I don’t want to come of pretentious or close minded but i feel like nowadays the automatic thing to do when a new game comes out is just hate on it immediately, re3 remake was some of the most fun ive had in a game and the replay value is awesome. just because it doesnt live up to re2 remake standards doesnt make it a bad game
-
I thought it was hated because it didn't live up to the original? A lot of good things from the original didn't make it into the game, making the game considerably shorter and lacking. For example, Nemesis was scripted unlike the original and Mr X in RE2 Remake. And several memorable locations were scrapped which annoyed players who were looking for that here.

It’s not a bad game at all. I’ve had lots of fun with it and I really like its version of Jill. It just doesn’t do the original justice with all the cut content. And it’s not as good as RE2 remake.
-
I enjoyed it , but it’s not the remake it should have been. Too much was removed. And given it’s a remake it should have kept the original and added more not chopped major segments out. I don’t HATE but, but I was disappointed when I completed it.
ID: hahoc5fI don't hate it but I sure haven't played it as much as the original (15x)

I think it’s great like many others but it is incredibly short….like I know a lot of people said 8 was short but some people don’t collect everything and look around etc and I thought 8 was just fine but Re3 remake even when doing everything is ridiculously short in my opinion. It’s great for the time it lasts but sooo short
ID: hahoka2For me, 8 was short. The collecting everything part was fun-ish, but it was just collecting. Everything else felt shortened and the collecting made up the time they could've implanted a new area.

I enjoyed it but its only fragments of what it could have been which is where the hate comes from.
At least with RE2R they just got events wrong not much was cut though.

The problem with RE2 and 3 Remakes is they aren't actually remakes, they're reimaginings. They're brand new games using the original as a baseline, adding and removing elements that don't actually fit with the new vision of the game. We didn't ask for new games, we asked for actual remakes, the original games brought up to modern graphics, control standards, acting standards and QoL standards, while keeping the original vision intact and possibly expanded.
Resident Evil 1 on PS2, Gamecube, PC and PS4? That's an actual remake. Everything of the original is left intact, with added elements that bring quality of life to the game. Even if they decided to make it over the shoulder, if those core design elements remained, it can still be considered an actual remake.
What we got on the last two were brand new games, not the old games returning with modern technical standards. If i wanted a new game, i'd ask for one.
ID: hahnooqYes that's right. The other problem is these games were rushed. It's fine in RE2R because the first half of the game is really good, despite the second half being linear and short.
For RE3R, as a sequel of RE2R that is reusing same engine and assets, I expected everything to be better. - Longer game, more complexity in the level design and bigger areas (so much potential with the city). - A Nemesis that would chase you everywhere, a better version of Mr.X. I know this is very very difficult to achieve, but this would have made the game amazing and unique.
RE2R was a difficult project and I understand they probably have faced some development issues, trying to find the right formula. But with this out of the way, there is absolutely no excuse for RE3R being what it is. A rushed, uninspired reimagination of RE3, that feels more like a DLC of RE2R... So much potential wasted here. I think Capcom just wanted to meet their release schedule and rushed the game knowing that people would buy it after all the praises on RE2R.

I enjoyed it a lot, but I never played the original. I can't speak to the removed bits.
That being said, I played through it 3 times, vs. the like, 50x playthroughs of RE:2. 2 was insanely finely tuned, and is one of the best games ever, not just best RE games ever, so RE:3 was set to disappoint even those without knowledge of the original, at least a bit.
-
I agree with you 100%. I argue it’s more replayable than RE2R because, yes it’s short but it’s jam packed. By the time I replayed it, got all unlocks/achievs, etc. I sunk well over 20 hours into it. We’ll worth the price of admission. It’s fair that for someone interested in playing through it once, it might not be worth the price tag, BUT I personally just had so much fun playing this one over and over again.
ID: hahmn78Same. For story sake I still miss clocktower and park, but I have zero problem replaying resident evil games. Quite possibly my favorite franchise in gaming history.
-
I liked it too, very positive feeling in general despite certain lowlights.
Though I think it generated much more disappointment than hate.
-
It's not a bad game. It's a game to short to justify it's full price. But mostly it's a failed remake and forever a missed opportunity. We will never have another RE3 remake.
ID: hahol8zSomeone could create an unofficial fan made remake as its already been done with other resident Evil games.

Eh... It is decent I guess. There is some fun to be had, it isn't total garbage. However, calling it very good is being way too generous lol. I don't think it is over-hated exactly, it deserves most of the criticism it gets. The problem is that most people are dumb and they have no real opinion on the game, they barely play it and they don't analyze the game so they can't construct a detailed opinion of their own, so a hate bandwagon is formed instead. The easy complaint is "game too short" but that is retarded. Every RE game is short. I have many complaints about RE3 but none of them are related to it being too short. I don't like RE2 Remake that much either, so I didn't have the crazy expectations or standards for RE3 Remake. I just think it is a very mediocre game even if you look at it on its own without comparing it to the original.
-
I don't think people hate it I think we're all just bummed at how short is was. We want MORE! lol. Wish they'd patch the clocktower and park into it. None would complain

Warning! Blasphemy incoming.
I never played the OG RE2 and 3 and enjoyed both remakes or better re imaginings like another user said.. I do understand fans where let down on release especially since RE 2 Remake nailed it HARD (i guess). Cut content seems to be the biggest problems for the ''haters''. I cant really talk about that.
Was it overpriced? A bit. Still, i got 50 hrs out of it and i did enjoy them going for 100%.
My general rule is 1$ for an Hour and im Happy.
When you ''speedrun'' the game's shortcomings or ''direction'' become much more visible i gotta say. They are definitely not in the same ballpark except visual quality.
I do get the hate and frustration but like almost always ''loud minority'' cause both sold really well. If you say many where pre orders who got mislead or whatever. Many tell everybody to not fkn pre order since YEARS. So most anger is made by the fans own mistakes.
-
Honestly I liked it more than RE2 Remake.
-
I enjoyed the shit out of it. Played through it 5 times back to back
-
I think it just pales in comparison to the stellar RE2 remake, which came out only about a year prior. With that said I still put in like 40 hours for the platinum on RE3 Remake and another 100 hours on RE Resistance, so I got my money’s worth for sure and really enjoyed it overall.

I like it more than the original.
