- Pumpkin Jack - New-Gen Announcement Trailer
-
I love how it's a "next-gen edition" trailer and it actually say nothing about the improvements...
ID: heqp3ohID: hequh4nI know the PC version had RTX (I belive full ray-traced illumination) so maybe it has ray tracing for the next-gen version as the upgrade. I did notice the difference when switching it on and off. For a game made by one person I was very impressed by the quality, gace me a lot of PS1/PS2 platformer vibes.
ID: her88geThere's some info on the improvements if you Google it. I remember reading an article somewhere covering it.
ID: hervpxmPumpkin Jack will take advantage of the new hardware and offer
60 frames-per-second and ray tracing. The Performance Mode targets 4K
resolution at 60 fps and the Quality Mode targets up to 4K resolution at
30 fps, with “higher quality effects and shadows” with ray tracing. -
Music and gameplay gives me Medievil vibes.

I love games like this.

Well that just looks like a fun time. Sold!

This game is AWESOME. Especially considering it was made by 1 dude.
I've been a huge fan of Medievil since I was a kid. I got the demo disc on PS1 and literally played it 100 times until my mom bought me the main game. I love Halloween vibes.
Pumpkin Jack, while not as original as Medievil it definitely succeeds in paying homage and in some areas actually surpasses Medievil IMO.
The atmosphere and music in Medievil is pretty much untouchable. But the combat and moment to moment gameplay is actually slightly better in Pumpkin Jack IMO. The combat is fairly simple but deeper than a lot of people give it credit for with several different weapons all with different attacks. There is only 1 attack button if memory serves but there are a few different attacks you can do if you jump/attack or hit the button a certain amount of times. I remember stringing some awesome moves together and being quite surprised because everyone said this game is super 'simple'. I mean yeah, it's not DMC but the combat was a hell of a lot of fun by the end game.
Free PS5 upgrade is nice. I'd like a physical version and I want to see what this dude does next. Medievil fans should definitely check this out.

Guys do not sleep on this game. This is amazing and gives old school vibe akin to PS2 games.

leans in
Go on…
ID: heqqh6uAction-Platformer with very simple mechanics. True hack & slash combat.
Paper-thin narrative that seems to only be in service of the gameplay / setting rather than making any sense on its own.
Corny dialogue (text only), stiff animations, etc.
It’s just got that PS2 era “feel” but also brings the same sort of charm. It doesn’t take itself seriously nor does it specifically try to be clever or subversive in any way.
It’s simple, dumb fun.

Played this on PC last year, it was a blast! Might pick it up again when this releases
-
Still waiting for a physical release

I came so close to buying this a week ago. I played on my friends PC and it absolutely destroys Medievil. Medievil was awful.
-
Pumpkin Jack’s developper is a great guy

I tried getting into the switch version when it came out a while back but couldn’t get into it. Maybe nicer graphics can help.

Yeah only difference was the new console logos at the end, still a cool looking game, but kind of a disappointing next gen trailer.
