Auto weapons in RE games are very hit or miss…
2 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:33 ID: h7g1qd0

I was so relieved when I found out the assault rifles in 8 were different from 7. 7 is a wonderful game but the P19 is just terrible!

ID: h7gu2ql

Nothing is worse than the guns in ORC though! Pea shooters galore…

ID: h7h4tgo

The infinite ammo assault rifle is hilariously fun to use. They feel right in terms of power.

ID: h7hbx63

Tbf one is an AR and one is an smg irl

ID: h7hhy0w

Please explain the difference for an European

ID: h7hctpd

It's a shame the shotguns in 8 are straight garbo. Better off using the sniper for almost everything, except a few bits in Castle D before you get it

ID: h7hecfg

Shotgun is a monster in 8. You can take down those walking tank dudes with the exposed hearts in 1-2 shots. Took me a lot of rifle ammo before I figured that out.

ID: h7hk6h8

Ah yes the sniper rifle. The savior when you need the power and have no more other rounds left for your other guns

Chicago Typewriter for the win.

ID: h7ggkrl

A true Chad weapon

ID: h7gmfyr

How dare thee heathens! Sleeping on thy TMP.

4 : Anonymous2021/08/02 17:38 ID: h7gavv3

That machine gun from RE7 made me remember that I loved how Mia's arsenal in RE7 was so different from Ethan's

It made the boat section more different and interesting

ID: h7gs4ct

everything she got her hands on was russian somehow, while ethans guns were as american as apple pie.

ID: h7gx50r

Except the Glock, which is Israeli.

*Austrian. Pardon me while I get downvoted to hell for simply remembering wrong.

5 : Anonymous2021/08/02 17:07 ID: h7g6kpu

Don't forget the TMP from re4, one of the best video game guns of all time

6 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:02 ID: h7fxaof

I haven’t played resident evil 8 yet but this is true

7 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:32 ID: h7g1n98

Man that machine gun in 7 was pretty underwhelming.

ID: h7h5hki

yes, but it added to the tension atleast imo. Feel like I'm alone on this lol

ID: h7h5n7w

If that was the intent to still make you feel weak then it worked. Unfortunately stuff like the shotgun and the bombs make up for its so the machine gun feels like wasted space.

8 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:09 ID: h7fycvo

I always enjoy a good “jacked dog / regular dog” meme. Take my upvote, you sick fuck.

9 : Anonymous2021/08/02 17:23 ID: h7g8oxv

I didn’t play re8 but I loved mp5 and mk18 in re2 and 3 remakes

10 : Anonymous2021/08/02 17:33 ID: h7ga33s

The rifle Chris has at the end of village is WEAK when playing Village of Shadows.

ID: h7gl7cb

I hated that part on VOS. I just ran around in circles waiting for the laser to recharge

11 : Anonymous2021/08/02 18:19 ID: h7ggizt

The WCX was my guardian angel during my Village of Shadows run

12 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:32 ID: h7g1jsy

I mean for what it’s worth, the pp-19 is a submachine gun, chambered in 9x18 makarov the MCX is an assault rifle chambered in 5.56x45, but yes full auto weapons in RE games are weird, but hey, it’s for balance reasons.

ID: h7g5bpp

Kind of like how the 1911 in Village is a full auto variant, even though the rate of fire is comparable to semi-auto and just pulling the tigger kind of fast?

I was even getting into online debates with people that were saying the 1911 has never been full auto even though a simple Google search would easily prove otherwise but I digress.

Resident Evil games always change guns in ways that divert away from realism, or least changes them from their real life function, this is to be expected at this point.

ID: h7g6nqw

The lebman machine pistol is the only full auto 1911 I’ve ever seen, but in theory you can make one. It’s weird the 1911 is “full auto” in RE8 and the scorpion, which would be select fire, isn’t really full auto either.

ID: h7gb7c0

Hell, John Dillinger had a custom made full auto 1911, though chambered in .38 Super and that was back in the 1920/30s.

So yeah, full auto 1911s are and were definitely a thing. Maybe not mass produced, but they do exist.

ID: h7h2brd

I felt like there was no balance in Village. Every time you come across a new gun it's significantly better than the earlier counterpart with no trade offs. Simply take the new gun and sell the old one without a second thought

ID: h7h2ndl

Agreed, though I happily played through with the 1911 I never used the scorpion till a few playthrough later, I usually use guns I like anyway, but I do wish it was more RE4/5 where there’s more pros and cons to different weapons not just a straight upgrade

ID: h7guzdo

The 9x18 Makarov is pretty weak anyway. The Makarov PM was supposed to be as simple and cheap as possible to use a simple blowback operation system, so a modestly powered cartridge was needed for safe, reliable operation. It's basically just "good enough" to be decent for self-defense, like the .380ACP. An individual shot from a pistol could be questionable on terms of efficacy but 64 of them in an SMG would render that fairly moot.

13 : Anonymous2021/08/02 15:38 ID: h7fu30r

I was unable to find transparent images of the WCX and P-19 from in game, I apologize.

ID: h7go76q

Yo, the WCX is a chad assault rifle in re8. Got me through Village of Shadows until I had enough money for the STAKE

14 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:09 ID: h7fydvc

Tbf P19 has high recoil.

15 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:57 ID: h7g521w

to be fair that bizon was not being used or taken care of for years

16 : Anonymous2021/08/02 17:51 ID: h7gcmjo

Re 6: I mine as well be a paper clip

17 : Anonymous2021/08/02 21:02 ID: h7h2xhy

Re7 Molded being rittled w machine gun bullets : “ayy, u feel sum?”

18 : Anonymous2021/08/02 16:47 ID: h7g3rth

One is a sub-machine gun, the other is an assault rifle...

ID: h7g79n4

yes

19 : Anonymous2021/08/02 19:28 ID: h7gpyny

Nah fr, you might as well keep Mia's smg in your storage because it sucks so bad.

20 : Anonymous2021/08/02 19:28 ID: h7gq0y2

I appreciate the re 7 sub machine gun because of the unique conically fed mag. I’ve played games with guns like that before but somehow never cared to look up what they were or how they worked. Re 7 really milked the gun animations so it got me to finally go, “how the fuck does that work?”

21 : Anonymous2021/08/02 19:39 ID: h7grhw2

The difference between 5.56 NATO and 9mm makarov

22 : Anonymous2021/08/02 19:46 ID: h7gsinm

In re3 I don’t even use the assault rifle I like the samurais edge too much

23 : Anonymous2021/08/02 20:12 ID: h7gw21k

FOR REAL!! like bro a handgun is more affective than the submachine gun in re7

24 : Anonymous2021/08/02 20:27 ID: h7gy5jb

Comparing an MCX Virtus is not even fair. I've wanted an MCX for years now. Cant find any in stock .

25 : Anonymous2021/08/02 20:55 ID: h7h1um9

well one is a 556 and the other is a 9mm

26 : Anonymous2021/08/02 17:00 ID: h7g5jjj

More importantly, Doge to the moon! Right?! I get your reference!

ID: h7gjrge

I do

27 : Anonymous2021/08/02 18:05 ID: h7genfq

Machine gun in re7 still was very powerfull

28 : Anonymous2021/08/02 19:37 ID: h7gra82

At least the P19 is good at killing 4-legged molded

Those things are the literal bane of my existence

30 : Anonymous2021/08/02 20:44 ID: h7h0gqf

Yeah until you’re on that section with the orbital laser on the hardest difficulty. That shit pissed me off.

31 : Anonymous2021/08/02 21:24 ID: h7h5szu

100% correct

32 : Anonymous2021/08/02 22:10 ID: h7hc0o6

Tbh one shoots .556 and the other shoot 9mm.
