I want to know, what is the most liked original RE game in the trilogy?
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
-
RE3: Nemesis, by far.
Great blend of action and creepiness, and easily the best gameplay of the three.
I personally prefer Jill's individual struggle with the Nemesis and following her own journey as opposed to the Birkin/G plots in RE2, and I loved the atmosphere of mercenaries and civilians dying all around you while always being helpless to do anything about it.
-
RE3. I love Nemmy chasing you around and the fact he could just appear in a previously safe zone was amazing. It really kept the tension high despite multiple playthroughs.
It's why I was so disappointed with REmake 3. Nemmy showed up 3ish times and none of it was anywhere near as fun. He had some new moves and I loved the zombie upgrades he did but it was boring and predictable otherwise.
-
Resident Evil 2. It was the first game in the series that I was able to play. I had the n64 version and played it constantly.
-
3>2>1 for me.
You can reverse that order for the remakes.

First one

The first one, followed by the third one, and finally and the second. But they're all so incredibly close, ranking them almost feels unfair.

3 baby. That shit fucked me up as a kid, but at the same time made me a life long RE fan. The music especially I think is the best of the 3, and I also think Nemesis is the best villain, perhaps in the entire series. Jill was so damn badass in that game too. If only the remake had replicated the original’s ability to make you feel all alone and vulnerable as you’re hunted down. It was those moments, in almost total silence and all alone, that you were expecting Nemesis to pop out of a fucking dumpster somewhere. That’s what made 3 so great and terrifying.
-
This is always hard for me. While I think 2 is probably the better game, it doesn’t exist without 1. The original is just very special to me.
-
Re2 is definitely the most popular game in the original PS1 trilogy.
I think RE3 is better though. It just feels better to play and made many necessary improvements. Like skippable cutscenes, and of course quick turn.
ID: h8lcankIt's funny thinking back to how blown away I was when you could just run up the stairs without a preset animation.
The joys of being in the early 00's.
-
Nemesis.
It's just so replayable.
-
Resident Evil 3. This is mostly because RE1 and 2 feel outclassed in most ways by REmake 1, but RE3 OG is so different from everything else in the series that it never really lost its appeal to me.
-
When I think about how much I like 2, I realize that it's almost exclusively about everything that happens in the Police Station. (This extends to the Remake incidentally.)
So I'll say Nemesis. The ammo mixing and speed at which you get different weapons, Live Selections, and so on let's you play the game genuinely differently each time, and it doesn't feel like "it's over" after you get through the city. The game is much more solidly paced.
-
I like the original the best. Then 3. Then 2.
I dunno why 1 and 3 were never ported to n64. They clearly had the capabilities.

RE3.
Nothing beats the atmosphere of walking through devastated city with City of ruin in the background along with howling wind and moans of dead. Listen to it with ambient sounds
And nothing in entire series was as tense as knowing that Nemesis can find you any moment.
As its director said:
I want gamers to feel a mixture of emotions including sorrow, melancholy, and tension

RE2 since I had it on the N64

I usually switch my choice between the first and second depending on the day lol.

Resident Evil 2 is of course the ultimate classic and really the pinnacle of classic PS1 era Resident Evil. And most people will probably choose it as their favorite.
However I always also really loved RE 3. While the story and atmosphere is not as good as RE 2 (and Nemesis can really be more annoying then scary) I believe it has the superior gameplay. movement, controls, the awesome quick turn and dodge mechanics plus the feature to be able to mix your own ammo is really awesome.
I also loved about RE 3 that you could actually explore the streets of Raccoon City instead of just one building and it really made you feel like you were in a city full of zombies. I also liked the more action oriented feel.
So I don't really know. RE 2 has such an amazing atmosphere and design and is by far the scariest of the three. It's just really hard to beat. But RE 3 is simply far more FUN and has the superior gameplay. I can't really choose between the two.
However I want to add that RE1 Remake is superior to both of them and the absolute pinnacle of classic RE and just perfection in every way so that game is always number 1 for me when it comes to classic style RE
-
2 is probably the most popular but RE1 has my favorite story.
-
It made improvements on 1 and was more confident in what kind of game it wanted to be than 3.

The Last Escape. I think it's the series' pinnacle.
-
I prefer 3 cause of the story action. Tho I think the first game had the most memorable lines.
-
Re2 is so good, but Re3 is more gooder
-
RE3. Having Nemmy following me all over the game, with the possibility of having him where he wasn’t able to follow you before, also helping Jill to escape, running around RC was magical and story overall makes the game being my favorite of them all. And all this made me had a huge problem with RE3 (2020), considering it a missed opportunity and a letdown

Resident Evil 1 will always have that special place in my heart. Nothing like that first time seeing a zombie eat that guys face.
ID: h8llnthThat guys face?! Show Kenneth J. Sullivan some respect!
But yeah, the first is my favourite. I was fascinated by the mansion and what happened to the Bravo team before Alpha arrived.
-
2 for me, though 3 is a close second.
-
I played it forever as a kid
-
Resident Evil 2 out of the originals - it was legendary and so memorable when I was a kid. Resident Evil 3 the original was fantastic as well. I’ve actually just downloaded and modded psx emulator on my PC to play these on Windows.
The outbreak series I also have a sweet spot for right before Resident Evil 4.
-
3 absolutely. I hope/wish we got a remake in first person. I would shit myself seeing nemesis bust through a wall to kill me in first person.
-
RE3 Nemesis without a doubt
