It just hit me, after almost a year of next gen we are still doing stock tracker… Barely any next gen games out.

They have been coming in. For PS5's we've been getting around 20 or so and then having to wait a month or more for the next set to come in. For Xboxes for a while we were getting them in weekly but in very small quantities (like, 4).
The thing is we don't really get to advertise that we have them, sometimes it's the console manufacturers not wanting it (don't want to cause a rush during a pandemic) and sometimes it's just pointless because we got so few in they will already be sold out by the time anyone actually sees it.
They are coming in more often now though, we are slowly getting to the point where the stock will be stable.

I have had money set aside for a year now for a PS5 and being unable to find one I'm realizing my PS4 is not so bad.

ID: hbac9vaThe best way I found was the Walmart restocks. They added a button you have to hold so bots can't get them and they drop them every 10 minutes for an hour. I got it in my cart the first 10 minutes and it sold out, and then just kept trying to check out until the next 10 minutes at which point I was able to check out and get my ps5. It said October 5th shipping and I got it last Thursday.

I think some developers might be holding back or marking their games dual gen at this point to make more money

I refuse to buy a new system until I can walk into a store and just pick one off the shelf. Or just order it online and not worry about bots buying them all. Not like I'm missing out on much yet, anyway.

ID: hb9jvosFinally got a PS5 by just signing up on playstation direct and allowing their emails. Got one of those invites to buy. You get a special url and some time frame to buy it in. No spamming refresh, no waiting in some queue hoping you get in, no worrying about bots, highly recommend.

I'm from brazil, here the xbox series X and ps5 cost R$ 4350,00, they are a luxury items, because of scalpers the prices ate reaching R$ 6000,00, the cheapest way to buy the console is to travel to the frontier between Brasil and Paraguai.

ID: hbaba0fIt's because of brazil's heavy tax on anything imported. Most people go to paraguay to buy stuff knowing they can pass through customs tax free if bellow a quota. Most of the time everyone is above the quota, but they dont check eveeeeerything on everyone. Only if you're greedy.

It’s made me appreciate my launch PS4 all the more (and Switch Lite). I’ve forgotten we’re in the “next-gen” several times because it seems so irrelevant atm.
ID: hbabx1qThis is exactly like me. Launch Ps4 plus a switch lite for Nintendo exclusives. I still have like 10-15 games which I have to play. No need for a ps5 right now.
ID: hbaq8s9Funny, I have the same combination although I bought my PS4 back in 2016 so not at launch. I got a Switch Lite June last year for around €180. The best part is that my local library has a pretty big games section where you can rent games for a month on all consoles for free. I played Mario Odyssey, Zelda BOTW, multiple Pokemon games and countless PS4 titles. I paid €5 for the library pass back when I was in middle school, best value I've ever gotten. Only game I bought myself was AC New Horizons and that was totally worth it, put 100+ hours into that game.
Best part is that I still have a lot of games I want to play on those consoles too (from the library or on my watchlist). I think I can wait another couple of years for the PS5, unless there is a big PS5/next-gen exclusive title like GTA 6 or something along that line.
EDIT: thinking about it, it might just be worth it to get a PS5 for the better performance. Games like GTA V with long ass loading screens continue to frustrate me.

At this stage, it seems like we’ll get PS5s halfway through 2022 in Finland so I’ll get one once my launch PS4 finally dies. It’s struggling with newer games that’s for sure.

I'm probably going to wait until at least 2022 to get a Series X. Most upcoming games I want will be on the Xbox One, so I really don't feel like I'm missing anything.

ID: hba5alnI was an early adopter of the ps1. Felt like I played the demo disk that came with it and ridge racer for like a year. The rest of the launch titles weren't that stellar outside maybe NBA jam TE (which I didnt like vs the arcade version) and maybe Rayman.
Resident evil was the first game I really remember making me appreciate the machine and that came out end of March 96, and I bought the ps4 in September 95.
I stopped buying consoles on release after the ps2. And I'm glad. Anyone who didn't learn their lesson with the ps4 pro isn't going to.
