Nope. The Attack command isn't really that good in FF6 (outside of certain weapons and set-ups in the future), so if you find the special commands to give you better damage, then there's really no reason not to use them.

No need to pixel hunt. Relics are mostly just in chests and shops. Or enemy steals and drops. Some chests can be hidden behind secrets passages, though.

Shadow has a 50% chance of "blocking" enemy physical attacks with his dog, Interceptor. Essentially, it's like an innate positive "status effect" that Shadow has.

i'd do 7 or 10 first but 9 is great too

So FF9 is a great starting point into the feel and mechanics of the series but makes a lot of inside jokes to other games.

Failing that, 6, 7, and 10 are also excellent starting points... but don't play 6 on your PS3, it's a super nintendo game and the Playstation version introduces load times into an encounter rate that really needs to not have them

If your gameboy is a GBA, finding a copy of 4 or 6 on ebay is worth while - the older versions of 4 have a rough translation and missing features, while the 3d version is somewhat unreasonable with its difficulty curve. You can also get 6 on your Wii U VC under the title "Final Fantasy III" - trust me its 6, its kind of confusing.

All the pixel remasters are great but are mobile and PC only.

Keep all of your equipment as most of it can be repurposed into new gear in synth shops.
Stealing from bosses can be good as you can get some weapons/armor a bit earlier that way (most bosses also have multiple steals), but it isn't required and buying a piece of gear in the next town or two is maybe easier than sitting in a battle for hours not getting those rare 1/256 steals or whatever the absurd value is.

Get the Moguri Mod. It doesn't change the game play, it just updates the graphics a little and vastly improves the text.

There hasn't been any announcements or leaks about the release dates. FF4 was delayed about a month, so I suspect that FF5 and FF6 will be delayed as well. My speculative guess is that we can expect FF5 around late October or early November, and FF6 will come out late December or early January.

No word on VI, but I did recently notice that the store page for V on Steam has been updated from "Planned Release Date: 2021" to "Coming Soon." VI meanwhile still says "Planned Release Date: 2021" so I imagine V could come by lat October and then VI is anybody's guess after that.

All games from Ivalice Alliance Series are set in the same world, Final Fantasy XII events for example happens a couple of hundreds years before Final Fantasy Tactics.

Yes, they both take place in the world of Ivalice, but there is a long period of time between them, at least hundreds of years. Final Fantasy XII occurs first with Final Fantasy Tactics happening later. During the period between them, a major disaster happened in the world that wiped out most of the non-human races, which is why some of the worldbuilding is different. Vagrant Story also takes place in this world sometime after FFT.

Ultima will do more damage based on the number of skill and magic levels you have, so assign accordingly

Ultima does damage based on Magic and Spirit skill so whomever is the highest in those categories (probably your white mage) that's who you should give it to for maximized effectiveness.

Go guideless for your first playthrough. I find it's always best to play the game naturally the first time so you can enjoy the story and world instead of constantly checking a guide to make sure you didn't miss anything. If you get stuck on a boss or something then yeah look up some tips, but don't spoil your initial experience.

I think it's more appropriate to play 6, 7 and 8 with guides, because there are a bunch of missable items, and even completely recruitable characters that you might miss. In 10 though, it's more of a linear path, and if you do want to circle back to something, it's easier to do that in the end game.

Don't need a guide, FFX it's completly linear, but i suggest you to check it out a list about Missable Items.

I do recommend you using an Al Bhed dictionnary guide and Trials guide (just to get the treasures which are extremely important for the late game).

No - Just different art styles, and it's an affordable way to have access to the game now. The PSP version also includes the direct sequel, The After Years, which the remaster doesn't have.

Graphic styles aside which is personal preference, Pixel Remaster is anything but Superior. PSP does have the best 2D versions for the old games.

Pixel Remaster don't have any extra content that PSP version got, they did pick the Vanilla Version for the game to created the Pixel Remaster. Also PSP brings 2 Sequels on the pack ( Interlude and After Years ).

That's a Dragon Quest mechanic, so, probably not. I don't think there's ever been a thing to lower the enemy encounter rate for the early FF games, short of cheats that just eliminated them. The encounter rate is usually where the difficulty is generated from.

Yeah, I thought that. You're constantly getting new armour, so it would be nice to be able to keep your character looking the way you want while still getting stat bonuses from the new armour you find.

It could also do with an auto-equip feature, so you can get it to automatically equip new stuff you pick up if it's better than what you've got. Instead of having to go into the menu and using the optimise feature.

If you just want one of them for now, I'd recommend IV. You've already played III (though the PR is different enough from the 3D version to warrant its own playthrough, at least imo) and while I like I and II and recommend trying them eventually, they are a bit basic compared to IV.

I sunk ~15 hours into FF1PR this weekend on my phone. If you have a smaller screen the text may be frustrating to read, otherwise I haven’t had any issues.

There’s a “tap to move” option along with traditional input which I’ve been switching back and forth from.

I’m assuming this would be true for all of them. I played FF1 on the GBA (like an hour), but I’d consider this my first play through. I can’t speak on any changes or updates, buy I don’t have complaints.

FF1 has been pretty simple (three fighters and a white mage) which I think works very well in the mobile format.

The Pixel Remaster (PC/Mobile) is just the SNES version with touched-up graphics, quality-of-life features, and the GBA translation, albeit with minor tweaks here or there. Items/locations are not changed to match the PSP/DS. If that bothers you, there are mods available to change the translation to that of the PSP or the DS.

The Complete Collection (PSP) has its own unique art style similar to that of FF1 and FF2's PSP remakes, and comes with its own slew of quality-of-life and translation fixes that date as far back as the PS1 port. It also includes 2 extra-hard bonus dungeons, a sequel, and a new story called Interlude that ties the two stories closer together.

If you want content, play the PSP version. If you just want the original story with an accurate translation, play the Pixel Remaster with a DS translation mod. (or PSP translation, if you don't like the DS's fluffy Ye Olde English style. Both are pretty accurate)

The pixel remasters are true remasters that stay closest to the original feel of the games with a few quality of life upgrades (like togglable increased battle speed)

The PSP version is more of a remake with the story intact but they add extra content at the end and some interludes and move into the 3d sprite style remake.

Either option is valid, it's just the question of do you want closer to the Vanilla experience (pixel remaster) or do you want to have a more fleshed out experience (PSP remake and interludes). Personally I went with pixel remaster.

FFX on PS4 doesn't have that option, at least the last time I played it. Steam version has the speed-up function.
VIII and XII do have the speed up if my memory serves me correctly.
