Do you think the 6600 non xt will be a worthy buy(considering the current market)? And is there a chance it will be at or near MSRP in the first day?

I have till the 13th of October to make up my mind, so what do you reckon it will be like, with what info we have at our disposal right now, 1792 stream processors and 28 compute units, from 2048 and 32 compute units of the 6600xt.

What do you think would be the equivalent in Pascal or Touring gpus?

Like 85% performance of the 6600XT. So a bit behind a 3060.

ID: he7h5yt

It still has the full Infinity cache of the 6600XT, wouldn't surprise me when it's less than 10% slower, so between the rx5600 and rx5700. They might limit the overclock frequency a bit, like they did with the 5600xt.

"Less than 10%" (slower than the 6600XT) is too little, and too close to the next-tier card. This is unlikely to be seen at the mid-range, as it would kill the next-tier card. In the upper-tier cards, yes, 10% gap happens, as people are willing to pay a lot for that extra 10% (eg: 3080 and 3090). In the mid-tier though, the average gap is usually 13-20%, so that products from the same company don't compete against each other.

thats my plan. I had a chance of buying a 6600xt for 400eur but i passed. I wanted a 6800xt but even almost a year later its nowhere to be found. 6600 should be much faster than my current card and i dont want risk having to panic buy if it dies.

Expect something that is around 5-10% slower than a 3060.

Thats my situation also, i regret not buying the 6600xt.If it will be at MSRP i will probably get one.But if its 550 right out of the gate,no. I'd be fine with my card right now, but if it dies, im toast.

Well I can consider myself lucky that I bought a 6900XT MSRP not so long ago!

Nop, it'll be another way too expensive card, a card that was supposed to be low-mid end and accessible but in the real world will never see msrp and will end costing as much as as ps5 albeit slower than the ps5 gpu..

I'm just waiting for proper u$250 replacement for Polaris/gtx1060, untill then i'm taking a break from this hobby 😉

ID: he7w1za

The 6600xt was very near its MSRP for the first 2 days. The problem was the msrp was bad itself but i shouldve gotten it anyway.

ID: he8qdfz

A 2060 Super or a 5700 would be the minimal upgrade performance uplift i be looking for if i had your card.

Honestly if you can get the non xt at 300 MSRP, it be a lot cheaper than the GPUs mentioned above on the 2nd hand market.

is there a chance it will be at or near MSRP in the first day

As I see it, it will be scalped at launch. As every other GPU. If, and only if, it turns out it's really bad at mining (which probably isn't the case, given RDNA2 perf/watt), or if market is flooded with them quicker than scalpers can sell, it will end up dropping price and going back to MSRP.

Just my 2 depressing cents.

ID: he83c2v

There is no chance it is bad at mining.

The memory configuration and speed is exactly the same as the XT.

Hash rate will be pretty much the same as the XT so you can expect the prices will be similar as well since GPU prices are now squarely based on hash rate.

6 : Anonymous2021/09/25 08:59 ID: he78bq1

Personally , I expect the performance to be around a 2060 Super at best and a 2060 at worst .

ID: he8h6kb

Closer to 1080Ti than 1080 performance.

If the MSRP was priced higher than the 3060, you would expect it to be a faster 3060.

ID: he8jhtx

The 6600XT is 13.72% faster at 1080p and 6.9% faster at 1440p on average compared to the 3060 .

If the 6600 is faster than the 3060 , that would mean that the performance difference between 6600 XT and 6600 would be really small . It's just my speculation though that they won't do it .

Ye

8 : Anonymous2021/09/25 13:03 ID: he7tkn4

It'll be like rx 5700xt and non xt. 15% difference at max proly.

9 : Anonymous2021/09/25 14:49 ID: he86usx

If anything like the 6600xt it will be easy to get at or near MSRP the first week.

I love the fact, that 6600XT got so much flag for being overpriced, sold of 980TI day before launch and used the money to buy 6600XT. Big upgrade, no cost.

ID: he87fcl

Thats what i am hoping too tbh ..

10 : Anonymous2021/09/25 15:54 ID: he8ffvq

AMD can sell as many 6600XT and 6600M at asking price. The only non-XT that will ship are the ones that failed binning for XT.

These will be rare, regardless of price. Think 3300XT that was such a "great deal" but vaporware because AMD would rather sell 3600 with the same silicon.

ID: he8flod

Cool, my concern is really just for the first day, i understand that after they will be way over MSRP anyway.Do you think there is any chance for that day or even a few hours?

11 : Anonymous2021/09/25 16:26 ID: he8jpbh

1) Worth buying? Yes, for 1080p 120hz it should be a great buy.

2) Chances of MSRP? In Europe and Australia, I would imagine that MSRP + ~20% could be a reality on Day 1. After that, it might creep all the way to 6600XT prices. In North America I think it is very unlikely to find it a decent price.

3) Equivalent past gen cards? By the math, I think the 2070 non-super level is what we could expect.

ID: he8kjbf

That would be great for me!

12 : Anonymous2021/09/25 16:46 ID: he8me21

If you get it at msrp and need a gpu yes

ID: he8mysv

Thanks for the response.

I don't need 100 percent a gpu but im afraid my rx 570 will die before this craziness comes close to ending.

13 : Anonymous2021/09/25 17:11 ID: he8ptl3

If I can get RX 6600 at MSRP then yes, because then I can sell my RX 580 to a miner with a profit.

Otherwise, no.

14 : Anonymous2021/09/25 18:14 ID: he8ygmv

It should be at MSRP but I'm not sure what a good buy it will be with performance speculatively coming in lower than the 3060. Picked up a 6600 xt for less than 3060's are going for on launch but the prices have been going up since then. Get in early if you really want one. The market is a mess and not getting any better anytime soon.

15 : Anonymous2021/09/25 18:21 ID: he8zdqa

I doubt it will easy to get at a retailer or through the AMD que given the current shortage and scalping of cards for far higher prices than MSRP.

But sometimes you just get lucky and are able to get one.

YES... with a 100W TDP.

NO with a 100W+ TDP

its a 1080 with RT
