The issue I had for the later games was that they changed the control scheme to a really shitty system. It was overly complicated for this type of game and took the fun out of it. Simplicity was the key.
ID: hazfjcaThey did that with 2K20 to the point where it was unplayable (for more then one reason obviously) that you had to relearn an entire move list that was the same for 10 years

I've been tempted to pick ones these up and play again and get some trophies and create my own character and go through those over the top cutscenes.

The original SvR was a big downgrade from here comes the pain. 2007 was the first once since HCTP that felt really great to play. 2008 was alright too just a slight incremental upgrade.
I remember getting an Andre the giant figure for pre-order bonus on one of these.
