This thread has been locked because it's beginning to devolve into unrelated politics and insults, unfortunately.

[Grant] Occupancy at stadium is 40,518. There will some social-distance sections for fans who want that, but not on opening day. Club officials stress over and over that voluntary compliance with mask requirement is essential to this plan working responsibly.

Voluntary compliance with masks? So no masks required.

ID: gqh8o41

What a hilarious tweet. “voluntary compliance with mask requirement is essential to this plan working responsibly”

Sounds like the definition of irresponsible

ID: gqhaesx

No social-distancing on opening day because they know that no one wants to watch the Rangers this year past Game 1.

Less facetiously, this just seems like a photo op for the state to use as a "Mission Accomplished" banner.

Based on how poorly they handled the last Opening Day I went to up at the old Ballpark In Arlington back in 2019, this whole situation has shitshow written allllllll over it.

ID: gqhax3z

By golly, I hope they have that roof wide open for the sake of everyone.

ID: gqh9my7

In other words, this plan won’t work responsibly. We’ve seen a lot of very bad ideas from baseball the last year and a half, like the extra inning runner on second, but a full crowd in a pandemic might be the worst idea this sport has ever seen

“Masks required” will be as enforced as the ‘I am 18’ button on porn sites.

The "call an usher for assistance" phone number is going to get a workout.

MASKS REQUIRED

NO UNCOVERED MOUTHS/NOSES

MASKS REQUIRED?

NO, UNCOVERED MOUTHS/NOSES!

Texas about to be a real life case study in vaccine effectiveness

7 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:40 ID: gqh7b4w

I’m sure the will get 100 percent compliance too, this is going to suck for the people that work there.

ID: gqh810q

I’m sure they offer great insurance for these seasonal employees and will ensure they are fully vaccinated. /s

ID: gqh7r75

Why can't they just ease into it? I get that they need to make up for lost revenue, but this ain't smart.

8 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:55 ID: gqh9jtv

I’m sure this is gonna go as well for the Rangers as the time they left Nelson Cruz in right field during game 6

9 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:09 ID: gqhbloi

Imagine paying money and risking yours and your families lives to watch the 2021 Texas Rangers play baseball

I am predicting level-headed discussion in this thread, and no need for our gracious moderators to lock it down.

What did you just say about my favorite way to tailgate? I dare you to say that to my face at Kauffman.

Mods have a knack for locking down the fun threads. I mean, who doesn’t love a good dumpster fire?

Look, we've had 527,000 covid deaths in the US so far. If we are going to get to 750,000 despite three vaccines in the supply chain, it's going to take some effort.

12 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:48 ID: gqh8hy5

100 percent capacity but “mask required” WINK WINK TEXAS

Rona says “Play ball!”

13 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:02 ID: gqhalk2

Masks Required when State has lifted mandate?

Quick, who has popcorn?

Super spreader event incoming for a team that will win 65 games

15 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:47 ID: gqh8bcl

Jesus christ. Can we not be a just a little more patient and hold off on 100% capacity until we're in a better spot? Is it really that much of a detriment if your first 10 home games are only like 25% capacity? Is it really gonna be the death of the league's finances?

ID: gqhapof

How dare you? These billionaire owners are losing millions in ticket and related revenues. Are you against Billionaires making money?!

ID: gqhaama

That's what I'm saying. We're so close to getting this done right.

16 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:57 ID: gqh9w2z

I can't even imagine feeling comfortable going to a capacity stadium that early in the season. What is so necessary about being there that you can't get on TV for the first couple months of the season?

17 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:12 ID: gqhbyyb

Man vaccines should be available for everyone who wants one by June, I don't get why teams in states that are opening early aren't just doing a full capacity with proof of vaccination thing. You get your gate and concessions with out the potential of being named as the focal point of an outbreak that put hundreds of people in the hospital.

18 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:01 ID: gqhaf68

You are a fool if you attend this game.

ID: gqhbvlt

Not only for covid reasons just because of how bad the rangers are gonna be

19 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:38 ID: gqh716a

This will go completely fine. Nothing bad will ever happen here. /s

ID: gqhahm9

Really makes me worried considering what kicked off the virus in Bergamo, Italy was the Champions League game attended by 40k tightly packed fans

ID: gqh7a6j

Looks like I gotta add a /s

20 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:04 ID: gqhauol

I am 100% not going until we have reached 75% of the general population having had their second dose. This flies in the face of the CDC recommendation of large gatherings.

I hate this. 50% might have been okay and 25% would have been prudent but low risk. 100% will probably lead to bad things.

21 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:57 ID: gqh9tjk

Can we add Texas to the Bugs Bunny Florida .gif?

22 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:53 ID: gqh97ts

Is this why you don't mess with Texas?

23 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:49 ID: gqh8qa0

Honestly I feel uncomfortable enough with the idea of 50% capacity at most stadiums, feel like this is a potential disaster waiting to happen

24 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:52 ID: gqh96tw

Oh no

25 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:04 ID: gqhauhu

.........this is America

Do you want COVID? Because that’s how you get COVID.

27 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:38 ID: gqh73sk

Texas is wildin

28 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:07 ID: gqhbckk

would it kill them to wait until a higher percentage of the population is vaccinated, like later this summer?

29 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:07 ID: gqhbb5r

If dallas doesn't see a spike then any justification for social distancing measures is dead.

If dallas sees a spike, then there will be a lot of "told you so".

We will see...

30 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:48 ID: gqh8k5g

I'm a full season ticket holder and I'm also vaccinated. I'm ready to show up mask and all but damn I really don't know how to feel about this

31 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:40 ID: gqh7cyi

Everything's bigger in Texas, especially the superspreader events.

32 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:45 ID: gqh83vd

No way this could possibly backfire...
