Winters vs Natalia Burton in a battle of the superpowers while the established characters look on in horror. Just like the awful Anderson movies.

"I used the BOWs to destroy the BOWs"

Ethan Winters was a BOW destroying other BOWs so honestly it could totally work.. Fight fire with fire.

I don’t think the BSAA will be the main villains, more like a pain in the ass of whoever we play as. Like, maybe there will be some kind of attack or accidental outbreak caused by some cult or terrorist group (the actual clear cut bad guys) and the BSAA send in some bio weapons to stop them, but that plan goes as well as anyone with a passing understanding of story structure can predict and so you have to fight monsters from both sides.

I also think it’s interesting that in this series a lot of the major plot development and political shifts take place in between games. Like Umbrella was the primary evil force in every game before Resident Evil 4 and then that game is set years later, the company has been dismantled and you don’t need to worry about them any more, so whatever they’re hinting at in Resident Evil 8 might not have anything to do with the future of the series.
