That said as a stan I will be trying out both these games.

Why is everyone so adamant on this being a GaaS? Last I heard, it was always referred to as a single-player game with emphasis on co-op...something I’m missing here?
ID: hgrejdiThe terms aren't mutually exclusive. GaaS just means it receives regular content updates that expand the game over time. Hitman and Assassin's Creed are some notable examples of purely single player GaaS. Forza Horizon is probably the best example of one that is designed to work in both single player and co-op.

ID: hgr1nycIt's a game with promise of future content for as long as the game has a player base. Think GTA5 online, Call of Duty Warzone, Destiny, Apex Legends, Anthem, Avengers. Usually the updates are free but the games usually have some kind of marketplace for it to monetize it's updates.

ID: hgrm8avIt means the game is designed for long running, consistent revenue; a game as a service. Once you buy it, developers are counting on steady access to your wallet through the game. It will carry add-on purchases, have fomo promotions and appointment based playtime, game progression will be balanced to make the grind long enough that you will do the math on time spent having to play versus paying for a cheat code to skip ahead, and whatever you buy will have its prices inflated by the free content everyone else is given to keep the player count alive.
This is fine for a multiplayer game, but is absolutely absurd in a single player title.

ID: hgr29bnI really dont think it is a GaaS. Rocksteady have no business making a live service game and the fans dont want that. Maybe they started developing this before Avengers shit the bed but super hero games and GaaS games dont mix well.

I have less expectations for this game because it doesn't interest me as much as batman, but my expectations for rocksteady is among the highest.
ID: hgr8kkoLol what? Rocksteady has put out nothing but bangers in recent memory. If this was any other developer I’d have my doubts, but Arkham Knight was incredible and so I’m on board.

so sad rocksteady has to (/ wants to) do GaaS. the Arkham games were so good. Gotham Knights doesn't look any better, GK actually looks like a GaaS just reusing Arkham assets, but apparently it's not lol

Side note, the text made me imagine for a second you could choose who to recruit. Now that is a feature I'd like to see in a suicide squad game, tonnes of reprobates in the prison to recruit + permadeath. Not everyone makes it back after each mission but you can replace them.
Like watchdogs legion ish but not the same as that

I wish they would have gone crazy and made him an absolute shredded unit like in the comics and the Batman animated series. Dude looks so badass in those. Rather than this dad strength type King Shark we’ve got these days.
