- My daughter wanted to be Samus for Halloween, my wife spent two months making these for her

The metroid umbrella is genius.
ID: hial8dvID: hibcpyaEspecially in the dark. It would just be floating around. OP, video please!
ID: hiatuc5My wife wants me to go as a bandaid this Halloween.
But I always have a hard time pulling it off.
ID: hiart4aTHE LAST METROID IS AN UMBRELLA. THE GALAXY IS AT PEACE . . .
ID: hiassovBut what if it was captured by Umbrella Corp.?
ID: hiasuyiI love it when I can hear the words off the screen.
ID: hibcdroTHE LAST METROID HAS ESCAPED, THE GALAXY IS NO LONGER AT PEACE
ID: hiasw2gBut then Ridley stole the Last Metroid Umbrella... And here we go again.
ID: hib9fwdMy very last halloween costume when I was 16 was an umbrella jellyfish. I really wanted to go out trick or treating even though I was too old, so I just bought a bunch of blue glowsticks and bubble wrap, cut the bubble wrap into thin strips, and tied the glowsticks to strings of various lengths, and taped them to the underside of the umbrella.
It was awesome. 90% of people recognized me as a jellyfish, the other 10% had kids who said "SPONGEBOB!" for some reason. Looked kinda like this.
ID: hibdh29Doesn’t spongebob catch jellyfish with a butterfly net?
ID: hibc51lThat definitely looks like a jellyfish.
Pretty great idea honestly.
ID: hibmxwrDon't let your dreams be dreams. I'm 40 and still dress up for Halloween.
ID: hib0czaIt's amazing. They should make officially licensed one. I'd buy like 3.
ID: hiaw9pwJust need a Metroid beach ball.
ID: hiawdxqOr even better: a Samus Morph Beach Ball
ID: hibab1lDaughter was probably like, "I wanna be metroid, now"

Your wife probably just gave your daughter a memory to look back on fondly for the rest of her life. She did a great job with the Samus costume and Metroid umbrella.
ID: hiale2eWe figure she'll be happy now, but appreciate it more years from now as an adult. 🙂
ID: hibk4nkI would never let that umbrella go, that's all I know
ID: hicc4xnMy mom spent a similar amount of time making me a fully hand stitched green power ranger costume when I was a similar age. It’s one of my clearest early memories I have. We found an old photo of me wearing it a few years ago and had it framed. I can guarantee she’ll always remember this.
ID: hib8i23That's the kind of memory I'd to terrible things to have. Damn.
ID: hibgvyfHow terrible?
ID: hibib4yMy mom once worked all through the night to sew Saiyan armor for me for halloween at my elementary school and it still means the world to me that she did that while working. I wish we had kept it or taken pictures but its still one of my fondest memories. It helps that it came out great, but I would have loved it no matter how it came out.
ID: hibq1zaMy Dad stayed up all night to help me finish a massive science project in 11th grade. I had the highest grade and scored the display cabinet in the hallway. I’ll never forget. He passed away 6 years later. He was the epitome of a Great Dad.
-
My own mum made some amazing costumes for me as a child. Og Klingon uniform and Crash Test Dummies (cartoon/toy I was obsessed with as a kid) stand out. But there were many great ones. I will cherish those memories the rest of my life; hopefully your daughter will too!
ID: hib1kabGood to hear that you remember and cherish that stuff, I'm hoping my kid looks back as an adult and smiles thinking about it.
-
Whoever walks chaperones for the trick or treating should be dressed in all black while holding up the Metroid umbrella. That way from a distance it looks like it's free floating. Maybe make good shots too.
ID: hib83o3Yep, that's exactly what we're planning. I should've done it for the picture too.
ID: hic5ckqYou and your wife are obviously fantastic parents. I hope your family makes many more happy memories together.

Ridley costume for the pug?
ID: hiamqs5She's an X parasite that's taken the form of a pug.
ID: hian2dbThey're both amorphous blobs, how can you tell?
ID: hibecu9She just looks like Kraid sitting there
-
...... Now I must own a Metroid umbrella. I must.
BTW the Samus costume is awesome!
-
She did an exceptional job. Great costume!
-
Lmao the pug on its bed
ID: hic2zepThey are not having any of it
-
This is seriously impressive and I hope people recognize her costume. Always a disappointment for the kid when people call you something random.
ID: hib5kbtMetroid, for whatever reason, didn't ever have the mass appeal that a lot of Nintendo IPs did, and Nintendo really neglected it for the last 10 years, so I imagine that most kids will have no idea what her costume is, unless they recently saw Metroid Dread.
ID: hibc3f9There's also Smash Bros. That's more kid accessible.
-
Well done. The Metroid umbrella is especially cute
ID: hibrf4rThe visor is looking awesome as well
-
Metroid umbrella...this is the genius that will save the world.
-
This is badass. Take my free award..
-
Pug is unimpressed.
ID: hibi5euHe's so cute. I just want to love him.
-
Good job Mom! Costume is kick ass and you make a great Metroid!
-
Props to the costume. And props to the stairs for the elderly pupper. Caring family 110%
-
The dogs face kills me
